a lot of games are fixed in the NBA, NCAA, and NFL any1 who thinks different is simply ignorant. This world is ruled by money its no suprise that these games r fixed. I'll bet anything that the Lakers will face the Cavs in the finals cuz thats what stern wants.The NBA conspiracy theory is real. If u bet on the games u can't complain that its fixed cuz u should know it is. U just got 2 b on the right side at the end.

games are fixed off course..but having fun with betting...fbi workers are also earning money with betting on nba or any other american sports..thats why they didnt want catch referee or player ...which they can easily can catch...just let me know how much money that fbi workers have money in other country banks..

It was 1 party.  Either an organized crime group, or a handful of non criminal gamblers.  Its that simple.  How in the world could any book be in on this?? It would be to difficult for a book to say, "oh, I have lots of action on the unders, we need to call in the overs."  This is something that has to be planned out ahead of time and not on the fly.  I highly doubt the books are able to plan ahead on public perception on a line.

What's the big deal?  The big deal is that a team that shot 36% still wound up with 104 points.  Do the Jazz average well under 40% shooting on the road while still scoring more than 100 points?  Doubt it.  The big deal is that 30% of the points in an NBA game were scored at the free throw line.  The big deal is that this travesty raised the suspicions of a LOT of people. Wake up!

The mob paid off the guy who ran the clock. After every inbounds play he would "forget" to start it for maybe a second or two. Have no idea how many inbound plays there are in a pro basketball game, but it would definitely add up to some serious time.
 
Books noticed that for Pistons' home games, the games were going over the total on a regular basis. They started shading the lines upwards. They still went over. There were some big bets coming in on the over and eventually some outfits/locals even stopped taking bets on the total.
 
Somebody figured out the play, and everything went back to normal. Nice little scam, and only a select few knew what was going on in the beginning.

Hey Bator...I'm really liking the Denver 1st Half Over 110. That baby jumped up like crazy. I really think we're in for a 115-120 ponit 1st half and a Denver thromping in the 2nd half to land right around the game total of 215.

I am sure no one has looked at the link I posted in MrB's other thread about the Eric Lewis clap, but that's old news now.  I did a TINY bit of research into Eric Lewis and how he calls games with the likes of Steve Javie and/or Dick Bavetta, and all of those games had very few fouls called. 
 
Sure, that could be coincidence.  But whenever Eric Lewis works with a top veteran official it appears as though he calls a better (more loose? more flowing?) game. 
 
That could be a number of things either for or against his case.  But, you can be somewhat certain Steve and Dick would never get involved in such a thing.

I didn't read all the posts, but wouldn't you think the NBA would do a lot more to investigate this kind of stuff. You would think they would. I mean the NBA is obviously big business and they have a lot of incentive to prevent this stuff. I mean, they don't benefit at all from this (unless you're talking about sides and big market teams and playoffs, but not totals on midseason games) but it absolutely kills their reputation. So, why wouldn't they devote more resources to this or maybe they do, I don't know. Just saying, you'd think they would spend a lot of money preventing this. And if so, how come they can't prevent it. Or is what you're saying, they don't want to report it if they discover it, because then they'll look even worse, that it did happen. Maybe they have to pay the refs more money, so that they're not influenced as easily.

......betting on a sport in which NON-PLAYERS (refs) have SO MUCH CONTROL of the game is no better than flipping a coin.

No, absolutely the opposite. If they were seen to be accepting that the possibility of multiple Donaghy's being a widespread phenomenon by holding such regular investigations (because this shit happens regularly in this joke of a league0 then people would start to assume it's no better than the WWF, and all the lustre that the NBA likes to believe is invested in former team and player achievements would be undermined.
 
The NBA wants nothing to do with investigating the likes of this, or being seen to, which is why the Donaghy affair was swept under the carpet asap and why the uproar that should've resulted from his being exposed never erupted.

I had the under in that Jazz game as well. I have been saying the NBA is fixed since Jordan started winning championships. The NBA is ENTERTAINMENT, they even advertise as that. Its almost like the WWE.

The same suspicious trio of Eric Lewis, Tom Washington, and Phil Robinson is back in action today in Oklahoma City to, uh.........."work" the Pacers/Thunder game.  Let's see if they're on a special assignment again or if they instead chill with the whistles until the furor dies down.
