Just from a "way they did it" perspective, Durant x1,000,000 over LeBron here. Durant and LBJ were both drafted to terrible teams when they came into the league. Both mads those teams much better, Durant in OKC and James for the Cavs. Durant's extension is worth 17.2 a year, and LBJ is at 18.3, so let's say about the same ballpark money wise for each. Durant stayed loyal, and OKC built around him getting them to where they are today. LBJ whored himself out to play with Bosh and Wade in Miami, instead of letting Cleveland pay him about the same to build around him there to get to where he is today. Tons more respect for Durant and how he went about his business vs. how LBJ handled it. I hope OKC smokes the Heat in this series.
yep if lebron had a russell westbrook , a james harden, a serge ibaka , and a kendrick perkins in cle, hed still be there, 2 total dif situations, okc was able to ad peices through the draft and trades cle couldnt , much better management for okc

all the hater responses are all childish, there are alot worse things this guy could do than a stupid press conference, i look at what the guy does on the court and what he does off the court in his personal life, he has achieved excellence in both, im not the type of person who dislikes people easily , especially for silly shit, it almost feels like some of u are relivin high school all over again, as for me im out of high school and dont miss it!!

people are so funny sayin if lebron had westbrook and harden are u people serious he has wade and bosh
I believe most people are referring to his days in Cleveland, where he never had talent comparable to both Westbrook and Harden, at any time, on his squad. Not to his current situation with Wade and Bosh.
It is a valid point that really implies the significant disparity in management between the 2 franchises(Gilbert/Ferry vs. Bennett/Presti). OKC has done a much better job at drafting(especially) and with free agent acquisitions.
Here are the Cavs draft picks since LBJ vs OKC's draft picks since KD:
Cavs:
2003-LBJ, J. Kapono
2004-Luke Jackson
2006-Shannon Brown, Daniel Gibson, Ejike Ugboaja
2008-JJ Hickson
2009-Christian Eyenga, Danny Green
OKC:
2007-KD, Glen Davis, Carl Landry
2008-R. Westbrook, Ibaka, Sharpe, Plaisted, Devon Hardin, Sasha Kaun
2009-J. Harden R. Beaubois
2010-Eric Bledsoe, Craig Brackins, Q. Pondexter, Magnum Rolle
2011-Reggie Jackson
Looking at the above players, the differences in drafting talent are clearly pronounced and strongly favor OKC's management and evaluation skills. The Cavs did not draft particularly well and never had a potential All-Star develop through any of their recent drafts---is that LBJ's fault?

all these haters are stuck at a childish mindset that looks at players like GODS so they judge at what they say and their personality outside of the court... it's so pathetic and ridiculous. I bet these same haters would be sucking off Lebron literally if they saw him in real life... they would be begging for his autograph.
I look at someone like Lebron as just another regular person.. A very talented basketball player and I couldn't give a flying shit about his character because I'm not looking to date him...
too many people in today's society
Lebron, enjoy your millions bro

How long was both 1st contract? How much better is Durants team after 1st contract was over? If Durant was on Cavs who is to know if he stays or takes the right he has earned through FA and leaves. I said this in another similar thread but what has LeBron done outside of the poor choice of making decision on TV and making a couple MILLION for boys and girls club? I would be really interested in a poll of all GMs in league to see if they didnt have to give their name with chioce who they would take LeBron or KD. I would be shocked if it wasnt 80% LeBron, IMO he is much better all around.

This is exactly my point.... If LeBron moved from cleveland u'd be like "he's a betrayer! and he is an idiot for not sticking to his original team and home town!" And if he didnt leave then you would say he is an idiot for not grabbing the oppertunity to get a ring, to fullfill the dreams he have.
No matter where u go, there will always be haters.

Don't hate because Cleveland is just a crap city. Nothing good comes from that city. LeBron was smart enough to realize and made the right decision to leave Cleveland. If Cleveland wanted to keep LeBron then they would've got some decent players to join LBJ.
What if everyone felt that way ?

I still just think, at the end of the day--most Lebron 'haters' are not so much haters of his on court talent, but haters of who he seems to be/what he did. Which is exactly where I stand. I recognize that he is a supremely gifted and talented athlete. I just find him to be a shmuck of a human being, for the way that he gave Cleveland the middle finger. You're a pro athlete, pro athletes are allowed to decide to go elsewhere. I don't hate on him for that. I hate on him for HOW he did it, on national TV in a spectacle that was outright embarrassing.
Plus, to me--if you want to be the MAN, you want to be THE man. You don't try to assemble a supergroup--you want to be somewhere where YOU are the star. So to me, if he wasn't going to stay in Cleveland, NJ or NY made the next most sense. Anyway, that was his to decide, more power to him. Had he made that decision not on national TV but just like any other free agent, everything would be completely different, at least in terms of how I view him. I still have questions about his clutch factor, and how I don't always feel like he is being as aggressive as he should be--but he is one of the most gifted players to ever step on the court. I just find him to be a jackass.

