Enjoy it guys. This may not happen again for a decade or even decades.
How in the world are we ever going to duplicate what we are seeing from top to bottom in almost every series?
East
Pacers Hawks -
Hawks - were supposed to tank and have a GM that wanted them to and they winning in spite of him. Jeff Teague becoming a star.
Pacers - One of, if not the single greatest meltdown in terms of a number one seeds we have ever seen. Vogel job status. Hibbert crumbling.
Right now, this looks like a 4/5 instead of a 1/8 (and the Hawks look like the 4 seed)
Nets Raptors -
Nets - The blockbuster trade. The legends. The biggest payroll and luxury tax in the history of the league. The meltdown to begin the year and the comeback after January 1. The home winning streak. The choice to dog it at the end of the year and rest all their players vs. the Cavs to get this very Raptors team. And now instead of what might be the Hawks in round 2, they get the Heat and could have had a very beatable Bulls team in round 1.
Raptors - a team that was a seller unloading Gay for what was thought to be duct tape and twine and then using those very players to beat the Nets. A team that was going to trade Lowry for draft picks and they keep him and he is now their rock in this series. 48 wins/3 seed. F Brooklyn. Shot clock fiasco.
A game 5 back in that nuthouse that is Toronto (those fans are rabid!).
Wizards Bulls
Bulls - win the first round last year and everyone has big expectations this year, even to beat the Heat. Meltdown. Lose first two home games and game 4.
Wizards - One of the biggest surprises of this playoffs (for those that didn't see this coming). Nene headbutt. Nene suspension. Blow the Bulls out in the first half without him in game 4. Two comebacks to win in game 1 and 2.
Heat Cats
The only dud series and it's forgivable.
West
Spurs Mavs
Spurs - 0-3 ATS in first 3. On their heels for game 4 as the second mega-favorite series line-wise going into the post season.
Mavs - Vince for 3 with 1.9. A 20 point blowout in San Antonio. True shocker team.
OKC Memphis
3 straight OT games!
OKC - the comeback in game 4 with their season on the line. Forcing OT in games 2 and 3 with all the momentum and losing BOTH.TWO 4 point plays late, with the Durant 4 point miracle failing to go down in history as one of the greatest playoff shots ever because they lost the game.
Memphis - defying all the critics and looking like the better team in this series right now as huge dogs going in!
Clippers Warriors
All the hate between the two to begin with and then the Sterling bomb!
Clips - will they dump? Will they play? The protest. The 40 point blowout while still shooting threes up 38. The 'foul' on Paul in game 1 the league apologizes for. Paul/Blake/Doc all the additions. So many big guns here.
Warriors - losing Bogut, their vital big man and still getting to 2-2. The 'foul' on Curry that wasn't called. The Curry mouthpiece throw. The blowout in game 4.
Rockets Blazers
INCREDIBLE offense here
3 OT games in this series too!
Rockets - Mr. D League Troy Daniels game winner in game 3 to save the Rockets season. Harden with some ridiculous horse like shots. Howard pulling out first rate D late. Howard actually hitting clutch free throws! All the big guns who may go down In the first round after all the Dwight hoopla. McHale sweating like a war surgeon on the sidelines.
Blazers - one of the best stories the NBA has to offer. Lamarcus' legendary game 1 AND game 2. Lillard becoming a front line star in this league in these playoffs. Batum with incredible clutch threes.
If you cannot stay up late, DVR this series. It is truly amazing.
All I am saying is that through a mere 4 games, nothing in my lifetime has matched a first round like this from play, to excitement to storylines a that can never be duplicated.
Save one series, 7 of 8 series are a MUST WATCH!
Bet on the games but watch them as a fan too because it may be 15 or 20 years that we get all the series in the first round with such excitement and intrigue. Hope it continues.
