Lucky breaks can swing things sideways in a hurry and upset the best laid plans. But the way I approach any game is too consider my chances ASSUMING roughly even breaks on each side - and in that even which is the better team. I judge that by things like pt diff, the venues they played and WHO they played, and the venue tonight. ALL STATS must be judged in light of WHO THEY PLAYED to achieve them -- including their W/L record. So let's look:Saints played bottom rated teams a whopping 7 times....and padded their W/L with 6 wins from that. They actually LOST one of those and narrowly escaped 2 others. But equally important is: How many times did they face TOP TIER teams (single digit rated)? Only one. And they lost to Detroit at home....Thus, their 7 wins are padded by winning 6 against bottom dwellers, and escaped more than 7 losses by only facing ONE top tier squad! Compare that to Rams (who are 100% healthy now btw!!)Rams only got to pad their WIN total playing just 3 bottom dwellers - but won all 3 by at least 8+ pts -- never coming close to actually losing to them, which Saints did ONCE and almost 2 more times!Further, the Rams loss column is dominated by being forced to face not just ONE top tier squad like the fortunate Saints, but FIVE! They managed to win one of those and took Ravens to OT in another! In short, RAMS faced a far tougher SoS than Saints but achieved the same 7 wins! And they are at HOME! Venue matters! Rams are better at home! Rams have looked GOOD in their recent 5 games - winning 4 and taking Ravens to OT in the other (losing on a fluky kick return TD)Saints are feeling comfortable coming off 3 consecutive home games - winning the recent 2 but against weakass teams (Carolina and Giants) Now they hit the road FINALLY.They lost their last 2 road games to mediocre opps by at least 8 pts each....Rams are easily better than those two teams....But like I always say NOTHING is GUARANTEED. Breaks can quickly flip the game, no doubt... Fubah's WEEK 16:from PinnacleRams -198            *Best Bet 3uRams -1.0 -188      *Best Bet 2u Rams -1.5 -177

I EXPECT Higbee will have a productive night against that Saints D.

    And Williams.   And Cooper.

    Nice wins, Fubah! an_clap

I hope Derek Carr and Saints make it to the playoffs, they definitely need lot of help. But I wish Carr the best.

Both teams 7 - 7.   But that is deceptive!

A lot of people put too much stock in those w/L records and in this case think this is an even game. Well, it might very well turn out that way.
    So let's look:
Saints played bottom rated teams a whopping 7 times....and padded their W/L with 6 wins from that. They actually LOST one of those and narrowly escaped 2 others. But equally important is: How many times did they face TOP TIER teams (single digit rated)? Only one. And they lost to Detroit at home....
Thus, their 7 wins are padded by winning 6 against bottom dwellers, and escaped more than 7 losses by only facing ONE top tier squad!

Compare that to Rams (who are 100% healthy now btw!!)
Rams only got to pad their WIN total playing just 3 bottom dwellers - but won all 3 by at least 8+ pts -- never coming close to actually losing to them, which Saints did ONCE and almost 2 more times!
Further, the Rams loss column is dominated by being forced to face not just ONE top tier squad like the fortunate Saints, but FIVE! They managed to win one of those and took Ravens to OT in another!
In short, RAMS faced a far tougher SoS than Saints but achieved the same 7 wins!
And they are at HOME! Venue matters! Rams are better at home!

Rams have looked GOOD in their recent 5 games - winning 4 and taking Ravens to OT in the other (losing on a fluky kick return TD)
Saints are feeling comfortable coming off 3 consecutive home games - winning the recent 2 but against weakass teams (Carolina and Giants) Now they hit the road FINALLY.
They lost their last 2 road games to mediocre opps by at least 8 pts each....Rams are easily better than those two teams....
But like I always say NOTHING is GUARANTEED. Breaks can quickly flip the game, no doubt...

    Fubah's WEEK 16:
    from Pinnacle
    W    Rams -198            *Best Bet 3u
    W    Rams -1.0 -188      *Best Bet 2u
    W    Rams -1.5 -177

Yes, both Michaels and Herbstreit were spot on about that.

RAMS  have looked  *GOOD* the past 6 games,  coinciding with Stafford's return from a one game absence (Packers) ....and all their guys are healthy!

I also agree with you that Carr deserves a better fate and I do wish him well!

Coach says if Trevor Lawrence passes the concussion protocol this morning then he will fly with the team to Tampa with the intention of starting.  He's never missed a game.

So, we are waiting on word if Lawrence boards that flight.  Then we'll know.

Even so, I feel Beathard is at least serviceable.  And coming off 3 consecutive losses one has to wonder if JAGS are going to surprise on Sunday, with or w/o Lawrence.   Bucs are only 3 - 3 at home for -4 pt diff having faced a substandard group at that.  Coming off 3 straight wins one might be tempted to think Tampa is on a hot streak therefore it WILL continue against an equal opponent.

That's two runs that oppose each other and either both will get extended in opposite directions OR Tampa will get upended....That one seriously could easily come down to one lucky bounce of the ball....

an_lightCoin flipper if Lawrence plays.   Leaning Bucs if not....

    @fubah2

I'm not sure if Rams should jack up a notch from a mediocre to upper tier, but I do see them clicking since week 12. Matthew Stafford has played pretty well ever since, their run game has ticked up some plus an improving defense. That dude, Makea "Puka" Nacua, certainly makes Rams' team look good on the offense too. Rams have 70+% to make it to the postseason, I guess they do, Fubah.

Good point.....it's close! an_2drinks   I waffled on that so I placed RAMS at the head of the class in the middle group just on the cusp of the next tier....or I could have put them up but on the far end..... I confess I looked ahead to what should be another loss when they play Frisco.

But the big change was dropping EAGLES from the highest tier.  I don't put as much stock in a team's W/L as most do as it can be deceptive, much like my posted analysis for the TNF game.   Despite being 10 - 4 EAGLES own a paltry +18 pt. differential. an_getaway

9 one possession games, and they lost their recent three su.....yikes!

an_light Lawrence (concussion/ankle) has reportedly cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and is in line to travel with the Jaguars ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

With Lawrence expected to be starting, I am calling this one in TAMPA a coin-flipper against the line.......So I will be watching for possible ingame bets....

Bengals won't have their best WR (Chase) and their best run-stuffer (DJ Reader)  Coming off 3 consecutive wins and Steelers coming off 3 consecutive losses is a situation that more often than not reverses itself for the home team - in this case getting 3 pts as well.....

Steelers are tempting, but I wanna hold off until I see how well Mason Rudolf plays, and will look for an ingame opp on the home dogs more than likely if all goes well....

Steelers are tempting, but I wanna hold off until I see how well Mason Rudolf plays, and will look for an ingame opp on the home dogs more than likely if all goes well....

OK, well Bengals driving deep and should pick up the first down inside the 3....then score to get within 14 pts......and anything can happen.....But Steelers will get the last drive of the half then get the ball to start 2H!

I had emptied one of my books bankroll onto the STEELERS to win .... with the score 24 - 0  I am hopeful even though I am prepared for the Bengals to score once and possibly twice in the 3Q....then it will get tense an_nailbiter
