The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) thought it had excellent special effects and a decent story line. entertaining movie. been running on STARZ
WWII in HD: The Air War (2010). was on History International last night. I think people don't realize just how dangerous flying a bomber for the 8th Air Force over Europe during WWII was. of dangerous job during WWII, only Japanese pilots and German U-boat crews had higher percentage losses than American bomber crews

Old movie California Split 4/5
one of my top five gambling/sports theme movies of all time. did you rent the tape-DVD or was it on a TV movie channel? I keep hoping that TCM or one of the other classic movie channels will air it.
Hey I love watching WWII History stuff. I enjoyed The Nazis Rise and Fall on the History Channel lately... Im also always a sucker for Hitler's Bodyguard and The World at War, both on the military history channel.
The World at War is one of the BEST WWII documentaries EVER esp with Sir Laurence Olivier's narration. I can watch it over and over. the Military Channel is one of my default channels to check when there is "nothing really on" the TV.
I wish the History or Military channels would air The Unknown War which was produced in 1978 and narrated by Burt Lancaster. it's the most complete history of "Great Patriotic War" as Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia and most other states of the former Soviet Union call their battle against the NAZI's in WWII. had a lot of perviously unseen Soviet film footage of the the war. I recorded it off PBS back in 1978 and wish I had saved the tapes

Dogfights is also another History-Military channels series I can watch over and over. not only are the storys of various air battles of the 20th Century outstanding history but the CGI used to depict them is mind blowing excellent. my father was a huge aviation history buff and I wish he was still alive to view these.

Yea I'd love to see The Unknown War LeRinkRat!
I really don't know WHY The History Channel has never run it.
because the US and Soviet Union were at odds over the Russians being in Afghanistan abck in the late 1970's, I know there was a LOT of criticism of the series when it ran back in 1978. maybe it's "lost footage" that was never archived here in the West BUT you would think the Russians would still have copies.
would really be too bad IF it was lost forever.

Sleeper (1973)
watched this old Woody Allen-Diane Keaton "Sci-Fi Comedy" classic the other night on TCM. worth watching just for the sight gags and great dixieland jazz soundtrack. kind of "stupid funny" like most Woody Allen films but fun to watch.

watched The Other Guys late last night. I'm not a big fan of Will Farrell or Mark Whalberg movies BUT this one was REALLY funny in spots and had excellent action esp the car chases. was NOT what I expected. would definately recommend it.
also had a crazy "plot twist" at the very end where the bitch that runs the crooked-corrupt hedge fund, instead of going to jail (or getting shot), gets a TARP bailout. they then go on to list all the ways the Wall Street Weasels and Corporate Outsourcing Quislings have FUCKED middle class worker-taxpayers and their shareholders in the closing credits
it's on the STARZ premium movie channel again sunday and monday aug 14th and 15th

The A-team (2010)
very predictable "oodles of ordnance" action film based on the old TV series. Liam Neeson is no George Peppard and Quinton Jackson is no Laurence "Mr T" Tureaud. guess it's OK IF you like the genre. did have some interesting CGI and pretty much non-stop action BUT I thought it was pretty mindless and the obvious "tease" for a re-make at the end was lame.

the websitefilms people E-mailed me back ref: The Unknown War that "It is was a great series, but we lost it to lawyers in NYC and never heard anything since. Some Polish guy from Volkswagen in Warsaw wrote and told me it was available in Russian in Poland, with Burt Lancaster speaking.....russian! His accent sounded almost as good as Arnie Schwarzeneger's!
