@MrBator Thank you so much for that detailed write up, it is greatly appreciated! You are one of the best in the business! BOL with your picks tonight and through the rest of the playoffs.
Yes, Thanx for Everything Bator..your insights are invaluable.,... BUT, couldn't Destiny be on Phillies side?? Between Ryan, Eagles and last Wrexham episode, Philly finally gets a Ring instead of perennial bridesmaids
Or are you not all over hometown boy Bryce Harper's nutzzz? Shouldn't you be supporting the successful local LV pride and joy??? When he's on, he dominates..just my 2 cents.. on your bets. ALWAYS enjoyable reading your thoughts

Personally, I think AZ is gonna have a much more difficult time getting their hits compared to the MIL and LAD series. It's worth pointing out MIL was without their best starting pitcher, and LAD starting pitching was an absolute mess going into the playoffs. Consider that Kershaw, with his shoulder problems, was barely hitting 90mph in his last few starts, Lance Lynn giving up the most homers in MLB this year, and their "ace" was left to rookie Bobby Miller. Miller probably should have been the Game 1 starter, too, based on the health/performance of starters.
AZ is gonna have to maintain that hitting prowess against much more difficult pitching, starting tonight w/ Z. Wheeler. AZ is no slouch w/ Gallen going tonight, and should keep it close in Game 1... . But after tonight, I see PHI really pulling away the remainder of the series w/ their overall talent.

….and they actually lost all three home games against the Royals.
Fatty Framber also gave up 4 runs in the top of the 1st against the Royals in the first game of that late September series. He’s now been rather horrible in 6 of his last 7 home starts, and under 8.5 is now looking regrettable.

Rush51, good post. The Phillies are deservedly favored in this series, and not just because they have the home field advantage. I just think they’ve been installed as too big a favorite, and that was enough to draw me to the D-Backs +170. The Phillies were favored by a very similar price over the Marlins just two weeks ago. Since then the Phils have played GREAT, but doesn’t their current opponent deserve more respect than this? That’s the question I asked myself.
You’re right that the Dodgers were thin on starting pitching entering their brief postseason appearance, but I don’t need the D-Backs to sweep the Phillies, too. A back-and-worth battle that ends with an Arizona win in Game 6 or 7 will work just fine. Who’s gonna expect these guys to close out the Phillies at The Bank? But unexpected outcomes have been recurring in these playoffs.
In the playoffs, no matter the sport, I’m a big believer in betting on the team that I think “wants it more.” Here, however, I feel I’m going against that, and maybe that’ll prove to be a big mistake. Look, I bet big on the D-Backs and even I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they pull this off.
l expect the D-Backs to gain a split in Philadelphia. If they don’t get it, I won’t have to wait until the series is over to know l effed up!
P.S. I just noticed that the only +170 in Vegas has dropped to +165.

I disagree on the favorite/dog rational here concerning the PHILLIES. 2023 Phillies remind me of the REDSOX teams that won the last 2 series. Brash, confident and not to be denied. Dback's get cornholed tonight.

Game 2 over bettors are shifting uncomfortably in their seats. Profanity is expected to pick up during the commercial break following the end of the 8th.

Bruce Bochy pushes so many correct buttons but then he has this misplaced faith in that big dummy Chapman. I can’t believe how frequently he calls on him. I was begging to see no Chapman today.

I want to see the Rangers blow this game (which I think they will) so that someone asks Bruce Bochy after the game what the deal is with him and the highly flammable Chapman.

Ah I said a similar thing in my thread. Great to see you on the Diamondbacks as well. I think we both agree on how things will unfold. Not really sure in Game 1 I heard Gallen is a bit under the weather but they have managed the bullpen so well I think all they truly need out of starters is the 4.1 Pfaadt turned in last game.
Good luck to everyone

There’s Travis Kelce at the game, fresh off a fun weekend in New York City boning his new nerdy singer girlfriend who will someday write and record disparaging songs about him. I wonder if he realizes this and is in for the ride anyways?

The Astros are now an almost unbelievable 7-20 at Minute Maid Park since August 13th.
That is so damn hard to fathom... This really has been a peculiar year for HOU.
But Game 3 is set up to be an interesting game at TX, and could help out HOU. With Sherzer going for TX and a limited pitch count coming off injury, I look at this as a " bullpen session " for Bochy. Astros getting a look at a TX bullpen earlier in the game than usual may help them out.
