If Trae wins in Philly then I agree BB
Yep and it’s the difference between one of the worst game 7 performances to “omg Trae is so great he made it to the ecf”. Team sports are amazing.

trae young,huh??
how bout that...despite his abominable shooting he STILL manages to take his team on the road TWICE and beat better teams when he doesnt have one single superstar,forget that one other STAR,beside him.all of that while being the primary ball-handler with a big usage rate and focal point of the offense....jeeeez,you'd almost think that he has a GREAT ALL AROUND IMPACT on his teams performance despite his obvious erratic shooting wouldnt ya??
if shooting is the ONLY AND MOST IMPORTANT asset a player can possess (as a dumb-as.s like throwdemdarts would have you believe)then why is trae even on the court??....ooooooooooh,thats right its cos he does other things and does them well.better than what curry did at the same stage.
if shooting is the ONE AND ONLY true metric of a players value then why didnt steph do what trae has done at the age of 22??i mean steph was obviously an incredible shooter at that point so what gives??

@melossinglet
Hawks won game 7..but it was not because of Trae and very far from it....Trae had nothing to do with this win..Was HORRIBLE...Give credit where credit is due..and that is Huerter and Garinallo..

I was gonna let this thread die regardless of who won but for some reason they keep bumping a thread calling a small poor defending, poor shooting point guard better than arguably the most skilled offensive player to ever touch a basketball at the same age. Delusion, not really even close. Would take Seth Curry that series over Trae.

No you wouldnt, be real...not even close...you want as many Alphas on your team as possible, Seth is a beta, hes a top of the line beta, but a beta nonetheless.
Trae is an alpha, all 5 feet of him

translation-i was gonna let this thread die but im a fuccing bot that has no critical thinking or comprehension skills and must repeat the same crap ad nauseum till my power supply runs short or my programmers send me elsewhere in the forums.

To be honest I actually would. Finding point guards who can pass is not that hard. Finding a guard who can give you 21 on 60% shooting from 3 and the field. Get outta here. Give me Seth any day.

@ThrowDemDarts
I respect your takes, so we will agree to disagree...Curry is nice, but hes no better than a John Paxson or Steve Kerr, every championship team needs a guy like that, but not over a leader of men who commands respect and the ball like Young...in a few years from now if he remains healthy, Young will only improve his shot selection, shooting %, assist totals, its actually scary how good he will be with this team, having the green light already, and im assuming McMillan will get a contract extention which will only give Young more consistency in game plan...also, once Young learns the game, he will get 10-12 free throws every game.
Curry looked good this series because he was taking all the poiints and shots Simmons refused to take.

at no point in time did i even insinuate,let alone state, that they won today cos of young...i was merely alluding to the context of the bigger picture,which is in the ERA OF JUMPSHOTS/LONG SHOOTING,trae is a decidedly mediocre shooter that shoots a little too much it must be said...and yet he has just lead his team to TWO underdog series wins and a spot in the ECF and he definitely has contributed along the way....and he has ZERO all-stars with him.
so can you please explain this for the simple-minded amongst the audience??he cant shoot and cant play any defense whatsoever and yet he is a primary option with a high usage rate in a team that is having great success at the toughest part of the season.
now surely.....surely.....surely..he must be doing alot of things well in other parts of his game to have such an impact and influence over a team that has been trash for so long,no???its almost like....ummmm...oh,i dunno..theres OTHER PARTS to the game of basketball than shooting....?????
his ball-handling and passing is a whole level above what currys was at the same stage and he draws fouls and finishes close to the rim better too..and his team is infused with confidence and feeds off him clearly in a way that currys warriors never,ever did in the first 4 years he was in the league.

bahahaha...oh,mark my words.if the hawks were to win the title behind trae young at the age of 22 there aint a snowballs chance in hell this thread is dying anytime soon.

Off a horrible shooting night he still ended up with 21 and 11. He's the undisputed leader of a team in the ECF. At 22. I've stayed away from this dumb ass thread for the past for a while but he argument is over. Huerter had a good shooting night. That's it. This isn't his team. This isn't Collins' team. Trae's the unquestioned leader of A ECF team. He's not a high percentage shooter. He wasn't in college. As a point guard though, his listed position, his ability to make the correct play couple with his ability to get into the lane, and get to the line, at his size, is transcendent. I don't give a damn about Trae Young. I disliked him in college. I'm not a fan now but i'm not gonna blow smoke out of my ass about the kid just to win an argument. If you're sleeping on him, either you're full of shit or you don't understand basketball. The kid rolls out of bed with a double double.

@StumpTownStu
Double double machine indeed...if he works on his craft, hes a legit 20pt 20 assist type player which would redefine the pg position

@packersbackers
The one thing I like about him is his competitiveness. But it’s also why I like Russell Westbrook. Another ball dominant guard who accumulates stats but shoots so poorly it sometimes makes him a liability. That’s why I don’t think that highly of trae. I was more impressed with the Hawks team defense this series than Trae.
