Obviously there have been a lot of great debut albums. Shit that makes you go, 'Hey these guys are pretty damn good, and they simply get it". Whatever that it is, going to be tough to define....off the top of my head, I'll go with:
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
The Pretenders
The Stone Roses
Oasis
The Killers
Pile them on folks...who you got

The Smashing Pumpkins' first "Gish" was great as was Guns and Roses "Appetite for Destruction". Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Texas Flood" was fucking awesome along with The Doors self titled first album....all good shit.

DSN, you read my mind on that Van Halen. I think we talked phone once, and were right around the same age....That VH album was what....1978? Biggest thing that year if I recall.
Brain is tired now at 4am, but PF The Wall was '79 or '80? can't believe I can't reference that year immediately.

Not in terms of money, tour, hype, but Mick Jones' first Big Audio Dynamite album was fantastic. Every track.
Talking Heads first album knocked us kids over since we were atb the time in the late '70s looking fo any alternative rock we could find....Probably put The Police 1st album along with it.
Don't know why, but I can't toss the Clash's 1st vinyl in there because maybe London Calling in 1980 was just so great.....
Goo call on the Pretenders one Dude Abides. Heck, your whole list was good.

These are the ones I remember in my years of listening to music. Most of these have been mentioned above except maybe Alanis Morissette and X. These are in no paticular order and I am sure I have left out many others.
Beastie Boys- you gotta fight for your right to party!
Elvis Costello- this debut had so many top notch songs
Boston- a Tom Scholz masterpiece
The Pretenders- love Chrissie Hynde
Van Halen- first exposure to Eddie Van Halen's amazing guitar work. WOW!
The Ramones- 2 minute long songs of nothing but insanity
The Clash- The begining of a fond love
Sex Pistols- God save the Queen
GNR- Sweet Child blasting in the streets of Newport Beach
Alanis Morissette- a lady at work played this non stop for one month straight
X- great poetry delivered with a punk rock assult

Jimmag, Alanis would have made my list for sure. But she was like a teeny-booper kid that released 2 albums. Read on wiki, that it was just in Canada though...so you're safe, haha
First time I heard You Oughta Know ,figured she would be a star. Raw emotion in that tune. The whole album was great
