Real-time comments from a friend watching the game tonight:
“Freaking Jimmy buckets tried to give the game away like three different times. These dudes are all so over bubble ball, they can hardly keep their heads up… Like you said, not what they signed up for. The dudes with the least going on in their actual lives are the ones who are going to stick around and collect rings, like LeBron”
The same thing happened in the Clippers series. That’s why Hero looks like the second coming of Curry. Next year, when someone actually decides to d him up, he will go back to being a scrub.

We are talking about sustained playoff level basketball for 48 minutes for 6-7 games (if you don’t know what that is go back and watch how teams played just last year). These guys are constantly falling asleep at the wheel (even the Nuggets last night almost coughed up a 20 point 4th quarter lead in a must win game!!!). They can’t maintain the effort and focus because their heart is not in it, not fully. They care at at times. Then at other times they sleepwalk through the game. A part of them is obviously not committed and wants the hell out of bubble prison. Clippers, Celtics, Jazz, Lakers, Rockets. They’ve all done it (ie., sleepwalk through quarters, halves and entire games!). Wake the hell up, people. What games are you watching.

I think you need to wake up, you are talking like these games are real when they arent... You are watching a movie every time you watch a game, no matter what sport it is...

NBA games go back and forth with teams up big, down big, up again everyone knows its not until the last few minutes of the 4th q when its usually decided you are just trying to force what is normal NBA play into your fantasy scenario

You have the worst takes ever. Was this all just to make another excuse for the Clippers or are you now making an excuse for Boston. Lebron sticking around cuz he has nothing else going? The oldest guy in the bubble, married with three kids who has the most outside business interest. You have been so far off the deep end.
Oh yeah, Tyler Hero is the truth. You're just now hearing of him because you're not a fan of sports. You're a fan of soap operas.

If you can’t see the lack of cohesion and focus by certain players and teams on certain nights I don’t know what to tell you. Yesterday the TNT crew called out the Lakers (except for Rondo) for showing up with no energy. AD gets 2 rebounds in a WCF playoff game!! The Rockets stopped trying in the Laker series after going down 1-2. The number of teams that have lost big leads and consequently the game is by far the most I have ever seen in the NBA playoffs. The number of sideline arguments and after the game arguments by players and teams is more than I ever recall during the playoffs. These guys are not happy campers (NBA players are not used to being controlled and monitored like this), and who would be in their situation, and their uneven, lackadaisical play is indicative of it. Months from now the truth about all the issues caused by life in the bubble, and how those issues impacted the attitude/mood of the players and ultimately the games themselves, will come out. For you people to deny the obvious is just absurd. No wonder a guy like Trump is able to pull the wool over people’s eyes. Critical thinking has left the building!

I think it's the climate of society currently more than anything else. There's so much going on this yr. Covid, lockdowns, masks, social distancing, police brutality, murders, playing in a bubble situation w/ no crowd. It really just changed everything up. It's not normal. IT's a f*ckin twilight zone right now.

Saying that Boston players dont care about Eastern conference finals is completely delusional, for these guys winning ECF and fighting for the rings in nba finals is literally main goal of their lifes, thats what they work for every day thats what they dedicated their lives for, their careers will be judged by how many times they got into finals and won, they do care and thats why they choke because they arent ready for it yet, maybe they will be one day maybe they wont, but saying that they want to go home is bullshit, if anything players like LeBron dont care that much he is already one of the goats he has bunch of rings he is old and if he lost nothing would change for his career.
P.S. “He will go back to being a scrub” Herro was never a scrub, its his first year in nba and he is extremely overachieving.

BB you are kinda wrong here. Herro has been great all year. He averaged 14, 4 and 2 off the BENCH during his rookie year. Kid is as confident as it gets and has made huge shots all season long. Last night was special but it certainly was not something new to Heat fans, if Herro started this year, he easily reaches at least 18 PPG and possibly gets a ton of votes for Rookie of the Year.
Now you are right on the part that not everyone is as interested as usual in this bubble. But it was not last night. Last night was two teams who battle super hard and both looked like they really wanted it.

Ah, somebody who understands what I’m saying and developed the argument even further with cogent observations and facts about why some teams and players seem checked out at times. Twilight Zone indeed. Now imagine trying to play for a title in the Twilight Zone!
