"See: Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms, Randall Cunningham, Bobby Hebert, Bernie Kosar, etc, etc,
Now compare them to: Tavarias Jackson, Mark Sanchez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Moore, Matt Cassell,Rex Grossmann,Kyle Orton,Tebow "
How about a small sample of these "quality" starting qbs from around 20 yrs ago that you failed to mention:
Tom Tupa (PHO), John Friesz (SD), Rodney Peete (DET), Hugh Millen (NE), Todd Marinovich (OAK), Steve Walsh (NO), Billy Joe Tolliver ( ATL) , Mike Tomczak (CHI), etc.

Go back 20 years and list the starters/backup QB's and do the same w/ 2011.
Yesterday's backups and 2nd tier QB's would be all starts today.
See: Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms, Randall Cunningham, Bobby Hebert, Bernie Kosar, etc, etc,

Who would you prefer from list 2?
It's a sad joke quite frankly.
Dont confuse the sport of football with the pedigree of the league. Its not the same. Unless of course, you are 21, live with your parents, and think that you know it all because youve watched every superbowl since 2000.
Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms, and Cunningham were all pretty good qb's in their day. I think you are comparing apples to oranges, because as the years have progressed so has training and conditioning. Those other qb's you mentioned would be on the same level(relaitively speaking) as the one's in the second list. And I've been a fan of football since Ken Anderson was the starter for Cincy.

no no no. bradshaw is like montana----they were surrounded by hall of famers. No way, BRADSHAW'S defense clearly won his first 2 He clearly won the second 2. MONTANA had a good defense , but was a more consistent Q.B. in his 4. I HAVE BRADSHAW in the second tier with STAUBACH, MARINO,, FOUTS.
montana had rice and the other guy(really good),,,,,brady got welker and questionable defense.
brady may be greatest of all time!

I believe the best way to determine the best is to ask yourself: if we got 1:30, no TO's and are down by 6 who do you want? For me it is Montana without a doubt.
+1

I'd prob take Peete, Tolliver and Tommczak over any of them.
Back then there were 10+ hall of famers vs. the 2-4 today.
There is a difference. That's all I am saying. The golden years of the NFL are gone, but it doesnt matter because as the fans get younger (and its the same with music) they are introduced to an inferior product.

That's my point. They were pretty good. and by todays standards, they'd be annual pro bowlers, and HOF talk. I didnt mention Montana, Kelly, Marino, Elway, Aikman for a reason. They are all time gold.
