Tell that to the Giants who won not one, but TWO Super Bowls on momentum heading into the playoffs (with unremarkable regular seasons!).
what about all the other teams that were hot but didnt go anywhere? or what about the ravens that lost 4 of last 5 games of the reg season then won the superbowl?!!!!
But the article I read was about the nba, Ill try to find it for you. Im just going based on what I read, some of these math geniuses could write long essays and I still wouldnt get it fully.

Raptors played the first 12 minutes showing they were feeling the playoffs pressure. They need to start running even more.
Our biggest enemy is called Joe Johnson...What a beast. This guy has so much advantage in playing at SG. He is taller and more atheletic than almost every SG in the league.
C'mon Raptors!

moneyshot...agree with you/the article totally...it is a myth in my opinion...all winning and playing well does is create a feeling and build confidence yes i will concede that...but,as we all know, each game starts at 0-0 and previous encounters have absolutely no bearing watsoever on the here and now..(as sports bettors we shud realise that more than any-one)....but all that "momentum" (ie. confidence/mojo) is no good if the other team comes out, matches your intensity and punches you in the mouth early and causes your momentum to suddenly evaporate..as you say there are plenty of examples where this momentum disappeared quickly for every example of it continuing on and on.
and also, conversely,if a team is hot and on a roll if anything it motivates, focuses and fires up an opponent to stop them, making it more likely they will be halted based on this current reputation they have......i truly believe that for any time a team can be officially said to have solid momentum(watever qualifying mark one uses to quantify this) there will be more streak-halting losses than subsequent wins.
of course this is just my opinion, nothing scientific and there are so many factors that contribute to the issue but i concur with wat you suggest

You can't run that much in the playoffs. Brooklyn has a team built to go far in these playoffs with their size and strength. Bad matchup for the Raptors and it didn't help DeRozan shot terribly. This series will be over in 6. And fix the shot clock sheesh!

[Quote: I am not a fan of Williams but I think it is a mistake to compare last year's team to this year's. Kidd, PP, and KG have brought a certain attitude (a mix of experience and toughness) that is palpable. So I'm hoping they don't come out flat.
Sorry, Scal. My old Celtics came through. These guys want Miami, bad. I'm sure you'll win it back by backing this team as the series goes on.

DeRozan really stunk it up. Vegas must have got a hold of him. I still think Raptors were the right pick Scal. Honestly this game shouldn't have even been close if DeRozan would have showed up

@bb - I'm going clippers -7. I'm doing because I've seen you hit too many plays you called and never bet. And you think this could be a blowout. Clips it is.
Crazy thing is, if it was nets bulls game 1 I would have went heavy Nets without a doubt.
