The high school game should be 48 minutes. The pro game should be 32. That's my preface. The NBA has always been known as a second half game. I recall that 82-83 Great sixers team. They swept the Lakers-- won in the Forum. They were down at half most of the games. They just knew keep it reasonably close: we've got the better squad and we'll turn it up in the second half. Great teams can turn it on! That’s for sure. They play to the level of their opponents until it’s time to go for the kill. You mention the 80’s Sixers and ditto for the Warriors the past 5 years (before this one of course). They were perhaps the greatest 3rd quarter team we’ve ever seen. But these Nuggets and Heat are not those team!! They are able to pull it off only because their opponents are lackadaisical.
Points well taken.
