Thought the same exact thing as I was sweating a 2h under 101.5 so I&#x27;m happy they didn&#x27;t call it, but technically he probably should have been shooting 2.  But they hardly ever call that, and why would the guy even foul there in the first place, of course why did they go for 2 down 6 and less than 10 seconds left. Denver played for the cover, not to win. It was obvious on the way they went about their 2nd-to-last possession. They should&#x27;ve been shooting nothing but 3s on their final 2 possessions. In the end they didnt make ANY 3 attempts.

BC -- I think that&#x27;s easily explainable by the fact that they were 4-19 from deep that game. DEN could have got quick two, steal, another two and boom. You&#x27;ll note they went for the steal both times early but fouled when they didnt get it

I dont buy it. At worst, you look to the players who've goiven you the 4 successful 3s and say, its gotta go to 1 of these guys. Are you out to win the game? Stealing isn't an issue when all LA has to do with their possessions is have a player hold the ball and swing his arms about a bit. On the last possession, that guy in the near corner had no LA players close to him, all he had to do was step back a pace or 2, and a clear 3 attempt was his, but with time running out, he threw it inside... absolutely meaningless if winning the game is what youre about. But not meaningless if covering is your mo.

fwiw, I had no money on this, just a survivor pick. My observations are therefore basically unbiased. I know what I just saw.

Are you also saying you think denver&#x27;s players had money on themselves &#x2B;5.5?  If that were really the case why did they foul with 9 seconds left and they were down 4 or were they still playing for the win at that point?  I&#x27;m really asking since you seem to know it all, being unbiased and all.  And I watched that same play, the Lakers player was contesting the 3 and giving up the 2, thats what they were probably told to do.

Look guys, I think you are wrong about them absolutely having to shoot threes. It was clear that the Lakers defense was told to give up no three pointers but if they want a two, let them have it and then take the FTs that are sure to follow.

While I am sure that some (all?) of the players know the spread, to think that they would alter their late-game strategy to cover but not to try to give themselves what THEY think is the best chance to win is kinda hard to believe. These guys are getting paid millions, they are in the playoffs now, they will want to win, cover be damned.
