Foo Fighters might be more late 90's , but seems to be one of the few carrying the torch of Rock n' Roll / Alternative right now.

Nevermind gets waaay too much credit.
Janes Addiction, NIN, RHCP, and a bunch of other bands that I'm not thinking of, had already broken the ground, there had already been a changing of the guard.
I mean even 'Bleach' and Soundgarden's 'Louder than love' were already pretty well known by 91'.
Nevermind was just the first to go massively mainstream.

I agree.. their later work including Lateralus took more time to grown on me , but is a fine album. I'd give it another try. Daney Carey on drums takes to another level on this one. Tool has a great sound all their own.
