2013-2014 NBA Regular Season - 17-8 (68%)
Games involving the Knicks - 8-2 (80%)
Games involving the Nets - 3-1 (75%)
Now you see why I wanted the Knicks to make the playoffs? There was a lot more money to be made. Too bad they couldn't comply.
The game: Nets @ Raptors 12:30PM EST Line: Raps -3
Why the Raps? Read on. There a A LOT of reasons worth your time and money in Game 1.
There is one game and one game only which is by far the most solid bet in a series. It's not game 7. You won't even know if there will be a game 7. It's game one. Look at the predictor game 1 is for all playoff teams. It is by far the most important game to set a tone for a series, or if you are a dog, a game in which a victory will allow you to be competitive.
The play in this game 1 is the the Raptors and here is why.
1. Chip on the Shoulder
Yes it's obvious. Yes I know you know about it. That doesn't make it any less relevant.
The Nets rested everyone in their final game against the Cavs to get the Raptors in a very public blowout to the Cavs. Players hear what you hear. "The Nets do not want to meet the Bulls in Chicago in the first round. That's a very tough match-up! The Raptors? Yeah, I'll take them. Nets in 6 at worst."
Do the Raptors hear this? Of course.
Kidd: "The fourth or fifth seed doesn't matter to us."
Lo and behold, the Nets end up in the very seed which is worst of the two to play the team many think are worse than the Bulls and the Nets
Do the Raptors see this? Of course.
In a social media age, everything is public and it matters.
The Raptors will have a score to settle here that extends beyond, talent, coaching and whatever is run on the floor.
The Nets set the stage for that.
ALL of that, from the players to the fans, will provide motivation against the billion dollar babies.
That is what we must gauge: motivation. While all teams have it during the playoffs, any additional motivation is quite welcome.
You get that by picking the Raptors here.
Next reason.
