Scal, I would just like you to know that you are by lightyears the best NBA capper here........The way you break down these games and construct a case adding up to which side you play is awesome......but i also know you are extremely familiar with your local squads
I like the 2 and 7 theory AND all the points you have highlighted repeatedly in this series.....JJ being key, Deron never playing 2 good games in a row, and the importance of REST for these older players... All excellent points..here in the West it doesn't seem officiating is quite the variable as in East......i was hoping that you might finally support a Road team....cuz, if Nets win, our Mavs might complete the Daily Road Double
Either way, keep up the great work in the NBA playoffs,,I (we) really enjoy your analysis that helps us visit the "proverbial bank"

Wow. I don't know how I haven't noticed this tip now, but bovada does not allow you to buy Pts on bets. Should I wait a lil while for some line movement scal, do u think it will move in our favor, if it all?

What's your motivation for making this play? You've stated how hard a game it is to cap; typically you choose better opportunities. Did you just fancy some more play off action? BOL

I love your insight and your picks. I am leaning Nets though. I just think Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson will be to much. Good Luck. Any thoughts on the Dallas +6.5 and over 197?

Are you serious???? Blatche say's so? OMFG!!!! Get real man. I am def with you on this one Scal, Raps will lead late.....hope they have enough to hold on!
I agree. The lead will be about who holds it late. There will be big shots by big names. I just don't see it being enough for the Nets to hold on.

I'm willing to admit that I'm a below average nba capper, that's also probably why I like Brooklyn. I'm changing my pick to toronto simply because of Scals write up..id rather trust Scale then myself, bol

If you know the league wants Nets vs Heat, why does Raps get +1 on the officiating???
It seems counterintuitive on its face, I know, but after a little digging, it's not.
You have to include the Nets Heat prospective matchup on my list of points and how the league favors it. That is undeniable. Anyone can just watch Hawks/Pacers Game 7 from yesterday (or dozens of other Game 7's or playoff games in general and see how the refs subtly steer these games in the direction of their preferred team with the right foul calls at the right time). That is the macroperspective of the foul calls and there is always an undercurrent the refs will favor the Nets.
But outside of some very extreme examples where the refs refused to let a team win, in 2014, the NBA favors disclosure and is amazingly, apologizing for some bad calls.
The microperspective of this series is that the number of foul calls have gone 3-3 in favor of each team in 6 games. I say Brooklyn holds a slight edge in the overall "whistle favorability factor" (WFF for short), because of the timing of some of those calls in big games.
But now in Toronto, it's going to be very hard in front of a raucous crowd that will treat this game like a professional wrestling match, to get away with a continual unkind whistle towards the Raptors. This crowd will go absolutely bonkers.
So I see the whistle on Sunday being slightly even, going BKN's way in some big spots, but overall, favoring the Raps who are really among the league's elite at hitting their FT's. Even if it is even or slightly in BK's favor, the Raps are so good at hitting FT's that they will convert all opportunities to points which swings the whistle in their favor, slightly (that is, a whistle is only good when you convert FT's for the most part. Just ask the Rockets with Howard and the Clippers with DeAndre), as long as their key players stay on the floor.

Wow to be real I'm shocked you are on Tor!! Might push my lean on BK out the window
I do not see BKN getting it done here. They've painted themselves in too tough a spot. The winning game should have been game 6 for them but they lost the crucial game 5.

Wow. If you think that Raps will advance, it maybe the Heat again representing the East.
The Nets would not beat the Heat imo.
You will see a different Heat team throughout the playoffs and already have.
In the most exciting and closest first round ever, with a record number of game 7's and dogs winning outright, the Heat calmly dispatched of an emerging Bobcat team in a ho-hum sweep, making their match-up look like one from the 80's where the lower seeds never have a chance going in.

If the Mavs win that series, I'd be more shocked then when the Baron Davis-lead Warriors beat that great Mavs team in a 1-8 match-up (the biggest shocker I ever saw in the first round, especially given they did it in SIX games!)

I really didn't cap that game. I haven't liked what I've seen out of the Spurs this series and I don't think anyone has and no one expected 7 games.

I am dealing with the same issue. It actually might get to 2.5 before tip, so I'd keep an eye on it, and then Bovada allows you to buy the hook as it is at BK -3 -120 right now.

Game 7's don't come around with local teams (never with the Knicks and last year was a complete debacle with the Nets that almost no one saw coming).
This will be a historic loss if the Nets go down here, and I have it capped as them doing it so I decided to write it up.
But yes, this is not on the level of many, many of my other picks as I'd put it at a weak 3 star rating.
It is a very tough game to call here. I came up with what I did and just saw the scales tipping in favor of the Raps. But as you can see, I see it as being so close that I recommended buying a full point (something I've never done).

PP will hit some big shots in this one. There is no doubt about that. But if you've watched him play in this series, you'll come away far less impressed than you think.
And JJ? Well if they double team him, and I expect them too, and make the rest of the Nets beat them, he'll have 15 at most and that won't be enough. If he gets it going early, that will be a bad sign for Raps backers.

BKN on its face seems like the pick but when you dig deeper, I have the Raps taking it.

Best of luck today Scal! Here's hoping my Raptors can pull it out!
I think Brooklyn attracts a lot of public money today because...
A) It's Brooklyn
B) The Nets had that great comeback in the 4th quarter of game 5 and fell just short.
C) Brooklyn seemed to carry that 4th quarter momentum into game 6 and the Raptors simply looked lost and confused out there.
I think bettors and even the Nets themselves are thinking that they have control, can easily flip a switch if they need too. I think and hope Toronto comes out hungry and prepared for this one.
We shall see!
Good Luck!

Good Luck today Scal! You've been on point with your analysis all year. Really appreciate the work you put in. My book had -1.5 for -130 juice, so I'll probably grab the extra insurance for the short increase in juice.

The start to the game will be huge for Raps, if they get down early I cant see them coming back. Pretty surprised you are on raps today, maybe it is just my negative attitude towards NBA but I think the Raps have to play a near perfect game to advance here. Refs will be a factor IMO.
