Then HC Eberflus announced yesterday that none of his starters will play, and the line moved to Hou -1'.
That's a 3 pt swing because a coach said he won't play his starters.
BUT . . . who will Houston play?
This morning HC Ryans declined to answer if he'll play his starters or not. If he doesn't, then everyone who bet based on Eberflus's announcement jumped the gun.
It's a Hall of Fame game. HC's have 2 more preseason games to get starters a little work (the third game doesn't count, starters usually sit to avoid risk of injury.) Hall of Fame game HC's usually only play starters for 1-2 series, IF that much. In the second half both teams play their benches to evaluate who's going to make the roster.
So if bettors jumped on Houston (full game bet) after Eberflus announced he's not playing his starters, they should have also taken Hou 1st Q (or half) because the early part of the game is where you might see an edge due to Houston playing starters vs Chicago backups. The second half will be all backups, both sides.
Time will tell if that's right or wrong, based on who Houston starts, but for right now it's just my opinion that the first quarter bet is where the edge, if any, can be found.

I have an opinion.
The line opened Chi -2'.
It dropped to Chi -1'.

I have noticed if 1 team says no starters then other follows suit even if they were planning to play them for a while or at the very least the starters will be thinned out and the original non thinned out starters will play like 1 series. Sportsmanship is a huge part of the preseason as far coaches pregame dec. unlike the cut throat reg. + playoff season that most coaches would agree to a take year or more off the end of their lives to win esp. in the playoffs. No coach in the preseason wants to show up the other after 1 announces he is kinda taking a knee before the game even starts.

I bet a lot of NFL for the past many years. Preseason football never gets my $$$. I am a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder for the past 30 some years. I have only been to 1 preseason game in that time. The 1st game at Heinz Field. Check out our seats and walked around the stadium the whole game. I hate preseason with a passion.

No one read this post. If you have to get your fix, good luck.
About the starters not playing thing...so what if one team doesn't play them at all. And the other team does just for one series. It doesn't mean anything at all. Maybe you get at 7-0 lead, but will that carry you the entire game?
Now if you are privy to BOTH teams backups, 3rd stringers and beyond, and are in tune with their schemes, maybe, just maybe you could find value in the game. But that's highly doubtful.
Last but not least, Bears Down

I think there is a chance it rains also, not positive but I don't think its a natural grass field so the field won't get sloppy and muddy. For whatever that's worth.
