Let's take a moment and recap the Game 1's before getting into today's plays. I tried warning people of the Rockets, not sure if anyone listened. Harden is a baller, but him and Lin might be two of the worst defenders in the league. Houston went on two crazy runs in this game consisting of 20-6 and 15-3 in the second and third quarters. Think about that for a second, that's a combined 35-9 run !
But when the game slowed down like all playoff games do, they couldn't execute in a half court setting. Kevin McHale made ZERO adjustments throughout this game. I think I saw Lilliard carve them up doing the exact same drive to the hoop play on 7 different occasions. Howard missed his free throws like always, and the Rockets end up losing.
The Wizards showed up huge like I thought they would, the real catalyst though was Andre Miller coming off the bench. This guy has so much playoff experience, and having a guy like that coming off the bench is HUGE in the playoffs. The Bulls actually had a decent offensive showing for most this game, but had a few scoring droughts like always and end up losing by 9 on there own court in the opening game of the playoffs. There was so much Bulls and Rockets love in this forum prior to yesterday, I wonder how many people are going to chase there series bets now that there plus money at +137 and +125.
Miami impressed me more than I thought they would, but the Al Jefferson injury was huge and cost me a couple units in the process.
I was really impressed with how Dallas came out, they are so well coached they have a chance against anyone in the playoffs, but I feel there opportunity was there for the taking in game 1 and they blew it. You don't get many chances to be up by double digits in the fourth quarter on the road against San Antonio, they might have just lost the series due to that 4Q meltdown. I still wouldn't count them out though.
The Warriors proved they have some ballers on there team, and can compete with the best teams in the league. It's funny how even after the Game 1 win, no-one is giving them a chance to eliminate the Clippers. People are still capping like it's the regular season in here, it takes something completely different to win in the playoffs, just ask Kevin McHale.
Memphis Grizzlies @ Oklahoma City Thunder
I have the utmost confidence that Memphis will play it's best game of the series tonight, better than they will play in Memphis over the next two games. I have the Thunder to win it all, but I was really upset when they were up 25 at halftime in game 1. I wanted them to win and cover of course, but they just completely embarrassed a Wiley and veteran Memphis Grizzlies team in the first game of the playoffs after they reached the conference finals a season prior. This will be a very tough game for the Thunder. I'm hoping they squeak by with a win late but i'll say it again, this will be Memphis' best game of the series. I was going to make Memphis a 4-5 unit play today but the Clippers won't lose both games at home. The Warriors got what they needed, a 1-1 split in LA. You won't see the same intensity from the Warriors until game 3. I'll take the extra value and tease the two.
