I just got back home. My runner for the day didn't show up for work today, so by 10:30 PT I had to split and go out placing bets myself. The number that sent me out the door was Station Casinos going to +130 on the Mets. I will savor that win for a long time. It's not every day I get to benefit from a Mariano Rivera blown save. In fact, it's not every year. In fact, I can't remember the last time he screwed up and it helped me. I did once get to see a Rivera blown save in person. It happened in Anaheim, and it had to be at least ten years ago, because I just tried to look up the game and couldn't find it searching as far back as 2002. Rivera blew the save and the game, too. I think the final was 6-5.
The Jays came through, as Cliff Lee finally cracked. Too bad I managed to make the minimum profit on such a glorious winner. The idea, which more than a few of us agreed upon this morning, was that the Blue Jays +170, over 8, and the Blue Jays team total over were all plays. I didn't bet the over simply because I hate betting overs. I didn't bet the team total over because my only two options were over 3 -125 and over 3.5 +105. And finally, I split my bet between the first 5 innings and game, partly out of necessity (because my runner flaked, and by the way - he's fired), and partly because I thought Lee would cave in early, so it wasn't a bad idea. As Lee worked on the Jays in the bottom of the 5th, I texted a buddy and wrote "Jays will get to Lee later AFTER my 1st 5 inning action is put to sleep." And of course, that's exactly what happened. I wasn't exactly celebrating in that bottom of the 8th when Toronto began smashing home runs, knowing I was going to win little when I should have won a ton.

UMF, someday, when you die, you're going to have a one car funeral.

What about Cards +135 Gigantes +120 Twins +118 Doyers +129 Tribe +164 and Royals+140 none of these stand out? Play all 6 and you will come out with a nice profit in my Opinion
Out of those six, I had only the Twins +110. We all love to complain bitterly when some dude makes an error that mortally wounds our bet, so it's only right we acknowledge when we got lucky thanks to someone else's mistake. So thank you, Mark Kotsay, for misplaying Danny Valencia's 7th inning two-out bases loaded single into a bases clearing single and two-base error.

Cool story!

It could be. And it could also be that UMF is a deeply self-loathing, hateful, petulant, bumbling moron who seems to enjoy having me kick him in the balls from time to time. And you know what? I'm happy to do it.

nice call/hit on the Jays............but as for the Yanks/Mets, to win a game where Mariano had two outs no one on, and 2 strikes on 2 of the next 3 batters.........well
congrats on one of "those" days
