Watched most of mallrats had never seen it before. It was pretty funny jay and silent bob were awesome.
In Bruges (2008) VERY entertaining "gangster comedy-drama" with Colin Farrell , Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. thought it was well acted and had a number of quite funny sight gags and one liners. had somewhat of a "Guy Ritchie style" feel to it. definite must see IF you like movies like Snatch or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Need to finally give "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" a go too I guess.
I was sceptical too, KinKAID BUT it was pretty good with excellent CGI, action and a plot that was somewhat different from the typical "Planet of the Apes" tripe

The Debt...well worth watching. A story thought to be true turns out to be lie that needs to be rectified.
decent spy-thriller with a "twist" half way thru BUT they probably could have told the story in 90 minutes.
watched Joe and Max (2002) once again the other night, really well made move about the events and aftermath of the 1936 and 1938 Joe Lewis vs Max Schmeling fights. along with being a good boxing movie, it gives a good overview of the racial politics of the time both in Germany AND America. Leonard Roberts is excellent as Joe Lewis and Til Schweiger is outstanding as Schmeling. Peta Wilson is absolutely lucious as Schmeling's wife Anny Ondra.
well worth watching IF you are into boxing OR history

Duvall is one of my favorite actors.
Pecador, IF you want to see a REALLY good relatively unknown Robert Duvall movie, I just watched Secondhand Lions (2003) also with Michael Caine. it's funny, fast paced, has some good action and is just an overall FUN movie. it's on the STARZ Kids & Family again tuesday Oct 23rd and STARZ Edge Sunday Oct 28th.
I would say

The Whistleblower (2010) REALLY good crime-thriller based on the true story of DynCorp security contractor Kathryn Bolkovac who uncovered others in her company were sex trafficking young Ukrainian girls into Bosnia and "blew the whistle" on their activities which put here in great personal danger. has some EXCELLENT action scenes and suspense throughout.
excellent cast with Rachel Weisz as Kathryn Bolkovac, action movie favorite David Strathairn as her ally Peter Ward, Vanessa Redgrave as Madeleine Rees the British lawyer who works with Bolkovac is trying to "repatriate" the trafficked girl back to their home countries.
has been on the EPIX-HD channels recently and I highly recommend it.

The Campaign (2012)
REALLY looking forward to seeing it. Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis have to be two of the funniest comedians in film today.
watched The Accused (1988) last night on HBO. Jodie Foster won here first best actress oscar for her portrayal of rape victim looking for payback Sarah Tobias and I think it's still here best roll after Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs. I also think it was Kelly McGillis's best roll ever as district attorney Kathryn Murphy. GREAT drama all the way around
also watched Mobsters (1991) on Cinemax with Christian Slater as "Lucky" Luciano, Patrick Dempsey as Meyer Lansky, F. Murray Abraham as Arnold Rothstein, Michael Gambon as Salvatore Maranzano (aka Faranzano in the movie) and Anthony Quinn as Joe "The Boss" Masseria. relatively unknown actor Nicholas Sadler was outstanding as psyco hit man Mad Dog Coll. GREAT "mob history" that pretty much chronicles the rise of the New York Mafia during prohibition. definately worth watching IF your into "mob movies"

happened to watch the last two thirds of Mother Night (1996) last night. it's a somewhat wierd Kurt Vonnegut WWII spy thriller based on the true story of Nazi propagandist Howard W. Campbell, Jr played by Nick Nolte. in typical Vonnegut fashion it has a LOT of wierd "plot twists" throughout the film and esp near the end. also stars Sheryl Lee as Campbell's wife/love interest, John Goodman, and Alan Arkin
I got hooked after watching about 5 minutes of it and stayed up thru the end at 4 am in the morning. VERY well acted drama by all involved and well worth watching. it's on the Encore Drama channel again Saturday Nov 3rtd and Sunday the 4th

The Thing (1982)
John Carpenter's "The Thing" is one of the most entertaining horror films ever made. Fast, clever and pure excitement from start to finish. This is how all movies of this genre should be made.

OOPS!!! you can't always trust a Wikipage. the character of Campbell is based somewhat on the Irish-American fascist William Joyce, aka "Lord Haw Haw", who was a Nazi propaganda broadcaster during WWII BUT is a Vonnegut fictional character that appears not only in Mother Night but also his novel (movie) Slaughterhouse-Five

watched Fritz Lang's 1931 German classic "M" (aka "Morder unter Uns" - The Murderer is among Us)" on TCM last night. it's about the hunt for a seriel murderer of childern and was Lang's first 'talkie". it was Peter Lorre's first staring roll as Hans Beckert the murderer and set the stage for his career playing rather "creepy" parts. excellent plot and acting and well worth renting or recording IF your into "early German classics", definate in my opinion
also watched the 1945 Warner Brothers "war propaganda" film Hotel Berlin which is a "spy-thriller" about various people staying in the hotel as they try to plan their escape from Germany at the end of WWII. great cast featuring Faye Emerson, Raymond Massey, Peter Lorre, Alan Hale and English actor Henry Daniell who, like Lorre, was famous for his rather "creepy" villain roles in the 1940's. well acted and had good suspense. watched the latest made for HBO movie The Girl about Alfred Hitchcock's sexual obsession with actress Tippi Hedren when they worked together on both The Birds and Marnie. kind of a plodding plot BUT both Toby Jones as Hitchcock and Sienna Miller as Hedren are excellent and I think it's worth recording for the acting
English actor Toby Jones is one of the GREAT character actors of our time and his transformation into the bloated, jowly Hitchcock is amazing BUT his performance is NOT nearly as good as his 2006 portrale of Truman Capote in Infamous which I believe is MUCH better than the 2005 Philip Seymour Hoffman portrale in Capote. IF the year of those two films release is reversed, then Toby Jones gets the Oscar. IF you enjoyed the Hoffman's Capote then you definately want to see Infamous and you will see what I mean.
btw, previously mention films The Whistleblower is on the new EPIX1-HD channel again Nov 3rd @ 12:45 am pacific and In Bruges is on HBO Signature Sunday Nov 4th and Tuesday Nov 6th
