I'm in small town visiting family, and there is a one grocery store, with a butcher, grocer, etc... And the conversation did take place and was funny as hell. Wh o knows, it may have been Kobezking:)

This is the kind of embarrassment that a man (if he is indeed a "man")must respond to and/or answer in unequivocal terms. In other words, in terms that another man can understand: in terms that negate the feminization that brought on the embarrassment. And the only way the Heat can do this (and this embarrassment affects the entire team, since, in losing LBJ, the other players could not man up and win the game without their man!), is by winning game 2 in unequivocal terms. Anything short of that, and the Heat run the risk of having to hear about how they lost the championship on a night when they, along with their fearless leader, shriveled under the heat. 

  The "national embarrassment angle".  Is that similar to the "refs and League game fixing angle"?  And did they win in "unequivocal terms"? It was dead even with a couple minutes to go.     They've won 13 straight after a loss in playoffs.  Every one of those have an angle??  Maybe it's just something they do because they are very good.  Probably don't need an "angle".

This is a very interesting question, from a capping standpoint, and I have an answer for you (one that goes beyond the fact that my cap was an addendum to what Force and Scal had already said), but your tone is so snarky and contemptuous that don't I want to waste my time answering you. haha, i get the same 'snarky', impolite replies in my threads (from the very few that do click in there) & i feel the same way about justifying them w/ a reply. I gots nothin' to prove, especially since i've been solid these playoffs going back to last season.

These two teams played in teh finals last year. 

They are virtually the same teams with a few pieces moving around. Adjustments will undoubtly be very similar to last year. 

One very small dynamic change is that this year it is a 2-2-1-1-1 series instead of a 2-3-2 series. 

So....... Miami has 2 games at home starting to tomorrow. As Scal said not sure who wins games 3 as Bron Bron should be extra motivated and riled up to not drop the first game at home and really put the spurs on their back. I also expect D Wade to visit he's local bio-technical pharmaceutical supplier in Miami and replenish on his human growth hormone and whatever else serious shiit he's stacking just to stay on the court. This guy was dragging his balls out there in game 2 and this was with air conditioning. 

Both teams are too talented (even broke back D Wade in this stage in his career is still world class) and extremely well coached. Now it's the Spurs turn to make the adjustments and take a game away. Just not totally sure which one it is...... But whoever loses game 3 I would feel pretty safe on betting them for game 4. 

Aside from that i was not pleased with what I saw from Miami in Game 2. They won the game but I really wasn't convinced. The 4 missed free throws that the Spurs GIFTED MIAMI late in the 4th quarter was essentially what cost them the game. And this could be a big big angle in determining a winner for the next game. I'm sure POP is going to harp on that big time as missed free throws cost them the championship last season.

I agree, it is a difficult game to cap. I lean Spurs, though, because of those missed opportunities. But if Wade had been mediocre in game 2, Miami wins by dd (IMO).

Miami shouldn't have to relegate to tacky stuff like that. That's a sign of weakness and subconscious feeling of understanding that the spurs might really take it away from them this year. I also didn't like all those desperation 3 pointers they took at the end halfway into the shot clock. i know they build their game around the 3 pointer but those looked bad unlike the usual miami 3 pointers. they looked more like OKC chucking up miracles than the usual Miami team. But a win is a win I was just looking for a more decisive victory I guess.

2nd nice writ-up in a row! Agree with almost everything here. Great observations. A couple of things. One, Miami would have had a more decisive victory if Wade hadn't missed something like 5 six-footers in a row. Every time Miami was about to push that 5 point lead (in the 3rd) to 7, Wade's shots would rim out. I thought they had real chance for a more decisive victory but failed to take advantage. Two, Chalmers elbow can be seen in two ways, as a sign of desperation/frustration or an attempt (desperate or otherwise) to try to throw SA off its game. The second would be more reminiscent of what the Celtics did to the Lakers, when McHale took down Rambus. That was a desperate strategy that worked and turned the series around. Also remember, you have to factor in that Miami's bench will play better at home and that will take some pressure off the Heat starters.

I must say "Again"...There is absolutely "0" Pressure on the Miami Heat to win tonight...No desperation and a Home game following a Big Win in San Antonio...

All of which spells trouble for Miami in my books...

