Really? The Texans are 2.5 favorites over Peyton? Game was a pickem a few months back. Are people expecting Colts to start slow? They lost last year to Texans opening day and in 2008 when Peyton didn't practice with the team until a week before the regular season opener and they started 3-4.
2008 was a little different as it dealt with his knee. Yes, there was the lockout, but Peyton got in a lot of time this off-season with his WR's and o-line before he had neck surgery.
I think he will be just fine to start the season. Like always, the Texans are over-rated IMO. If they are going to make the playoffs, they need to get rid of Gary Kubiak. Wade may help their D, but I think Foster will have trouble running the ball without Leach guiding him through the holes.
Anyone else have an opinion?

Peyton being put on the PUP list is the reason why its up to 2.5 pts, Texans backers jumping on this spread if Manning is a no go(highly unlikely) in week1 plus the Colts have struggled the last 2 season openers

But when this line was released in May, the oddsmakers knew that Peyton wasn't going to be playing much of training camp.

Really? They have won 16/18 meetings with the Texans. Is that how you define having problems?
Bud, I have watched my fair share of Colts games I can tell you that the majority of their games come down to the last few minutes. I advise you to look at the final scores. And no, I don't care what the happened nearly 10 years ago. Arian Foster tore up this paper thin defense last season and there's no reason why he shouldn't again. Manning is in the media bitching about how the lockout is fucking with his rehab. The Colts look worst off this year than any other I can think of in recent memory.

Yes I agree, they do come down to the last minute. And if I remember correctly, Peyton Manning is about to become the all-time leader in 4th quarter comebacks? Also, not sure how you can say they look worse this year than any other year in recent memory. If you know the Colts, then you know they don't sign free agents. The offensive line play can't be any worse than it has been. Not sure if you forgot this, but Peyton was practicing with his WR and o-line before his neck surgery. He was holding the practices himself getting in sync with everyone. Also, Arian Foster had the best FB in the league and now he won't be there to open up those holes. Also, the Colts added 2 DT's (Nevis and Jamaal Anderson) to help out their running woes. I'm not so sure you do follow the Colts

Arian Foster is the most overrated RB in the league...everyone knew he was going to break out last year and now that he has, he will regress to the mean of expected performance. Not taking anything away from him, but any arguments about "tearing up the Colts D" won't suffice this year. The Colts are looking better on run defense than they have in years. Peyton will be just fine. I agree with siegel on the FB difference now for Houston.
siegel and npearl watching every game > TheBallDontLie's "fair share"

The last Colts game I did not watch was November 12th 2006. Before that, it was when Jim Harbaugh was QB

Im from Houston. Not a die-hard Texans fan, but i think w/ the addition of Wade Phillips on defense, Manning, and Joseph they are primed for a playoff run.

you are right, with Bum Phillips primed to screw up another team, Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai are primed for a playoff run

The Texans improved during the offseason while the Colts did not.
Indianapolis is an old team on the way down. Peyton is 35 and after his 2nd neck surgery he may regress this year (he will soon). The defense started to fall off two years ago and that trend continued last year. Brackett is a good player but has suffered a lot of injuries and just isn't the same player he was 5-6 years ago. Mathis and Freeney are both over 30 and there is nowhere to go but down in their careers. This defense didn't improve at all and may have gotten worse.
The Texans were awful on defense last year but took major steps to improve and they should as there is nowhere to go but up.
People say Kubiak is an idiot but he may look good this year with a decent defense. For my money Jim Caldwell is one of the worst coaches in the league.

So, how many teams has 'Bum' actually screwed up as a DC? Very interested to find out since from my view he's done nothing but improve Defenses, most recently the Chargers. If you factor is an all-D Draft '11 + Joseph and Manning - and this team looks a lot like the NO Saints prior to the 2009 season.
Colts run of dominance in this division is over.

Yes, but Indy is 1/32 teams who really doesn't need a coach, because they have the most intelligent QB to ever play the game on the field. Yes, Caldwell made some poor choices on timeouts that may or may not have cost them the Jets playoff game, but this team healthy is going to surprise a lot of the nay-sayers who think father time has hit Peyton. The colts definitely play better with their backs at the wall, and every off-season I hear this same shit about the Colts. About how old the team is getting and their lack of free agent signings, but then the season starts and they win their division pretty much every year.
