Cavs looked better tonight on defense without Love in the lineup. Green is a better defender than Love, which helps. Love has been such a dissapointment all series. On the other hand, since he hardly played tonight he might be the freshest guy on Sunday. All the Cavs need is one guy (besides James) to score 20-25 points and they have a great chance of winning. Just one guy. Maybe it will be love. But no one has done it yet. They were in position in game 5, but nobody got hot and the Celtics pulled away. Those backing the Cavs must hope that guy shows up. If he doesn't, James will not be able to carry them on short rest. It is as simple as that.

Boston has played a long season, and the reward they earned is to play a game 7 against the Cavs AT HOME. The game 7 will be much more competititve with huge 10 pt plus runs, and a better sustained effort from the Celts than what we saw in game 6. LeBron is not enough.
I completely agree. But all they need is for one other guy to help LBJ to take the pressure off and keep the Celtics defense honest. I think that is possible. Could be Love, Smith, or Korver. Just one guy.

this is a tough one for sure..intuition and all the talking heads going on and on and on about not betting against lebron in a game 7 gives me pause...but absolutely nothing i have seen with my eyes tells me that cavs can get it done here, its just like a 180 degree different atmosphere for this young celtics group, defense is ramped up to over 100,role players play like stars for brief spurts and crowd makes it tough on the visitor...with everything on the line logic says its hard not to see boston find a way....in the other 3 home games it barely looked like cleveland ever had a chance except for a couple of quarters,i just struggle to see how they can turn it round that much...lebron likely gets 40+,he HAS TO,but even with a great night from love and/or j.r etc..boston has shown enough balanced scoring and poise to make me think they can build and maintain whatever lead they have......i get the feeling whatever happens it will somehow be ultra-dramatic,probably not a blowout as most the other games have been.

Cinderella will lose game 7 at home. No way lebron loses 4 straight in Boston. no way Jose. The setup is beautiful. you want ratings? Well you got it!!! Cleveland no defense all year and horrible season record ats and SU and now they are in Boston to beat Cinderella who owns their home court... I’m anxiously waiting for this game. Aren’t you?

Boston wins... It also depends on what happens tonight... If GS blows out Houston tonight, Vegas would get killed for a Game 7 cuz everyone would be on them but if GS barely wins tonight, then Game 7 could be a toss up but GS would win.. I see everyone picking Houston/Cleveland but it makes no sense... People assume Cleveland can beat Houston who would of just beat GS, how does that make sense.. It is the year of the upset and Houston and Cleveland making the finals with Cleveland winning, none of those are big time upsets.... Boston winning the East with "injured" players is a massive upset...And if Cleveland won it all that means LBJ would stay in Cleveland which no one wants...

I like this narrative but he will still need one other guy to show up. He will not be able to carry the team by himself. No way Jose:)

Love officially ruled out with a concussion. Maaaan I've got a Cavs in 7 bet at +500. I think I have to hedge, I really don't trust them to win in Boston. I was hoping Cavs would be favored so I'd have a middle. I think this line creeps to -2.5 or -3 with Love out. It's risky but I'm thinking about a teaser with GS tonight so I can open up a middle with Boston. Pretty confident the dubs can win by double digits tonight and I could grab 3 or 4.5 with Boston then. Could definitely see a close game where that 3 or 4 points comes into play

Love being out means they have one less guy who can give them the 20-25 points they need to win this game. And he had the fresh legs. On the other hand, the guy is so so soft and has been awful thus far (at least for an all-star type player). I think defensively they will be much better off, which might then help their offense by generating stops. I imagine Green will start in his place and maybe Hood or somebody else can give them a spark off the bench.

They basically won the game without Love yesterday

Yeah I thought they played great after love left the game. I actually hope they give nance the nod at PF. Dude is young, athletic, and 10 times the rim protector Love is. He can also dunk like crazy and he adds some toughness to this team that desperately needs it. Green played well too and getting these guys in the rotation will definitely be a positive. I also wish Lue would give Clarkson more minutes over JR. JR might be the worst player in the league who gets over 30 mins every game. Clarkson can score and they obviously need another offensive threat out there

Jeff Green starting, as predicted. Now will this mercurial guy actually show up today? I have followed his career from the time he was traded to Boston. People forget that he was the 4th wheel in OKC with KD, Westbrook, and Harden. The guy never lived up to his potential, despite everything Boston tried. Ironically enough, what is missing from this guy, or has been missing, is heart, desire, determination. I say ironic because soon after he came to Boston he needed heart surgery. He is like the lion in the wizard of oz. Maybe he will find his courage today. Or maybe he won't.

BB I am surprised you are not promoting the "Player goes down other players step up angle" which is not only strong the game immediately after an injury but even stronger with an in game injury.
We'll never know if the Cavs would have won Game 6 with Love in the lineup (they certainly looked tentative) but this opens the door for the Celtics. I believe it's all being handed to them on a silver platter given Lebron is about as tired as he could ever be and will need to play 45 tonight. Which means this falls on Hill. And Hill just isn't going to give you what he's given you on average. This is a Cavs team without Love and Kyrie in a Game 7 in Boston. That is a tall order. I don't disagree with the points you are making though. But Love stretches the floor. He opens up so much for Lebron. Knowing he's out will make Lebron easier to defend than would have been had he been on the floor.

Scal, on paper, everything points to Boston. The Cavs have given us no reason to back them and I certainly am not. However, what I am trying to do is take into account the various scenarios under which the Cavs might win. One of those involves someone other than LBJ having a big game. Call me crazy, but I really thought the Cavs played well in game 5 (in terms of effort, intensity and focus) but just could not hit the shots when they mattered. Nobody, and I mean nobody, gave them a lift. The Celtics looked tentative for three quarters (imo) and only really took a stranglehold because the Cavs could not make one run, though they kept trying. If the Cavs are as locked in as they were in game 5, but have a better shooting night, I think they have a good chance to win. But those are a lot of ifs.

I agree with all that BB. But I can't depend on Hill. He's really been the spark plug (and Korver comes out of the woodwork in these situations as well). So who's left? I mean LBJ all the time every time is just too much of a load. Lebron, psychologically actually has an out here if he goes down (not only did the Cavs give away Wade to the Heat but now Love is gone and Kyrie is already gone. The other pieces are just mix and match management moves). I think the Celts have to come out and bring the hammer down in the first quarter like in Game 2. If it is even within 10 late, they can easily lose. It's on a silver platter for god's sake. As bad as Love has been, the optic of him being out should give the Celtics much more confidence.

So I'm guessing you are not hedging your Boston futures:)
