On first look, this appears to be the worst call in MLB history!
But, look at the different camera angles....The catcher never tagged the runner. He missed. Youtube the angles. I was 110% sure the runner was out until I looked at the film.
A great call from a shitty ump. This ump had a terrible strike zone last night.

Starting at frame 1:07....You can see that the catcher did a great job guarding the plate BUT he clearly WIFFS the runner as he tries to tag him with an upward arm swipe.....NOTICE how his glove never breaks "stride". He never made contact through the whole swipe. UNREAL

I think he barely tags him on the leg, but it is not a very clean tag that is for sure. I can see how in real time a human being could say that he whiffed. I mean the ball clearly beat him there, a tagging motion was made, 99.9% of the time the umpire would call the guy out based on that alone.

I agreee...Thats why I think the Ump made a great call. He saw that the tag was not made. .1% chance of making that call. This is why it is the call of the year. Everyone jumps to assumptions
Remember....assumptions makes an ass out of u an me !

Naw. Lugo busted the Matrix right there and the ump was the Agent to see that. Either way everyone is going to call it how they see it, so it's time to move on.

Please... all you have to see is everyone's reaction (including Lugo's) to know he was out.
There is no way anyone can justify this call... It was one of the worst I've ever seen.
Please, look at the video...Haha. Your only assuming. Please show me the frame where he is tagged. Dont look like an ignorant person by assuming based on emotion. Show me prove. I provided the video.
Thank you for your reply, my friend....Just back it up with fact

You are completely wrong. I have viewed several still photos of the tag and it was obvious...check out lugo on the replay..he knew he was out...he didn't jump up and act like he was safe....

Are you joking? Forget about the initial tag all together even though he did tag him.....look at where Lugo's slide ends....he comes up out of his slide a foot short of home plate! Even if he wasn't tagged before, it clearly shows him making contact with the catcher after he stands up and before he touches the plate.....until this minute I don't think Lugo has touched home plate!

Worst call ever, Chad. 10-1 you had atlanta. Or are an Atlanta fan. Awful way to end a historic game.
