GL on the play BB.
As I posted on your last thread, I'll be rooting for a SF win as I need Washington to lose to help out on my Giants division bet.
Most likely I'll have no skin on this one

No “skin” in this one is a good one. Neither do I. This is the game where Shanahan and company have to throw the kitchen sink at Washington. No more holding out or pacing oneself to play an entire season. It’s do or die, baby!

Matt LaFleur....
"He's one of the smartest people I know and it shows. You can see just the energy, the effort that the defense in San Francisco plays with over there, as well as just the scheme is really tough to go against. I'm real confident he'll be a head coach somewhere in this league in the near future."

Thanks BB for the "full" write up versus just a write up. Those 49ers are thrilled you are on them and brimming with confidence knowing about your thoughts on the game

I’m sure they are. It’s been interesting reading other prognosticators take on the game. People are really split. But one of my favorite guys is on them for some of the same reasons I mentioned. Here is what he wrote:
Yes, San Francisco got torn up by the Bills last week in Arizona. It wasn't pretty at all. And yes, Washington just won their Super Bowl, handing the Steelers their first loss of the season. But Alex Smith can't run around all over the place and chuck it the way Josh Allen does, and the Washington Football Team doesn't have much in terms of persistent downfield thrust. Their run game looks compromised, too; Washington is not a team that is going to score a lot of points. The 49ers defense will bounce back and, well, Kyle Shanahan can say he has no ill will towards Washington or the owner or anybody there, but I just don't buy it. I don't see Kyle calling off the dogs if he does get a lead and I think he will try to run the ball down Washington's throat and not ask his quarterback to do too much. As long as they avoid catastrophic mistakes, they will win this football game by a touchdown or more.
The pick: 49ers -3.5

I saw the thread, buddy. I agree but wanna wait to see how this week goes. Especially with Covid running ramped.

I took a good look into this game and lemme tell you that the 49ers know they’ll be packing their bags soon. They will in know way catch up to the Rams, Arizona, and Seattle. They also have two road games remaining. Washington is the best team in the NFC east. SF holds no real advantage playing in Arizona. Advantage goes to Washington with Alex Smith who knows the 49ers system very well. Not only does he know the system but Rivera has followed the 49ers offensive system since his days in Carolina and will almost definitely use it against them this week. The 49ers still have to rely on Mullens and Washington just beat the Steelers. This will be a great matchup and I like the veteran Smith to pull it off. It’s Chase Young over Trent Williams and Washington just got a MAJOR BOOST with WR Gandy-Golden’s potential return opening things up for receivers Thomas, Sims, etc. The 49ers ground game is non existent and Payton Barber is turning things up for the Wft.
How in the world can anyone trust Mullens under center with no run game to help his situation and half their star players on IR?

However I do like the Over 43.5. The 49ers will have to give it all they got but the offense of the WFT shows the rest of the NFL they’re not the team to play with.
WTF 28-20, 31-21 type game.

Which one of you should I believe?
And yet, despite everything you say, and every statistical fact pointing towards Washington, the Niners are 3 point favorites on a neutral field. Wonder why?

Lmao. I initially liked the 49ers but after some research I’m convinced the WFT wins straight up. The 49ers have a lot to overcome and the more you keep waiting on them the more they fail you. This is a really good Washington team with familiarity of the 49ers from coaching down to the players. The 49ers as a dog in their division is one thing. But as a favorite outside of their division with a makeshift offense? You’re kinda shooting yourself in the foot. Think about it.

BTW, not sure if Smith playing for Harbaugh’s Niners means anything in this context. He knows as much about this current Niner team/system as I know about quantum physics. And Shanahan knows way more about Rivers than Rivers about him. When he was OC at Atlanta they were 3-1 against Rivers. I think you need to go back and take a much closer look at Washington’s victories over the Cowboys and Steelers (and all the things that had to go their way, from) before you make your decision.

9ers are 3 point favorites because Washington travels there and they have identical records. Neutral field or not it’s considered a home game for them and a travel situation for Washington.

