Well, MJ wins the championship.  Not to the championship.

Jordan got bored and played baseball.  NBA wasn't enough of a challenge.  That's how good he was.

In 98 the bulls beat the jazz.....the jazz roster was pathetic besides Stockton and Malone and they were 62-20. Everybody else k the team was crap. Malone could still be effective today.....but think about Stockton guarding curry westbrook rose wall...etc.........it would get embarrassing fast. The nba was so bad when mj was dominating. It's just science the players are just better now. Better shooters better athletes. Better speed. Better size with the combo athleticism. I just don't understand how people can't see that. It's science.
say mj dominated HIS ERA better than lebron has......but please don't compare players back then to now. It would not even be competitive. There is obviously maybe a few guys on each team back then that could still compete but across the board it would be embarrassing. Just like it would if we did the same in football. D ends run d back from 80-90's forty times now....linebackers now run corner back times. Think of players like calvin and ap playing back then. It's just science

This is so wrong it's not even funny.  They have been changing the rules of the NBA since around 2000 because the competition has been so poor.  The era of one and dones has ruined the talent pool of the NBA.  They eliminated hand checking, made foul calls far less physical, changed any type of physical foul to flagrant all because scoring and efficiency was way down.  Stockton could hold his own against Westbrook and Rose who are career 43% shooters.  Just because certain guys are better athletes now does not make them better basketball players.

Plus the East had very tough teams back then, the east has been a laughingstock the past couple years. So bad that the league is looking into changing the playoff seeding.

yeah no doubt the nba has gotten better.  the players are bigger, stronger, faster, just better.  got your science.  a lot of the players flat out wouldn't cut it these days.

But answer me this, because this is the bottom line....you got 2 players to pick, in their prime.

Jordan, or LeBron.

There's your answer.

Yep  

mid 90's Jazz ran the pick & roll to perfection, and played good team defense.    They'd beat either of these two teams without question.

the other guy was rite,the game evolves at an alarming rate...as a microcosm of how athletes improve just look at the dunks that are performed today by ordinary street-ballers..they shiiit all over wat even the best in the nba were doing 20 years ago.....you rave about how effective and efficient old-time players were.well,guess wat??..thats because they were competing against equally ground-bound,less mobile,less athletic players on the whole so its all relative and the playing field is even in each case.....stockton wud feel like westbrook/rose were moving at fu.ken warp speed if they were put in front of him.
just a reality,fact of improvement,progression,evolution.

Could you imagine teams back then like the Pistons, Knicks, Bulls or Jazz ever having to play "hack-a-shack" defense to win games

Its amazing the people saying teams back then couldn't compete with teams today???

Teams back then would run circles around teams today...there are no offensive sets....its dribble around for 20 seconds and jack up a 3 ball or get a dunk...

Look at the scoring this year....probably 20+ teams averaged 100 points a game...there is no such thing as defense, and if you get sneezed on its a foul...

The babies that play in the NBA today would be bench players for the game that used to be played back in the day

Let's stop with this 'Lebron is having the greatest playoff run ever' nonsense. First of all, 38% is horrible. Have you lost your mind? Horrible. And this 'tired' nonsense... 0 points in the 4th quarter when your teammates are starting to wear down? This is the NBA Finals. Stop watching his numbers and watch his game. He's been atrocious in the 4th quarters. And he stands around far beyond the three point line resting on offense more than you think. MJ actually had to run an offense that was meant to keep everyone active and moving. Every possession.

Going into Game 4 of the Finals

1993 MJ = 140 total minutes (includes 57 min triple OT Game 3)
2015 Lebron = 141 total minutes

** Heading into the Finals, MJ had 5 days rest to recover from a sore wrist after playing the bruising Knicks. Lebron had 9 days rest after playing the Hawks **

Game 5 Production

1993 MJ = 46 mins, 55 points on 57% (half of teams total points)
2015 Lebron = 41 mins, 20 points on 32%

And just when you think he should have been "tired", MJ played 44 out of 48 mins the next game and scored 41 on 55%.

If Lebron could walk, he could have posted up or drove to the basket to at least get some free throws. His will to win is just not up there with MJ's. 0 points in the 4th in a critical Game 4 is ridiculous especially considering they were only down 6 points to start the 4th. He's no more tired than many others that have laid it all on the line in the Finals.

Instead of cherishing the chance to watch LBJ in action, the SOLE purpose of this thread is to put him down by comparing him to in most eyes, the greatest basketball player of all-time. Well, that pretty much put him in a no-win situation no matter how much more he would accomplish this point forward because this is such a subjective matter anyway.

When it comes to domination in their respective era, I will always consider Wilt > MJ.

I was going to take the time to respond to your thread, but I'm not sure what's more embarrassing....your awful grammar or how tough you're trying to be from behind a keyboard.

Lebron can't even post up on Iggy, Harrison or Green without an offensive foul...he wouldn't have been able to ha for the game back then.

He is suppose to be this great physical player the best the Nba has seen, and he cries after fouls from Curry, Thompson and Livingston who are all about 60lbs lighter than him....and you think he would have cut it back then?? Gotcha...

Lebron's problem when compared to Jordan is not his lack of basketball skilols or athleticism - it is his will to achieve what Jordan achieved thru great sacrifices that is lacking.
Jordan was a WINNER. He did not care if it was a championship game or the game in sixth avenue palyground with metal nets  - he just played to win at all cost. NBA was not as protective of it's stars the way it is today and Jordan was being simply assaulted each attack by physical teams and had to leartn how to adjust to that game for over 7 seasons but once he got thru - there was no stopping him. Lebron is a David Stern darling who helped to commercialize NBA and turn it into a circus as Phixer says each time. You simply can't compare between the two for a very simple reason - Lebron in Jordan era would be injured most of the season every season. The Pistons would have eaten him alive. The Jazz wouldn't let him near the rim. The  Knicks would have kicked his butt over and over again because Lebron is not a street basketball player. Jordan had to sit out the whole season with a broken leg.

i agree with almost every single word of wat you said here,you are preaching to the converted...jordan has been and probably always will be my favourite baller and athlete of all-time...as a competitor he was insane,dude was so compelling and magnetic to watch and extraordinary and ahead of his time that if he cud be transported forwards he mite still be the best pure running,leaping athlete in the game today..he was a cold-blooded assassin in shorts and i put no man ahead of him in terms of the overall package......but its a total joke the way lebron is talked about around here,to say that hes "average"????...good lord the guy puts up numbers hardly seen before in the history of the game.no he is definitely not built the same way as michael,he isnt that "rip your heart out"kind of guy on the court.but wat he does offer is pretty damn good as a player only.
