Everyone thought that miami-cavs is the best ratings buster, well , how is miami going to bring more fans than an entire country. Now all of canada will be watching this upcoming series , most likely fans and non-fans alike. I lived in toronto for 4 years . They bleed the leafs even when they are the worst team in the league. You couldnt walk anywhere downtown or to any restaurant without hearing some one talking about or seeing a tv with the leafs on. Even when there was absolutely zero positive things to say about the leafs, a convo would still be started about how bad they are. You couldnt escape it. As a non-hockey fan it was insane to me. Now that there is no hockey to root for , literally the entire city and country will be rooting for the raps to win which equates to well over hundreds of thousand of fans tuning in. This is a moment where non-nba fans will start to watch the nba. These are once in a lifetime moments as a business to capture a new audiance and make a mark. There is literally no price tag you can put on an opportunity such as this.

Sure, there are bad calls, missed calls, hometown calls, star calls, etc. And there was a crooked ref Donaghy a while back. but there's no big conspiracy. If there was, they would do it on less watched games and by paying off lesser-paid players. Not in the playoffs where the players that would need to be in on it are millionaires and don't really need the money. And the refs who miss too many calls are named and shamed straight away now and will probably face punishment like working less playoff games, etc. In general the games are very well reffed. This year in the playoffs there have been some notable eff ups by the offficials but it's really the exception rather than the rule.
People just can't stand losing and can't get their head around why a team that looks great one night plays bad the next night, but that's just the way the NBA is. Look at SA, they would have made headlines all year for how good they were if not for being outshined by the Dubs, but in that game 6 they just could not buy a bucket, whereas OKC had contested jumpers from role players hitting nothing but net. More reasonable assumption is that the Raptors fell into the heart of a statistically significant trend (home steams game 7 are 99-24.) If the inverse were true and the away team won it would more support the idea of rigging/fixing, statistically speaking
