5. TOOL
* on a side note, when I was 9, I asked my Mom if I could go see the Beastie Boys with my friend Scott and his Uncle Rick. She did'nt really know about the Beasties and let me go... That was my first concert... The next summer , when I was 10 , my friend Scott and my older brother and I went to see the Def Jam Summer tour. Featuring Public Enemy; Whodini; Dougie Fresh & Slick Rik; Eric B & Rakim; U.T.F.O.; LL Cool J; and the Fat Boys.
Gotta love the Old Skool baby

A couple of friends of mine were at that show & got too meet Dave Gahan... They talked with him for about 30 minutes or so and said he was cool as shit.... Very down to earth and chill.
However, I got to go back stage at the last show in Tampa and Martin Gore was the biggest "rock star pimp" I've seen.... Martin had like 8 chicks that could'nt of been older than 20 hanging all over him... He was freaking crazy... Totally unexpected, as I always thought he'd be kinda shy...
BTW... I tried to ask you in another thread a while ago.. Have you heard Dave's new solo album? It's called Hourglass, and is better thanPaper Monsters I think.... Real good stuff.
They are going back into the studio in march.... So we'll get at least 1 more DM album.. And tour...

Well Martin got divorced so I guess he's living it up. I would if I was him!
Yeah, I've been listening to Paper Monster and I wasn't sure at first but I've really warmed up to it.
I didn't know they were going back into the studio.

1. Tool - Feb. 18, 1994. Roseland Ballroom, NYC. By far the best show I have ever seen.
2. Clutch - this is my favorite band. Hard to pick one show but seeing them on a boat cruising around the Hudson was pretty sweet - Aug. 27, 2007.
3. Jane's Addiction - it was 1991 or 1992 at the Ritz in NYC. My first show at a club. Unbelievable.
4. Infectious Grooves - May 17, 1994 at The Academy in NYC. My brother had a busted leg so we sat in the first row of the balcony. Great view of the band and the pit. Acoustics in that place were unbelievable. (Saw Marilyn Manson play there New Year's Eve 1995 as well. He did and said unspeakable things.)
5. Anthrax - Aug. 11, 1993. Roseland Ballroom, NYC. Quicksand and White Zombie opened. Singer from Quicksand said he had a hoarse throat but he could have fooled me. White Zombie was sick. Thought I'd hate Anthrax after they changed singers but this guy nailed both the old and new stuff then jumped off the speaker maybe 20 feet up into the pit.
Other notables: Stone Temple Pilots - Aug.3 ,1993. Roseland. They dressed as Kiss. Nirvana - Jul. 23, 1993. Just glad I got to see them at all. Marilyn Manson - Oct. 29, 1996. Roseland. Don't own any of their albums and not a big fan of theirs overall but have seen them several times. He knows how to perform.Limp Bizkit - Feb. 27, 1998. Hammerstein Ballroom. Another band that I'm not a huge fan of. This was before they blew up. I didn't even know who they were that night. Only went because Clutch was opening. I left saying Holy shit was that a good(and not because of Clutch). The Police - mid 80's at Shea Stadium. My first show and I couldn't have been more than 10. It was raining but we had indoor box seats. REM and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts opened. Primus - Aug. 3, 1995. Awesome.

Doors - Final tour in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena, 1970. They were touring on the Morrison Hotel album. It wasw post-Miami. Jim was grunged out with workshirt in jeans. The version of "Soul Kitchen" that appears on the double live album is from that show.
Grateful Dead-- pick a show. Best concert scene ever, doesn't matter the venue. It's all in your head. The tribes always came out for Dead shows.
Pink Floyd. Atom Heart Mother. Syria Mosque, Pittsburgh. 1971. During "Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun," I saw the God that God prays to. This was before "Dark Side" and only a few people knew who the band was, and nobody left disappointed. They don't make bands or window pane acid like that any more.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse -- Greendale Tour at Red Rocks.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. 1996. Fiddler's Green, Denver. Rained like fucking crazy at an outdoor venue and nobody cared. It's good to be king.

Watkins Glen--Summer Jam, July 1973. This show really should be on my list above. It was the Grateful Dead, The Band and The Allman Brothers. My buddy Larry and I hitchhiked from Pittsburgh with six peanut butter jelly sandwiches, a few apples and an ounce of dope. Fuck it. Put this show at the top of my list!
Frank Zappa & The Mothers at the University of Pittsburgh.

Not really a Depeche fan, but I respect where you're coming from.
I actually lucked out because I went to Hawaii for vacation a month ago and they happened to be playing there. It was an amazing show. It wasn't as badass as when they were younger (according to Youtube) but it was amazing nonetheless.

Anybody here like anything besides metal/classic rock?
I'm sure many do. I've seen Billy Joel, Gordon Lightfoot, Robin Trower, Neil Sedaka, The Police, etc. It just appears as though the metal & classic rock bands have put on the best concerts. Remember the title of this thread.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Phish @Big Cypress 1999. Best show ever hands down. Nothing even comes close. Played from around 8PM until the sun came up at 7:00AM.
