But who did Petit have around him in comparison to who Wilkins had? Was he actually a better player? I wasn't around in his era so I'd have to look at some film to make a personal judgement. However the NBA was definitely tougher in Wilkins era and Wilkins was clearly overshadowed by guy like Jordan and Magic who have rings. But i have no doubt in my mind he would kill it in todays era. His fierceness at and around the rim is by far better than any player even in todays era. He did it with guys defending and all around him contesting him. I can't think of one player in todays era that looks as good as him slashing and dunking on guys. Maybe Vince Carter but he's gone now and even thats a toss up. I'm a bit old to remember if Wilkins had any elite superstars on his team but I don't recall.
never had a star with him no...played with the likes of tree rollins,doc rivers,spud webb,kevin willis,jon koncak..so no its no surprise that he never won a ring.had nowhere near enough help in the era of the celtics,pistons and then bulls..but holy crap could he put it in the basket.
