i think reggie miller and allen iverson should be mentioned
really, really tough one here..all those guys you mentioned-barkley,malone,paul and harden are individual legends in the game that are hard to seperate and are deserving of being on a championship team due to their abilities and contributions.so like alot of these discussions it comes down to personal preference and so for me i would eliminate harden based on the fact that he shrivels way too often in the playoffs and he is awfully hard to build a team around as he plays in such a dominant, selfish manner and i eliminate malone just cos i dont like him,haha..wasnt exactly the most watchable player although clearly incredibly effective no doubt.and then im putting chris paul slightly ahead of barkley due simply to the fact that he has had a HUGE overall impact on every team he has joined/played with in terms of winning and elevating those around him, which barkley cant say for all those years in philadelphia and at other stops in his career.of course it is easier for paul, given the position he plays and the time he has with the ball in his hands to affect the game...but anyhoo,i think paul is top 6 all time in PER overall and in most statistical categories is at the very top in terms of all time point guards and i feel if he had ever been on the right team and cashed in on a couple of rings then he might be considered the best pg of all time, right next to magic...lets just say the best "normal human sized" point guard, haha.
full disclosure-i am a HUUUGE chris paul fan,hehe..he would be in my top 5 favourites i think.

I can never root for Karl Malone for anything. Dude got a 13 year old girl pregnant when he was 20 then refused to pay child support. He's the scum of the earth.

In a way it is not reasonable to compare Stockton and Paul. Stockton played at a time where good defense was allowed and Paul did not. What we know is Stockton was stronger and both were very great players

My mind is blown right now. Everyone has an asshole...I mean an opinion.

correction, chris paul is NOT 6th all time in PER,he is 9th.still pretty fuggin good in a category that most consider a very strong indicator of a players overall ability/impact on the game.and amazing for such a small player.everyone else on the top of the list is around 6 foot 6 or much taller/bigger.

and dont forget also supposedly hit on kobes wife when he joined the lakers.

This is very true. He might be singlehandedly responsible for all the carrying over in the game today. Refs gave him a pass and it was a huge advantage. Compare him to J Kidd from the same era. Kidd has the ball in a yo-yo.

All good points!

Mailman
AI
Chuck
In no particular order BUT Barkley was my favorite .. Mailman had Stockton , AI has only himself to blame ( modern better version of Harden ).. Chuck was a one man wrecking crew .. the man had over 20k points and 10k rebounds and to top it off he had over 4-5k assists .. 2.5 double

You definitely think of several players in the 90s era as easy ones:
Malone/Stockton
Ewing
Barkley
Allen Iverson
(I see people talking about Chris Paul, etc.) I would put Steve Nash above Chris Paul.

its the same genre of people who think LeBron is the goat. It’s just an age thing. Cp3 shouldn’t even be in this convo and yet he’s here multiple times

man,are you serious??now admittedly paul is a favourite of mine so yes i have a bias..but looking at the cold, hard facts in regards to statistical accomplishments/accolades/achievements and even the basic eye test in evaluating their skillsets how could anyone put lillard ahead of paul?..and i like lillard alot as well.but he is just on the cusp of "superstar" status while i think that paul is definitely firmly in that top tier.just look what he did for an awful looking (on paper) thunder team last season.almost NOBODY picked them to even sniff the playoffs and look what happened.and expect the same with the suns this season.he just affects a team so much and so positively.
but hey,i could be wrong...it is tough as i dont think damian has had the help and depth that chris has had at times.paul does bear some responsibility for a couple of flameouts with the clippers and he broke down at the exact wrong time also..but when on the court he is mostly elite and comes through when you need him.

apologies if you thought I agreed with Dame Over Paul. I don’t. I simply don’t think Paul needs to be mentioned as one of the greatest to not win a ring. He’s simply a choker. Even back in the Wake days

patrick ewing and chris mullin ewing was o so close multiple times idk whether to throw penny hardaway into conversation he wasent an all time great due to injuries that cut his career short but i watched him growing up and he was magic johnson like shame we never got to see full potential he had tracy mcgrady throw him in there as well

mcgrady actually got a ring with the spurs but didnt play so its kinda iffy...if not then he would DEFINITELY be near the top of the list..uber uber talented guy that was one of the smoothest scorers to ever play.

Dame = a clutch, SELF improving player
Cp3 = a team and player improving player...some say he is a choker, and they maybe right. Not everyone has the clutch gene.
Put those two together in one and you have MJ, Kobe, Lebron. Rare greatness
