@StumpTownStu You obviously didn't watch college basketball at the time. I've watched college ball for 20 years, and outside of Carmelos tourney run I've never seen anything like Curry's. Steph was a top 10 pick and one of the greatest college players in history. It's not like he was some late 2nd rounder that blossomed in to the greatest offensive player of all time. Your argument is ridiculous to be honest. We have tvs, it's not like we haven't seen both of them play.
You're proving my point with your own words. I'm a die hard college basketball fan. Steph was magical in college. His game didn't immediately transfer over to the pros. Not because of Monta but because he wasn't physically able to do those things against NBA competition at 22. You keep bringing up college incessantly because you don't know dick about Steph, the pro, at 22.

I am not a skilled observer and I don't watch that much basketball to begin with, so I'll just report what I have learned. One of the Daily Wager commentators stated that TY is not a very good DEF player and nobody disagreed with him. According to this link: https://www.forbes.com/sites/rayglier/2021/01/22/trae-young-atlanta-hawks-growing-on-defense-is-it-good-enough/?sh=7feb2cc170af "Trae Young was rated the WORST defensive PG in the league in 2019-2020." He may have improved since then, but I don't see a one-way player as a serious MVP candidate of the league. He can certainly score enough to be the MVP of any playoff series. He had six TO's today, but at least he had 10 assists. To his credit, his career average PPG is a whopping 11 points higher than John Stockton's.
That's exactly why I mention shooting all the time. Because they're both bad on defense, so since that cancels each other out, you're left with offense... and there is no chance Trae Young is a more skilled offensive player than Steph Curry was at 22. Steph went 19/6 shooting 48/44/93 as a 22 year old and he wasn't even the focal point of the offense. I mean, how ridiculous can you be to think Trae Young is better than that just because he has the ball more and accumulates more stats. Ridic

No point guard is ever really a good defender. It's simply a size thing. Trae Young is small as shit and will especially never be a good defender but Steph isn't either. Even guys like Ive who is credited with being a good defender is on record saying, "I wasn't a good defender. I'm too small. That's why they surrouded me with defenders." Even guys like Pat Bev are more pesky than good. Pat Bev could never be a defender like Jordan or Kawhi who are both 6'6"-7" with long arms and big hands. Or even Kobe who was built like Jordan even though he lacked his arm length and hand size.

By my teen years it was 10 to 20. At the height, from age 18 to 30, before they became "the Dubs", it was 20+ every year. I even worked on the stage crew at the Coliseum in my young adulthood. He changed the whole attitude of the team. He made us winners and he did it for Oakland. He wasn't happy about the team moving across the bay. And he's a nice as dude to boot. He's everything you could ever ask for in a franchise player. He's the baby faced assassin. He's our baby faced assassin.
hey,i looooooove watching curry...one of the most entertaining, compelling, joyous sights to watch in sports history in my view...but we talkin about jordan here, dude was an alien...my guess is that there are PLENTY of americans that have strong affiliations to their own local team outside of chicago that still see "air" as their favourite guy...dude was just a mesmerising, athletic freakshow.basketball perfection.
but maybe your emotional ties are clouding your vision.hehe......i think jordan should actually just be in a class of his own, outside of any other basketball player ranking category

im pretty sure you/me are replying to an algorithmally-programmed bot..do you not get the same sense??throwdemdarts literally refuses to address anything youve written in the past 15 pages and instead has just repeated the same 7 line cliche-riddled paragraph over and over again.talkin bout "most skilled offensive yada yada yada"..."48/44/93 yada yada yada.."

I don't know what you actually watched. Trae Young does not seem much different to me than he was in college other than normal NBA experience. I honestly thought he could be the next Steph because he had good handles, he played a little like him, but he just needed to become a better shooter. It's been 3 years since college and he's just as bad of a shooter. I don't know what else to say. You're being blinded by the team success of the Hawks. He's still the same guy in college that has the ball in his hands, gets 8-10 assists per game, takes a ton of shots, and shoots at a poor %. I just don't know what you are watching that makes you think he has gone from college to now and developed in to a better player than Steph did at that age. He's not even a top 100 shooter in the league. That's a deal breaker for a guy who's not good on defense.

Jordan is the best but not my favorite. It's almost like Jordan can't be anyone's favorite. He's just Jordan. It's like someone saying their favorite band is the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.

My favorite band is the Quintet of the Hot Club of France featuring Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli - hot swing jazz from the Thirties and Forties.

Young wins in Milwaukee when the great Jimmy Butler and Kevin Durant could not. How stupid the naysayers on this thread look now. How ill informed. How ignorant. How totally clueless about the game of basketball.

you 2 really do look stupid here...you are both too pig-headed and arrogant to concede but all the people with functioning brains see whats going on here.
1)NEITHER of you, throwdemdarts or davemsh, have replied yet to the question of did you even watch curry play regularly in his 1st 4-5 years in the league...ya know, before he was famous.and i think everyone reading knows exactly why you havent answered that.
2)its so fuccing obvious that stevie wonder can see by now that young is MUCH more advanced in handling the ball, navigating through an elite defense, finishing at the rim, sneakily drawing fouls, passing in all manner of ways and just generally infusing his squad with confidence via his leadership and moxie.
and yet the best that you utter dopes can come up with is......"uh,but he not shoot good...uggga-bugga-ugga!!!"

Much more advanced ball handling than pretty much the most skilled offensive player to ever touch a basketball. You crack me up. You guys act like Steph Curry started dribbling when he was 23.

and........here........we.....go........for the 254th fuccing time.you must surely be one of the dumbest people on covers.congrats..thats quite a title to hold in a very competitive category i must say.you literally have about 42 words in your vocabulary and just regurgitate them over and over and over again, desperately hoping that nobody notices your complete inability to engage in critical thought or nuanced debate.
i reckon kyrie is more skilled than curry offensively but whatever, you can have your fantasy for the sake of argument..okay,fact of the matter is that yes curry DEVELOPED,did you read and understand that word??DEVELOPED!!!! into the most skilled offensive player to ever play..he wasnt it when he first came in the league,he wasnt it in his second year in the league,he wasnt it in his third year in the league..FIND ME A PERSON WHO EVER CALLED HIM THAT IN HIS FIRST THREE/FOUR YEARS IN THE LEAGUE....i'll wait....Still waiting.
any clue why he was never called that back then,dopey???hmmmm..any ideas??anything??bueller...bueller...bueller...bueller......no,of course you dont have any idea, you didnt even watch the guy regularly back when warriors were an absolute dumpster fire in the andries biedrins era.
the reason is cos he wasnt it at that point in time..he made HUGE IMPROVEMENTS all around in his game after the age of 21,22,23..are you trying to argue this??that he didnt make huge strides in all areas outside of shooting in that time period??
why the fucc was he an mvp at the age of 27 and not even close to being in the conversation at 22-25????..did the entire league just become trash in the years he won it so they gave it to him by default???..or maybe....juuust maaaayyybe he kept on improving and improving and rounding out his game, plus played with better players which helps a whole lot....ya think???maybe??
