For those who know, I don't post a whole lot of plays on here and I only do when I really like a game. I rarely bet on multiple games, instead just pick out my strongest play and I've got a beauty for tonight.
Over the last couple of seasons, the Magic have been the best team in the NBA at beating the teams they supposed to and beating them good. While that hasn't been the case this season, I think we are on the verge of seeing that again, as evidence by their 40 point blowout win against Toronto, followed up with a 14 point win at Houston. Get this, the Magic are averaging 106.1 points per game over their eight game winning streak. On the season, the Magic are allowing only 91 pionts per game at home. Have a guess what the Pistons are averaging over their last three games? 77 points per game. You do the Math!!
In their most recent meeting, the Magic went into Detroit without Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson and came away with a 13 point win. They have beaten the Pistons on three straight occasions now by an average of 16 points. Did I mention the Pistons are 4-19 on the road this season and they just lost at NJ by 15?

What does this all mean? and do you follow it the next time?
Anything is possible really, I mean the Pistons could win straight up for all I know. But when you consider how well the Magic are playing and scoring at home, compared to how much the Pistons stink on the road and their recent scoring slump.
Monroe and Wilcox against Dwight? The scary thing is that in the last two meetings between the two this season (Magic won by 11 and 13) Dwight had 9 and 14 in the first meeting and did'nt even play in the second.
I think this game goes one of two ways. Either the Pistons pull one out of their ass and nearly win, like they did against Boston. Or the Magic pull away by 20 in the middle of the third and the game is over. I know which one is more likely to happen.

That's the one part that worries me. They won by 13 points w/o Howard and Nelson. In fact they did it with a starting lineup of: Rashard Lewis, Quentin Richardson, Marcin Gortat, Vince Carter, Chris Duhon.
Today Orlando rolls in with a starting lineup of: Hedo Turkoglu, Brandon Bass, Dwight Howard, Jason Richardson, Jameer Nelson.
Conveniently their a only favored by 1 point more than they won by that last time in Detroit. Albeit the line in that game was Orlando -4.
These sneakly oddsamakers have a way of making us "feel" to good about a bet.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Orlando win by less than 8. I really wouldn't.
GL on your play, I don't have a wager on either side (yet).
I hope Dwight roughs them up. I have him in my fantasy league.

Very quickly, there's at least two things I don't like about this Orlando -12 pick. I don't recommend betting on any favorite (but particularly a BIG favorite) who's already played an opponent twice earlier in the season and beaten them by double digits both times. I also don't recommend laying double-digits with any team that's coming off back-to-back double-digit wins. Most teams need some kind of special motivation to bear down and blow a team out, but what kind of motivation does the Magic have tonight? This looks and feels like a going through the motions effort is coming from the Magic, and on a personal note (I had the Magic -9 last week against Philly), you DON'T want to depend on Dwight Howard to hit some free throws for you to cover a big number (that big goof missed TWELVE free throws that night).
The Pistons are a crappy 16-28, and as Basden pointed out, they've only won four times on the road, and because of this, good teams don't take them seriously and rarely get up to play them (unless they have issues of their own, such as the Lakers three weeks ago, who's fan base was ready to revolt if they went through the motions one more time against a bad team).
I'm on Detroit +12.5 -110. And for those who are going to construe this post as meany old MrBator "going into someone's thread and trashing his pick", seriously - you can go suck it. This is a sports betting discussion board, not a circle jerk.

Crap.
I meant conveniently they're favored by one point less than they won by.
Making anyone think, how could this superiour starting lineup not get the job done tonight.
