clearly this one is dead, its trae comfortably.
lets shift the topic of conversation to novak djokovic....
Brick, brick, brick, deep 3, “See look Trae is better than a 22 year old Steph”, ha ha. The same Steph that shot 48/45/93 in the NBA as a 22 year old. Covers logic.

13/30 typical Trae game. Been that way since college. He’s good though, but he’ll never be on Stephs level as long as he shoots so poorly. I hope he gets better though. I like him.

Ice Tray is going to be one of the main faces of the league for the next decade, love it or hate it, this team will add key pieces to be championship contenders over the next few years...they are that close to getting over the hump - and this is essentially ground zero for them...win or lose in game 7, hats off to the hawks for what theyve accomplished this season...could you imagine Beal or Lillard on Atlanta next year? Easy ECF for them with either addition imo

YAAAAAYYYYY!!!thats where im at..but i think i am in the vast minority.he doesnt get nearly the attention as the best that ever lived that roger, rafael and others (sampras/laver?) do...but he is astonishing, can play on pretty much every surface,is made of rubber, has the stamina of a fuggin marathon runner, his shotmaking and physical weapons are elite and in the greatest era of tennis ever he has a very strong record against them other 2 dudes and is ranked number 1 basically the whole time hes been healthy..what am i missing here?..if he doesnt break down then he will probably top the charts in accolades and achievements also...but me and you are on an island it feels like...i have personally felt it was going this way for about 7 years...dude is just special.

youve repeated basically the EXACT SAME THING now a good 25 fuccing times..15 fuggin pages deep and not once has the penny dropped that you are missing the main subject line of the thread..its not about whether he will ever "get to stephs level"..we can all pretty well agree that there isnt a snowballs chance in hell of him hitting currys peak, even for a brief period.but thats completely irrelevant.its simply whether at THE AGE OF TWENTY FUCCIN TWO he is a more accomplished, better overall player.and given the evidence it is almost 100% clear that he has the edge over 22 year old steph.you can repeat the same inane drivel about shooting till the cows come home but if you werent so simplistic you would realise there are several aspects to the game outside of that..yes,its very important to shoot the ball accurately,d'uh!!!..but its not the ONLY thing...theres plenty better shooters than lebron and quite a few better than jordan, but that dont make any of them better overall players.

spoiler alert...i agree with you guys, Djoker is the top dog, and hopefully i will be able to articulate why when i have some quiet time to give that topic the attention it deserves...no slight to Rafa or Roger, but the facts and numbers will point to only one guy, and he comes from Serbia.
I promise itll be a fun thread for any tennis fan to participate in

My wife even likes him, even though she doesn't really follow tennis like that. We saw a 60 minutes story on him some years back that was endearing. I can't believe this thread is still going. There's so much more to sports. I saw a world record throw in the shot putt today at the olympic trials. Beautiful, clear day here in the Pacific Northwest, at the mecca of Track and Field. Will be back out there tomorrow.

You were there live? Thats really cool...is it a regional qualifier or the big national one?
My best friend in college ended up making the Canadian Trampoline team in the early 2000s, it was so amazing watching him train. Mad respect to all those non-major sport atheletes

@packersbackers
National trials. Not my first time. As far as I know, they always have the track and field trials in Eugene. I went in 2016 as well.

There is nothing he does well enough that makes up for his lack of shooting when it comes to Steph. That’s why I keep mentioning the shooting. If he was some lock down elite defender and did what he did on offense, sure, but he’s not. Steph was better in college and better as a 22 year old. Nothing changed.

thats the thing also,as a dude i find him very likable.particularly stacked up against other elite sportsmen with their vapid personalities and cliche-riddled answers...but i think he rubs most people the wrong way and isnt seen as genuine...i dunno,i cant figure it out.he is the prototype of the perfect athlete in his individual field to me.almost flawless game and a good character off the court.
i know all his fans will come at me for saying it cos they worship the ground he walks on,but its roger that seems a bit corny and disingenuous to me.he seems smug as fucc, but i guess its all subjective how one reads other people....i always remember interviews from his early days of total dominance and on the rare ocassion that he loses he just would not give an ounce of credit to the guy that took him down,it was all about him being off or what he did wrong..and thats probably fair to an extent but if you beat roger federer you should get some damn credit!!if he is this incredible "true sportsman" he should be humble enough to give a little praise..and im sure he has probably changed since then,i dont follow closely enough, but that irked me.

At 22! Can anyone read anymore?! My god, ma. At 22. No one is stupid enough to compare their overall careers. Learn to read.

stu has mentioned multiple times what he does better and you have chosen to ignore it or YOU HAVE DECIDED that they dont "make up for" his shortcomings as a shooter..its an insanely simplistic view to take to ignore everything but shooting or to put 10X value of shooting efficiency over everything else a player can contribute.

No, they both suck on D. Steph had as many assists and turnovers this year as he did at 22. Steph was just as good of a ball handler at 22. There’s just nothing that Trae does that well that makes him a better 22 year old than arguably the most skilled offensive player to ever touch a basketball when he was 22. It’s not really even that close. Traes just too inefficient of a shooter. More like a less athletic Russell Westbrook.

Can we do a hypothetical, please?! If Roger had beaten Djoker at Wimbledon at the age of 38 and Djoker at 32, like he should have, with two match points in Roger’s racket, then what would you say? If Roger had won that match, at his age, against the much younger Djoker, like he should have, Roger would be the GOAT. No doubt about it. Too bad he chocked!! That loss, and the Warriors losing to the Cavs after being up 3-1 are the most painful losses for me as a fan of the sport. Both Roger and the Warriors should have won, but somehow they didn’t. Not because the opponent was clutch, but because they choked.
