tonight's writeup: thoughts and game 6 approach

the Celtics have a chance to do what no other East team has done since... you guessed it the Celtics in 2009-10 have done to an Lebron-led team: end Lebron's postseason hopes.

for the first time since 2012, Lebron's team is trailing 3-2 in a conference playoff series when the Celtics took the Miami Heat to the brink of elimination.. only difference in that series was that Celtics did not have homecourt and they were trailing 0-2 before rattling off 3 straight wins only to lose the final 2 games.

we all know Lebron has been in many elimination games throughout his career. he has played in 20 such games and his overall record is 11-9 SU, 12-8 ATS in those games however at home with his back against the wall he is 8-3 SU, 7-4 ATS at home. He got eliminated at home to the Spurs, Warriors and Mavericks in the Finals. The Celtics have been Lebron's toughest opponent in the East throughout his career and have been eliminated by them twice. The other two teams to beat Lebron were the Pistons and Magic. Lebron is 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS when facing elimination against the Celtics. so for tonight history is on Lebron's side..

The Celtics have never beat Lebron on the road to clinch a playoff series. that has been the biggest knock on them throughout this postseason and the pundits will still say the Celtics aren't good enough team without their two stars. you know what...

I have to believe they are tired of hearing it over and over again(they are not good without kyrie, they can't win on the road etc etc) soon enough they will go out and silence the critics and what better time to do it than tonight. i feel the Celtics will be up to the big task and do the impossible. you don't mess around with a hungry dog and dangle meat in front of them only to yank it away.

this is a big moment for this young Celtic team and will be a coming of age moment for them if they can do it. call me crazy but i think they win tonight. third time maybe a charm?

of course, we won't know just how overwhelm they might be in a moment like this. if the moment gets too big for them and they fall behind early and can't match the Cavs intensity for at least 3 quarters of the game and show no fight in the 2nd half then we can safely say they will tank the rest of the way and gear up for game 7. in that case, might be better to play this game live but grabbing Celtics +7 is a start. Beating Lebron on the road will be tough but i live for the challenge

of course the celtics wont win often there but you have to bet it at the right moment which we never know
