on sports my max bet is $1000 per bet. I have won $2000 on a game. taking over first half and over game. i generally bet $300-$500 per bet.
on blackjack i start at $50 and press to get on a roll. I try to build up the table limit. So I have no problem placing several hundred dollars on a blackjack table.
Sorry, I didn't see that. Well, you say you "broke even" but betting $300 - $500 per bet ... sounds to me you might have lost more than you think but those losses didn't cause you bigger financial troubles.
I can't believe anyone who has been betting for 15 years would be breaking even .. I started betting 15 years ago, I might fool myself saying I'm breaking even now ... but I've lost more than I've won, that's for sure, even though I'm not broke, I have assets and thank god I'm doing okay financially.

Yessir. That is why I have taken half of the winnings and put them in actual assets like bonds and mutual funds. I keep the other half as a free bank roll. I will continue to move that money if I am lucky enough to keep winning.
I could easily change my unit of play as 5% of 2500 is 125 but….nope. I am a 50 dollar player and that is that. Keeps me sleeping at night. I have had some bad days and weeks recently too but I have been pretty hot the last couple of weeks.
I was down about 1600 last year tho, so yeah….there are ups and downs. Mostly a lot of that money was lost in Baseball tho…and that is why I am staying away from that sport.
GL
Yes, you totally make sense. Good luck with this venture!

I'm just against something that causes me to waste time, money, be secretive about it, and so forth.
Gambling by itself is not a good pastime, at least not for me. Some people might "like" it but I'm not sure how much their bank account balance would like it?!

But how?! How discipline can help me determine whether Miami-Brooklyn would score MORE or LESS than 191.5 points tonight?
dude, discipline comes in the form of how you bet....do you bet a million dollars when you are in the hole? it seems like it MAY be a "problem" for you. Discipline has nothing to doe with the over/under. it has to do with paying all your bills first then having the discipline to risk what you can afford to lose. Discipline means not chasing bets. Discipline means not betting on every single game. Discipline is something I wish I had more of

i have been down $2-3K on a football season and won it all back with a BIG bet on the Super Bowl. In 2013 I won $5K on the game. I have had that happen more than once. I may be down a little bit over the past dozen years plus, but it's generally a wash. I've never won a lot and I have never lost a lot. There are some times where I feel I should quit or take a break, but I never have had to had a garage sale.....yet.

I have paid my bills and I don't owe anything to anyone thank god ... however I still don't understand how can I make money with discipline? I only lose money when I gamble, 10% at least every time I place a bet ...
Gambling is risky, no discipline in the world can help you make money when you gamble ... that's why you have it but you think you don't because you are betting against a system that is much stronger than you.

Relatively new this shiit. Have loved 2 things since I was a toddler. One is sports, the other is gambling. Finally combined the two 8 years ago fresh out of high school, betting $50-250/game, making $600/week from at my job. Terrible horrible money management. Stayed about even though. Inevitably got down almost 2 grand that I really didn't have. Then I saw the easiest bet I've ever laid eyes on. Red hot Sac Kings at home +2 vs ice cold Spurs late reg season. Put $2000 on Sacramento. The Kings blow them out, I'm back to even, and I didn't place another bet for 5 years. I was smart enough to realize how lucky I was and I went back to casually enjoying sports w/o betting. 2 years ago I started following lines and "mock" capping games. Placed no bets though. It was a simulation but I took it very seriously because I knew I wanted to get back into it. Still kept no records though. This NCAA Bball season was my reintroduction to the monster. I waxed my local book to the tune of 3400 betting 85-300 a game. He was not a nice guy and obviously was not happy with me so I moved on to another book on opening day MLB. Have taken this guy for 2400 since then mostly NBA, some baseball. I am really really really thinking about calling it quits. I know I'm not a prodigy, just been good/smart/lucky for a few months. My gut is saying it's time. But how can I stop?? I'm on fire!!

It's easier to stop once you lose a big amount. But it doesn't happen just like that....
I once placed $25,000 on Obama to win the elections. I won $10,000 - was so high in the sky.
I lost it all man. You can't win in gambling. You lose in the long run.
It's like that. It's always like that.

i wanna make a correction, i doubt the casino has control of the event it self, or the athletes or coaches. when i said the casino has control of the players, i meant the people gambling. and Cantor gaming has some really weird vibes too, and that is the company that is buying out all the sport books in vegas. they have a computer at the M Resort way south of the strip, i forget what they call it, but that thing generates all the live betting lines. Thats the other thing, this new concept of live betting is really changing the books. What Las Vegas wants gamers to know is that they only want your juice. However theres just some deep deep things going on there. think about it, area 51 is about 100 miles away from the strip. all the lines around the world are produced in las vegas. but all the great poker players, they dont live in las vegas. when phil ivy bets, he goes into the casino for less then 10 minutes then he bounces. think about it like an hour glass. your mojo that is. the longer you stay in a casino, the more it will put you under her spell. the bottom line is, if you gamble you are cursed. once you stop gambling, the curse is lifted. some people can handle it, others cant. I hear people making money and people losing money. Everyone is different. The potential is obviously there. You have to be the dumbest person in the world to win i think. I remember what got me started with betting. I was 15 years old, i would go into a card shop to buy cards. during football season the owner would have a football pool. I would get my dad to sign us up, and i would make the picks. I remember I would play video games like madden and tecmo bowl, so i thought i knew the players. well, i felt like a prodigy one season i think it was my junior year in highschool i had a 64% picking all the teams in the nfl. I remember they gave me the total season winnings with the last week to go. That's what kept my hope going towards finding a way to elevate my game. Since then, i have gambled with the purpose to learn how to gain information that would help me some time in the future. I cant say im a winner, but when i was young, i remember not thinking about the games, just going to school, finding chicks to hook up with n stuff. then when friday would come along i would make the picks, and had a few amazing seasons. But everyone is diferent, some people are made for it, others have to work hard to stay in the game. But it's really peoples choice with what they want to do with their money. Besides, Isac Newton predicted the would would come to an end in 2060. I have the out most respect for sir Isac Newton. The worlds greatest mind.

How would you regard gambling now in your life? Would you ever treat gambling as a "job" or as a way to lose money?

yup discipline and money management is the key, wich are probably qualities most gamblers lack and fail at.
Words to live by, very true. Honestly, I haven't lost at sports gambling for the past 2 years. MLB , NBA are the easy one. I have numerous account close on me. I have to reach out to different states and offshore to take my bets. 4 accounts close on me in one week couple of years ago.
The KEY to winnings is like the man said above. 2ndly, you MUST have ur OWN a system. Trust me, it's out there. Or you can piggy back on my picks when I have time to post.

Let me ask you this straightforward: Would you consider your betting as a full time job?

No, I run several businesses. I still have time to post and play 2ndH ( BTW, this is where the real money is.). If you are the type who "RESEARCH", Stats, Trends and Matchups, you're doing it wrong.
The only websites I use everyday is Sportline.com for updated scores (get the 1stHalf stats plug-in some numbers and Covers.com to contribute. I think I have said too much...hahaha

Only a fool would try Sports Betting a full time job. If you are too good, your account will be closed. If you live in Vegas you will be red flagged, they wouldnt take ur bet. Cuz ur too good. Bookie are in the business of making money. The moment they smell a shark they are gone.