Its more of a lack of respect for wash, people are thinking steelers were overrated, because they lost to wash. no credit for wash. Now most are picking the bills over the steelers partially because they think the steelers got exposed vs a bad wash team.
Monday afternoon before wash/pitt I got wash +4.5 early cause I had wash winning su vs pitt. Line adjusted to -3 after 49ers lost and wash won.

C’mon man. I did watch those games. Dallas game has nothing to do with this. They got smoked anyway. Going from Allen to Smith was better for Washington however he’s only a few games in and winning. I watched the entire Steelers game. The calls by refs were good and the defense made it happen. Steelers had no answer for Logan. WFT had Rothlesburger under pressure second half. I understand their offense has woes but they are getting possible reinforcements back for this game while the 49ers are in the same scenario they’ve been in half the season. The defense of Washington is solid. I’m sure they are working on nothing but an offensive plan to score points and beat the 49ers.
GL anyway

"On the surface, it appears that Washington is on an upward trajectory, having won three straight, and that the Niners on a downward trajectory, having lost 4 out of the last 5. And yet, Vegas still has them as a 3.5 point favorite on a neutral field! Why? Looking more closely at Washington’s wins tell us a different story than the results. They beat a two win Bungles team only after their rookie of the year candidate, Joe Burrow, went down to an injury. Next they beat the hapless, 3 win Cowboys, who we saw tonight, a team that, at the moment, probably doesn’t belong in the NFL, on Thanksgiving. And finally they beat an undefeated Steelers team that is 1) not as good as their undefeated record suggests and 2) that they caught in the perfect spot; a sandwich game that came just 5 days after they beat their bitter division rivals, the Ravens, and 6 days before their matchup with another AFC powerhouse in the Bills. And this to say nothing of the roller coaster ride the Steelers had been through the past two weeks in battling Covid, the schedule makers, and the mental/emotional fatigue that came with the chaos."
Never underestimate a team who believe in themselves, have stability (for the moment) at the QB position, and come into a game as the underdog.

Solid, well-thought out arguments, but Washington has won me a ton of money lately. Now that Alex Smith is getting a little protection, he's performing at a high level. And Washington's defense is no joke. I'm also on the best sports gambling streak of my life (I'm 46), and simply can't lose right now. (Knock on wood) I'm on Washington.

You guys should be hammering Washington since according to you they are the superior team by far and getting 3 points!! They have advantages across the board on offense and defense but the oddsmakers have totally fallen sleep on this one an installed the putrid Niners as 3 point favorites on a neutral field! What a bunch of morons they are. Add to all this the momentum Washington has and the feel good story of Alex Smith and how even the league would love nothing better than to see him and Rivera win and this should be a 10 unit play on the Washington ML. Who needs the points in this spot. This is the wrong team is favored scenario!!!

BB, looking at line history, SF actually opened -4 and -4.5. At one book -4 went to -4.5 then back. So you are wrong, they weren't "installed 3 point favs", money has since moved them down. But you knew that.
How about this for a line...In the summer in July, the line was SF -14. EVERYONE knows about the injuries, record, and current state of the Niners. But an 11 point swing is just that, 11 points of value. What has the WFT done besides beat an undefeated team in a piss poor horrible spot last week? Pitt hasn't had a true bye week yet. They were up 14-3 at halftime(shoulda been 14-0 without Alex Smith's brilliant tactics), and in the 2nd half it was evident that Pitt got tired. Washington backers are literally going off of one half of football thinking they are on fire.
Minus Pitt, Washington's other wins(4) are vs teams with a combined 8-16-2 record on the year. Beating Dallas twice, and vs Cinci where Joe Burrow went down in the 3rd quarter. The 4th win was vs Philly week 1. The average SRS of those 3 teams is -6.43. San Fran's is +1.40 in a hell of a tougher division.
Like I said before, I'm not playing this game. Just my 2 cents.
