Anyway.....everyone knows that Chuck Nevitt was the best.

I remember the home crowds would chant for him to be put in the game.  He acutally works as an IT person now.

He was ok, but I never saw anything stone cold killing. He hit his prime when he was with Dallas the first year. But was never more than a 14.6 PPG player.

He was an ok shot blocker, but still not in the top 10.

If Shaq played another year he could catch Pat Ewing in total blocks.

No doubt.  It was a shame he got sucked into the ABA and lost at least a few more NBA years.  He still averaged 13.2 pts his last year with the Lakers. Even bigger shame is he went to the ABA and didn't even play a single minute.

i was just looking at his stats, fucken sickening!!!   20 seasons he played (usually a guys stats would really be deplenished if he plays a lot of seasons past his prime but Kareem still managed to avg 24.6 points in his career!!!   yes i know it was a different era but still, he dominated his era bigtime.. 

he even avg 22 pts in his 16th and 23.4 points in his 17th season!!! that alone is amazing, in a time where jordan was playing too..

yes, but that does not answer the question. In their respective prime's, Shaq would have dominated the shit out of Kareem, Bill Russel, ANYBODY. I totally agree his prime was short and he could have had several more rings, but if their teams were to have played a theoretical game that could have occurred. in their respective best prime year, Shaq would have eaten up Kareem. End of story

All you have to do to stop Shaq is put him on the free throw line.

I wrote my thesis about the 2001 NBA finals, therefore i have insight how can a center dominate the game in this century. Shaq vs Mutombo, Jackson vs Brown. I say Shaq all day. When he was young, he was a beast, simply unsoppable. If he would have free throw......
Unfortunately i did not see Kareem playing, but i know his statistic.I can say both player was the best in center position at their age. Hardly comparable, bc of the rules change a lot, and they played in diffrent time where the players was not as physical as they are in these days.

Russell all day long. As for Shaq or Kareem. Shaq is an entertaining. Everybody loves Shaq. Kareem was a severe ASSHOLE. Only in the last year of his playing time did he try to become more fan/media friendly. Prime example, look how he behaved on ESPN about not being appreciated. Don't want to leave Wilt out of the conversation either. As for the topic at hand, Kareem and the hook were impossible to defend, but with Shaq's size, in a league with few centers that could guard him made him seem like the Superman tat on his shoulder. Head to head, with both in there prime Shaq would have punished Kareem, hands down.
