Kobe talked after Game 2 about how the Lakers would "kick it up a notch" when they reach Orlando, but it's just that, talk. He's thinking wishfully, wishing that his team could bring the kind of intensity they brought to more urgent games like Game 3 in Houston and Game 3 in Denver. But a tiger doesn't change its stripes, and a team that consistently evaluates each game on the Importance Meter and then plays accordingly isn't suddenly going to bring their jailhouse defense to a Game 3 when they're up by two games.
Mr. B, much respect to your insight and opinions. However, as a long time Celtic fan/Kobe Laker hater, tonight I have to give in to the fact that the Lakers are the best team with the best player(s) this year, and they WANT to show you, myself and the rest of the world that fact tonight in Mickey Mouse land. Game 3 of the finals is way different than the conf finals, and especialy the second round. If the Lakers are as "lazy" and only play when they have to as everybody is saying, the effort should be there tonight, as they know each game they win is one less they have to play. So, I truly believe Phil will have Kobes mates on the same page with him and smell championship blood tonight, and unfortunately get the W to go up 3-0. Unfortunately, except for there is money to be made.

You mean it shouldn't be there. If the Lakers are as lazy as everybody says, and only play when they have to, then the effort shouldn't be there. But you're saying the effort should be there if the Lakers are lazy. Huh?

Please. For all their talent and achievement, these guys have demonstrated a shockingly lackadaisical approach to certain games. This Game 3 is not an urgent game for them no matter what they say and they know it and we know it. Maybe they won't mail it in tonight like they mailed in Games 4 and 6 in Houston, but it's a bet worth making nonetheless. Besides, I'm not counting on a poor Laker effort anyway. I'm counting on the Magic to rock the house in Orlando as they almost always do, and when they need it most..

Boom, and this is what people seem to be missing. Any effect that the Lakers' lackadaisical effort may have on the game is just gravy on top of what the stats already tell us -- that being that the Magic play like gangbusters in this situation as they have all season.

B- read the rest of the quote, more they win, less games they have to play!

Okay, so you're saying that IF it's true that the Lakers are lazy, then they'll want to wrap this series up as quickly as possible so they don't have to play extra games (because they're lazy).
I'm not buying that, sorry. If that were true, they wouldn't have allowed a crippled Rockets team to take them to a Game 7.

Mr Bator...Do you think Magic -2.5 for the first half is a good bet?
U think Orlando will come out strong right out the box and build up a big half time lead and just let the Lakers hang around in the second half but still manage the game and cover the -4 ?
