I notice there isn't a lot of quality writeups on this site, i'd like that to change with more quality instead of foolish picks with money burning emoticons.
SFG vs WSH
This game ont he surface seems a hard to cap but I think I am going with the giants for the sweep tomorrow $250. here are my reasons why
A) Fister not striking a lot of folks out this year but is aggresive, falls into the giants free swinging style. Bumgarner strikes out 4 MORE PEOPLE A GAME.
B) Fisters HR rate is slightly higher then Bumgarner, no power advantage for WSH
C) Giants are relaxed at home with an electric crowd (I live here baby going to the game tomorrow!!!)
D) All the pressure is on the nats. ugly feeling and they might clench up first couple innings. Giants have no reason to play tight.
E) 18 inning game is incredibly demoralizing, but incredible for the confidence of the giants.
F) Giants bullpen is much fresher save for petit, all the key pieces are a little more rested then WSH thanks to petits amazing 80 pitch performance.
G) Both offenses are pretty much the same. who will show up? slight adv to the giants for being at home.
H) Experience is on the giants side.
I) Bochy is a better manager. will the nats managerial team screw up yet again? taking zimmerman out shows how green they are.
all in all it seems to me the giants will probably sweep tomorrow in a close game. Its very hard to see Bumgarner melting down when he was so crisp and focused. Also even if Fister throws a gem which is possible, its not like WSH has a lot of offensive adv they can rely on.
$250 on SFG to win at 1.73 to 1.

Washington is way better offensively than the Giants..... sure they can get swept OBVIOUSLY they're down 2-0.....
Fister will match bumgarner..... Giants blow dik at home.... they havent' hit and can't hit period. POWER BATS and hittign in this ballpark, the giants are at a disadvantage with WSH line up..... they squeeked out 2 close wins..... it could have gone the other way very easily....
I love that it's every other year and all that jazz thats nice..... but lets be honest with ourselves here.

you see a little bit of research on baseball reference is better then just blind opinion. this suggests that the only thing that the nats do better is hit the long ball which is mostly because they play in a weaker division.

Im not sure you are correct gene.
giants: 665 runs on 1407 hits
wsh: 686 runs on 1403 hits

mostly good points but a few questions to ask yourself
- if Fisters pitching style plays right into the Giants free swinging style then how come he has owned them this season?
-What are the chances of three 3 game sweeps in a row happening? The two teams who have been swept so far were proverbial choke artists several times down the stretch especially the Tigers. This is not the Tigers we are talking about here
-Fister hasnt pitched since Sep 26th and Bum coming off 4 days rest. Also Giants have had to play an extra game and with how inconsistent of a hitting team they are at +125 for them to drop one here after winning 3 straight has lots of value.
-Bumgarner has a higher walk rate than Fister despite having a lower K rate.
- This game will likely be low scoring and be one on a couple opportunistic swings of the bat given both starters are virtually even. Is the price of -140 worth the odds of winning this game?
just some things to think about. no pick on the game yet

that paints a very weak picture.....
nats hit more homers, have higher slugging percentage, OBP and OPS..... and giants ARE A MUCH better road team than home team.....
I know you're a fan i can clearly see that.... don't start mentioning websites like baseball reference....as if no one here has ever heard of baseball reference before..... thanks for the insight though.
Giants do have some pedigree and experience that goes a long way and not so easily quantifiable as stat numbers.

A) Fister can definitely own them, as I stated originally. he is quite capable of throwing a gem, but WSH needs him to. SFG pitching is equally matched if not slightly better. If fister doesnt go 7 giants have the adv.
B) 3 games in a row? meh, I take it 1 game at a time noting the 18 inning emotional letdown aspect.
C) nice call on the BB rate. Very cogent point I missed. that depresses my hunch a lot.
D) i think the price is fair, having been on the losing side of 15 inning games when I played AA ball, I truly know how bad it feels to let those one go. my bet is WSH clenches the bats first 3 innings when bumgarner is the weakest.

@Gene I am not a fan, I am a professional better. but then again who isn't these days... post numerical facts that disprove what i am saying and I will be much more likely to say you are right and I am wrong. As far as I can tell, the giants are quite capable of hitting the ball.
anyway, I love this conversation instead of posting losing picks with bizarre emoticons. please prove me wrong, information is always a plus!!!!

Giants are horrible if they have to play "tight", as you put it, i noticed. Wish Giants line was a bit cheaper, but if i put $ on anyone in this one, it will be Giants.

@mancity, yah bro I know what you mean, but the line isn't getting cheaper sadly in my opinion, it may even be worth betting WSH if the line drops any more. that is scary though because so much relies on Fister being dominant.

Span, Werth, La Rouche, Harper....chokers all in fact. Rendon is the only Washington hitter showing up. Regular season stats don't mean a lot when the Nats hitters are doing their best to mimic wax figurines in Madame Tussaud's.

best_bets insulting @GeneCam27 is really distasteful. please keep that out of the writeups and offer real information on the game so we can all benefit.
Its about beating the bookies (those rat person) not each other.

flash_diamond ~ Best of luck to you pal, but intelligent write ups on Covers forums are a waste of time. Covers is more than a forum, it is a culture, and while 80% of it is ignorant, boring losers looking for support and popularity among other ignorant, boring losers, the people that have tried to make a difference with worthwhile contributions have never even made a dent in the overall mental perception of what sports betting really is. What you will find is that if you win the bashers don't come back and say "nice call" but if you lose they will be all over the place with "I told you so, you idiot". BOL
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

I just did in my previous post. When you put everything into perspective their (Nats) offensive numbers are greater with a deeper line up.
Obviously that doesn't always translate into them out hitting their opponent. Both games were close it could have gone the other way and we can sit here tied 1-1 or have the Nats up 2-0.
If you recall, 2 years Giants were down 2-0 vs. the reds facing a sweep. They came back and won the series, and eventually the world series that year after they swept the Tigers.

Excellent analysis of this matchup. I will be betting on the Giants today because of the reason highlighted. That and I believe they have better than a 30 cent edge. The Giants' lefthanded lineup will get to Fister today. I think Pablo will jack one off him.
Thanks for you input.
