For those of you that don't know, Pec is referring to Treasure Of Sierra Madre, a classic B/W movie starring................wait for it...............Humphrey Bogart! Directed by John Huston. Bogart and his partner work like hell in S.America for a few weeks, and his boss tries to stiff him for the money. Bogey and his pal are at the Mexican bar mentioned above and beat the holy crap outta him when he tries to take it on the lamb.
Also in the movie, he buys a lottory ticket from a little Mexican boy. Played by...................................Robert Blake!
Gotta love Bogey. Jamming Lauren Becall when she was only 19!

Hawk knows some Bogart. If I play the best movies game then "Casablanca", "Sierra Madre", "Maltese Falcon", "Caine Mutiny" all come right to the top.
How did a plain looking guy with not so special acting skills get all those roles? I guess Bogie was just another force of nature. I've always wondered how it happened. Glad it did.
"Key West", African Queen" and "Petrified Forest" were other great Bogies but there is another I can't remember the name. He played a con on the run who helped a child and the great Ida Lupino was in it? Good "B" movie. He lost the run in the California Sierra. Damn?
And yes, doing a teenage Bacall is sweet. I think she is less than zero as a actress but a nice piece! GL, Doc

Glad you mentioned "Pertrified Forest". Leslie Howard (most famous for Gone With The Wind role of Ashley Wilkes-the guy Scarlett O'Hara cannot live without) and Bogart were doing Petrified Forest on Broadway when Hollywood offered Howard the role for the movie. The only way Howard agreed to it was if, and ONLY IF, Bogart got to play the bad guy Duke Mantee, in the moview. This was a HUGE role for Bogart. In a smaller role, check out Bette Davis......
How big was this role for Bogart? Ask his daughter, Leslie Howard Bogart.............
The movie you're thinking of is "High Sierra"
