Nuggets 4 seed currently, 46 wins, lose tiebreaker to Lakers, 5 games remaining: @Warriors/Pacers/@Kings/Grizz/@Hou
So the fight for 3 seed is here. Let's pretend Nuggs go at best 4-1 to get to 50 wins. Then for Lakers to maintain 3 seed and avoid OKC until Finals, then they'd have to go 4-3 as they win the tiebreaker over Nuggs. They'll beat Pels tomorrow and probably split in OKC as OKC will jockey teams for seeding. That means they have to win 2 of last 3, and that is worst case scenario as if Nuggs go 3-2 the Lakes lock up 3 seed. So, Lakers can afford a loss tonight...and why would they purposefully do that?
Warriors 5 seed currently, 44 wins, win tiebreaker vs Wolves (44 wins) & Grizz (44 wins) and lose tiebreaker to Clips (44 wins), 7 games remaining: @Lakers/Nuggs/Rockets/@Phx/Spurs/@Blazers/Clips
If Lakes win tonight, they may spoil the opp of getting a Nuggs/Ws 4/5 match-up as Grizz/Clips/Wolves have an easier sched coming down the stretch.
I believe that GMs, coaches and owners know all this and try to position accordingly. I'd be shocked if Lakers win tonight, not broke, but surprised. This game will tell a lot on my theory beginning this thread b/c if Ws lose that directly places a possible 3/6 Lakes/Ws match-up which in my mind will not happen in any universe.

I’m with you on the warriors straight wagers. Largeee. I love your angles with seeding and teams worried of facing OkC. I don’t see anyone containing curry. Warriors play better team ball. Warriors have the better coach. And warriors have curry. The best player and hardest player to guard on the court IMO. Luka is to slow for the fast guards and Butler is going to lock him. Lakers don’t match well with teams that play faster than them. They lost to the bulls at home . Kept it close with the rockets. Warriors in a rout. 44 units on -1.5 let’s goooooo

good luck @queens anything can happen but this is not a playoff preview for these teams imo, this is an understanding bt/w GMs and coaches to get in best position...sort of like a gentleman's agreement to possibly get Ws a home series in 1st round

That's funny SQ...I'm an avg, but more than funny, white guy. When my organization had their DEI talks they went around the room and asked if someone played you who'd it be and I said without hesitation Denzel. The whole room skipped a beat and I've owned that company ever since.
Have to look what's not there.

Well, this theory may be kaput unless (and pls chime in here and help me) Warriors lose last game to Clips AND Grizz lose last game at Dallas?? Wouldn't that put Warriors in 7th? ....geez a lot still rides on last games in the West for positioning!

"If the Warriors and Wolves win, the Wolves would finish fifth, the Warriors sixth and the Clippers seventh, by virtue of head-to-head record between the three teams." So, basically, if Warriors win they face Lakers 1st round, if they lose to Clips Sunday then they host Grizz in play-in then (if they win that) get to play Houston then face Lakers in 2nd round if they win that series.
I'm still going to hang my hat that the League does not want a 1st round Lakers/Warriors match-up at that means 1 of them is gone. A 2nd round Lakers/Warriors meeting to see who faces OKC is much more compelling, and you'd get 2 series w/ Lakers and 2 series with Warriors instead of just 1....that's too good imo to pass up. Plus a Clips loss pushes them into the play-in maybe so they should be motivated.

This is maybe too much information but I grew up in in the 80s in the Bay Area, Oakland/Albany/Berkley to be specific in a single parent household, and it was magical. No cell phones, no anything but great music and trying desperately to hook up with chicks above my grade. Life was so simple. The Bay Area was the Bay then. My single Mom would give me $10 a week and I'd, as a 13 yo, would buy a round-trip BART ticket, bleacher seats and a hot dog an coke to As games at the Coliseum for $7 when they were winning pennants, always on my own no one else. Point being, there's certain moments that come along in life when you have to grab them and not look back. This is one of them win or lose.

Thanks Logic, LV and devil. A little pucker factor but glad to get the big win and Warriors out of a Lakers round 1 match-up, now we may see them in Round 2.
I'm really wanting to like the Clips series bet +150 vs Nuggs, any thoughts there?