Seriously just because people aren't kissing LBJ's ass they are considered haters right? We def weren't the ones that announced that we guarantee 7+ rings before even winning ONE first! We weren't the ones that decided to stage the decision and screw over your own hometown after 7 years. They deserved better than giving a big ole F U on national television. You then go and stage a huge bash instead of being humble and respectful. We weren't the ones making fun of Dirk in the Finals. We weren't the ones acting like villains.
You were and still are the best player in the NBA but you decided to go join forces with a top 3 player and another top 10-15 star player instead of taking on the challenge. LBJ said he had to do it because he wanted to get past the Celtics and their big 3. Since when did LBJ start looking at what others do and following? Wasn't he the one that said he wanted to do things HIS way? Then people want to bring up Jordan had Pippen. Um hello did everyone forget that JORDAN molded Pippen into the player that he became?? So you say Jordan in his 1st 3 rings had Horace and then in the last 3 he had Rodman. Horace was a good player but by no means a BOSH. Rodman was a beast defender and rebounder but what did he bring offensively? Jordan wouldn't leave Chicago to team up with others because he had too much pride and a never say die attitude. He had the will to win. He would only do it with Chicago and he stuck by that. LBJ threw in the towel and joined forces with stars. People will then bring up the fact that Chicago and Cleveland are 2 different cities. Who the heck wanted to play for Chicago before Jordan? Yea they had great players before but it wasn't like players were flocking to Chicago to play. Jordan put Chicago on the map as a basketball city. LBJ could have done it with Cleveland but he was a coward. If you call this hating then be it so. I'm just pointing out facts.

durant is a legend. when i got to hang out with him I couldn't believe how good of a guy he was. No chance Lebron would shoot the shit with some avg joe white boy fan.

durant is a legend. when i got to hang out with him I couldn't believe how good of a guy he was. No chance Lebron would shoot the shit with some avg joe white boy fan.
There was once a man named Jawad, he rode on a donkey through the city
while his small son went next to him. As he rode through the town, people
whispered "look at Jawad, why is he letting the small son walk, while he is riding the donkey himself" Jawad heard that, the day after he placed the son on the donkey and went next to it, when he again rode through the town,
people whispered "Look at Jawad, why is he beside the donkey, while
his fresh young boy is sitting on the donkey." Jawad heard that, so the next day
Jawad and his son both rode on the donkey through the city and people whispered:
"Look at Jawad, why are they both riding the poor little donkey, it's so mean!" Jawad heard that, the day after both of them walked next to the donkey, but people whispered again: Look at Jawad and his son,
they are not even using their donkey, why are they so stupid not to ride on
it? Thats how i feel about Lebron. No matter what, there will always be haters, if he gets a ring or not you will hate, if he puts up 45 points on the board or not; you will hate. No matter what he does you will hate on this guy. It's unbelieveable. Some of you hate on him because he stated that he would go for 7 rings. The guy is just aiming for the stars. If Lebron shoots by himself, then he is a ballhog ego kid, if he doesn't take the shot himself then he is horrible. You hate on him for being arrogant and going for these 7 rings, and if he didnt aim for the 7 rings you would hate him for not having a killer instinct. If he wins the championship then he isnt a good basketball player, then he is only good because of his teammates. If LeBron bashed Granger in the Pacers series you would call him a sick and cruel player, if he didnt bash him you will accuse him of lacking the killer instinct. If he scores a clutch shot, then he isn't good for scoring a clutch shot, then he is horrible for allowing the game to be close. If he scores 45 points then he isn't good for having scored 45 points, then he is horrible for not scoring 47 points.
You will be hating on Lebron no matter what he does. It's fun to be on the Lebron hater band waggon, isn't it?
I couldn't read the boring story, but I skipped to the end, and the answer is yes, but it is not a bandwagon, it is just people of higher intelligence that realize what this guy REALLY is....a great athlete period He will never be as good as Kobe, Durant, Magic, and not even close to MJ.

Agree 100000% I was just showing the range that LeBron does not fall in. In NO WAY would I put Durant in the same skill level/category, etc... YET, his potential is there but no way would I say he is as good as any of them...my point was to cover a range of current and past players that LeBron is not in.
