^ lol this just proves this is a sham. he was gonna carry on and act like he relapsed until the negative reaction
The guy posted a photo with his laptop in the hotel room, and based on his posts and based on myself going through a similar thing (proven as well!!) - this is not a sham, but he was a bit of a PITA* trying to "fool" us all but at least he did the right thing.
*PITA is an abbreviation for those of you who don't know what it means. So:
PITA = Pain in the (not sure what the 'A' is standing for.... )

Yeah, I was being a bit of a jackass by making people wonder if I relapsed, but I kept my promise and I'm staying clean. I'll post in this thread for every month that I stay away from gambling and if I ever feel like relapsing, I may come here for support. As of right now, I have zero desire to gamble. Not one iota.

He posted a photo of what exactly? A tv and a laptop. Sure he could of been at the hotel but I doubt he actually placed the amount of money he says he has.
I think this is all a cry for attention as demonstrated by his last 3 posts. Like I said previously there is no way on earth he was posting on the forum during the game while $40,000 was on the line and potentially the roof over his head.

"Thomas E. Ketchum, known as Black Jack, was a cowboy who later turned to a life of crime. He was hanged in 1901 for attempted train robbery"

It wasn't $40,000. It was under $26k. And I personally don't care whether you believe me, but just so I don't have to hear any more nonsense from you, here are my wager tickets from the Aria.

Just wanted to let everyone know that next month is my one year anniversary of this whole crazy bet I placed, and I still haven't made a single bet since. Not sure how it would've been had I lost...but winning and being able to save everything was a miracle for me. Only downside is I don't watch sports nearly as much anymore. Hope that anyone who wants to quit but is having trouble quitting , finds the help they need. Kinda glad that the pics of my tickets expired...seeing them again would've made me feel like a bigger fool than I already was.

Thank you. Marriage is strong. At first she wondered why I went from watching sports every night for years to none, but we've gotten to spend a lot more time together. I wish there was a way for me to be able to gamble recreationally and in control, but there isn't. Took me forever to truly understand that.

Wow! A year later and I just read the entire thread for the first time. Glad to hear you have managed to stay away from it. I only gamble small amounts but find them growing at consistent rate. I hope I don't end up in the same situation, but am not in denial that I have an addiction to the action! As for recovery, I'm guessing it's like alcoholism in that the only control is to never drink. Good luck. Glad to hear your success story!

Well done! Great story! Glad to see you were able to stay away... probably the best thing to have happened in a long time.

For sure! In fact, I'd say quitting gambling was the biggest win I've ever had. The rush is gone, but so are the countless nervous nights...trying to figure out how I'm going to cover my tracks and get the money I need.
