I can't figure out all the hype for Maye. I'll admit I've only seen him 3-4 times but I never got much "WOW" factor from his performances. Maybe some of you ACC guys can enlighten me........is he more Josh Allen or Mitch Trubisky?

That is what I said in an earlier post. Lets be honest the Tarhills doesn't have a great track record with QBs on the next level. I have never really been that impressed with Drake Maye. Sam Howell started over him for 2 years and apparently he isn't good enough in Washington so what someone should take a flyer on Howell's successor with a top five draft pick. WTF type of GM logic is that BS? I rather wait until the second round or later and take a flyer on someone like Penix, Rattler or Hartman. Just my two cents. BOL!

@jesron1269
It must be one of those "he has tremendous upside" things that scouts love to parrot.
@Rush51
I'd almost put the injury issue to bed with him.......almost......after two complete seasons with Washington. He's the wildcard in this draft. I could see him going anywhere from top 10 to late 2nd round.

Penix should go early 2nd or someone trades up it 1st to get the 5th year option...like his pocket presence and how he looks to extend with his arm
His age is the one negative...he will be 28 or 29 at the end of his rookie deal (depending if he goes round 1)
For context jalen hurts has been in the league 4 years and will be 25 next season

burrow turned 24 during his rookie season penix will start his rookie season being 24 dont see much difference and to me it's a plus he should be more mature and ready to go than your average rookie to handle the nfl life both on and off the field

I am a Giants fan so this is what I think: 1) We need to replace Daniel Jones. 2) We have too many roster needs to trade up. 3) Lots of teams need a QB, so a trade down to mid first round may leave our GM with his dick swinging in the wind.
Rich Eisen reported that the Giants appear to be done with Jones without citing a Giants source, so I think Joe Schoen has called around about a trade up and that's how word leaked out. I suspect this is a smokescreen, our team has too many needs to part with precious draft capital.
Sources in the media known to be friendly to the Giants (NY Post, Big Blue View, etc.) have reported a serious interest in JJ McCarthy. This strikes me as a smokescreen, as well. A bullshit leak to the palace guard.
Everybody expects Williams, Daniels, Maye to be gone 1, 2, 3 though not necessarily that exact order.
So I feel the Giants are probably going to take McCarthy, Penix, or Nix.
Scratch McCarthy for the above reason.
Scratch Penix based on injury history and the fact that a lefty QB would get killed turning his back to Evan Neal, our current RT who isn't working out.
It's either Nix at Six or an attempt to trade down to 12 or 13 and get Nix at a better price. For the record, I haven't seen a second's worth of tape on any of these guys and wouldn't know what to look for if I did.

@THEMUGG
Thats partially it
The other part is he was way older/experienced than his college opponents and therefore should look good/be better than average/dominate
Age can be a big factor in the draft...but yes, QB age maybe not quite as important

@iConsciousness What do you think of Drake Maye? I don't get the hype. Is he really that much better than Sam Howell who the Commanders are apparently looking to replace?
I like Drake Maye. He's been practicing/training with Philip Rivers, which is a great brain to pick as Rivers could pick apart defenses; not to mention call out what the defense was doing pre-snap.

@iConsciousness One of mccarthy/nix/penix going top 15...potentially 2 imo You guys are in a wicked spot at 5, let the board come to u...all the action will be at 1-3 and maybe 4 but I'm guessing cards take Harrison Jr at 4 I'm hoping for a few potential players for the eagles at 22
It seems like, as of now and since the time you've posted, McCarthy is the one that could go Top 5. The Giants have invited them over for a dinner with the front office and a tour of the facilities, so there's some serious interest on their part. (Do teams do all that just to bluff?)
For me, I'd love it if the Chargers stay put IF Marvin Harrison falls to them at 5. I think the only way that happens is if the Cardinals trade their pick. I'll "settle" for Nabers, which I know most people would think is blasphemous to say, only because I've read that he can be a little demanding of the ball. Nothing that would checkmark character concerns, but...give me the best all-around receiver who'd be the perfect clean slate replacement for a team that lost both Keenan and Mike Williams in the same off-season.
If MHJ isn't there, but there's a trade down offer, that's my next preference.
I didn't know you were an Eagles fan. I feel like there's not much to worry about with Roseman at the helm. He always seems to know what his team needs are and addresses appropriately. I'm actually kind of wondering if there's a draft day trade scenario he'll be involved in.

Would take Marvin Harrison Jr over JJ Mc for sure! Chargers needed help in their secondary or was it their line? One of those two units were ranked 30TH but yes, having Allen all of a sudden wonky requires help for Herbert who is hands down way better than McCarthy could become (I have to be careful because lots said similar things I bet in threads when another Wolverine QB was drafted - much lower albeit)
The Chargers need help at CB, IDL, RB, and most importantly WR right now. Oh, and how could I forget LB. Probably their top 1-2 as far as needs go.
The practical move would be to just trade down from their coveted 5th overall pick. You could get two Day 1 starters instead of one. But when a player with the word "generational" gets tossed around as to describe them as, it's hard to pass up on MHJ if he's there. I, for one, would not.

I tried to edit the not really close since some wouldnt know what I mean, no more editing I guess. Anyway I'd take Thomas the other lsu wr before I took Harrison.