The Heat tend to perform "MUCH" better following a Loss...I believe Lebron will be a little more laid back(Less attacking) and will have average numbers following tonight's game, and without Lebron having 35+ points in every game this series.....

It won't be enough to beat the Spurs tonight.....

Nice read on the game, Force. My lean was purely based on how the Spurs lost game 2 and their desire to make amends, but your regular season stats regarding Miami after a win really came to fruition. I usually don't put much stock in regular season trends for the playoffs but you were 100% right about this one. I still can't get my head around how the Heat didn't show up in the first half of their first home game in the finals. BTW, thanks to your persistence I put a few hundred on the game!

Seriously man, if you interact with the people in your life like this on a regular basis, you will find yourself with few to no options when you need someone to turn to or even talk to.

Example: an anonymous poster on a gambling website doesn't even want to address your comment because you can't help but be smug and insufferable.

Good observation, Scal. I'm on Heat next game, ATS, ML, you name it. No write-up needed, but I'll give my reasons anyway, in case people want to know:

1) Spurs played lights out (a historic first quarter/half performance): that won't happen again.
2) Leonard showed up LBJ and had a historic game for someone of his age: that won't happen again.
3) The Heat came out listless and uninterested: that won't happen again.
4) The refs were road dog refs through and through: that won't happen again.
5) Miami bench/role players have to show up at least once, don't they?: this is the game.
6) Were the Heat embarrassed on their home floor: yes, so we even have an embarrassment angle.
7) If the Heat lose this game is the series over?: yes, for all intents and purposes.
8) Does the NBA want at least six games?: Do misers love to hoard money?
9) Will the Spurs go all out to get this game if they fall behind by DD and the calls are going against them: I don't think so.

Did I miss anything?

I agree with "ALL" of your points!!!

The Spurs went crazy in the 1st Quarter shooting an amazing 19 of 21 to start the quarter...That's 90%...and went 60% for the game and 45% from 3 point land and 81% from the Free Throw Line...

That's not happening.....Miami's Defence will buckle down...They will be more active, they will take away the passing lanes and will take away the open looks that the Spurs had in Game #3...

What I also find very promising, was the fact that even though the Miami Heat were down by 25 points at one point in the game, they got nasty and brought it back to within 7 points...That's Incredible!!! They ran out of gas but sure put a scare into the Spurs...

I know if Miami gets up early in this game, it's "All Over" for the Spurs...They will wave the White Flag and will pull their starters early in the 4th Quarter...

The only thing that worries me is the amount of minutes Lebron played in the blow out, the spurs are so deep if they can keep it close going into the 4th they could pull it out.

Yes, Force, that was a very interesting tactical move by Spo. At first I thought why tire your guys out, just save them for the next game, but then I realized what he was doing. One, he was getting his guys ready for the next game (remind them of the proper attitude they need to have). Two, he was trying to give them some confidence going into game 4, knowing they can shut SA down (only 15 points in the 3rd) if they play some real D. Three, he wanted to force Pop to play his starters so that they won't be as fresh for game 4. Of course, that also meant that the Heat starters would have to stay in but that was a chance he had to take. The Heat will have the crowd, desperation and anger to feed off of for game 4, so fatigue will not mean as much.

Miami BIG tomorrow. Expect them to return the favor and win big around 15-20 points after they over adjust. 

This is what POP wants to see IMO. He wants to see how they adjust, and possibly even over adjust which will give him possibilities and future game starting line ups and rotations. I think they've been waiting all year for this spot. 

One game im contemplating on not touching will be game 6 in Miami if the Spurs are up 3-2 in the series. He will bring the house and go all in on that game with everything he knows Miami will do. 

I've been saying it all year they've been weaker this year. And the spurs are better this year with too much depth. Essentially this WHOLE series falls on the shoulders of Lebron. 

D wade, Bosh, the role players for Miami can all play out of thier minds and even the refs can help Miami out but that won't be enough to beat this hell bent vengeful Spurs team this year. Lebron needs to go off and that will be the only clear shot they have at beating them. 

I expect the Spurs to come strong next game and kinda ramp it down a little bit. They got the split now they sit back a little bit and review teh game tape after Miami throws their best shot at them. Both coaches understood before the series that this will easily go 6 games and most likely end up in the 7th game..... Pop will conserve throughout and the game and play possum throughout portions of it on purpose tomorrow. IMO (of course).
