Vegas is baiting you Seahawk backers. Stay away from this game Seahawkers.
The very deceptive false trap baby. Typical Joe Publics gonna think, Seahags blow, no way they cover 10.5 against the Cinderella champs. Wrong! However vegas doing a good job of tricking people with 70-80% of the money going on Saints.
kcobra don't worry your team will win but don't be a homer and take the Hawks and the points.

Actually, Vegas has whipped out the Reverse Trap, where they get enough Joe Publics leaning the wrong way thinking that the squares are laying it when in fact the squares are the ones suckered into taking the big number. Oh, that tricky, tricky Las Vegas!

The public was excited about the prospect of betting on the Saints against the Seahawks........but then the line came out, and that excitement was mostly dashed. The betting public (myself included) was uniformly taken aback by this large-looking line. We've never seen such a huge line for a road team in NFL playoff history. As a result, your 70-80% consensus guess is way off, TicTac Bucinski. From what I'm reading, less than half of the people that are taking sides here are willing to lay 10 or 10.5 points. Lots of people like the Saints, yes, but many of them are scared of the pointspread and are instead looking to tease this line down to something they can live with.

Read what you wrote again, TicTac, and see how assbackwards and nonsensical you sound. We've got a 12-4 team playing a pathetic 7-9 team that lost all 9 of its games by more than two touchdowns, and you think the oddsmakers set out to trick people into betting on the 12-4 team? Do you see how stupid that sounds? The oddsmakers' task was to SLOW PEOPLE DOWN from betting on the 12-4 defending Super Bowl champions and get some action on the unworthy 7-9 piece of shit. And they've done their job, making this line the biggest road favorite line we've ever seen in the playoffs BY FAR, and thus getting enough people to back down on laying the 10.5 and also getting enough people to bite on the +10.5.

Bator love your input on games and you are the #1 guy I look for when I go on this site. But I must say that I'm puzzled on how confident you are with laying 11 points to a road team that plays in a dome and now has to go into one of the toughest places to play in the NFL (regardless on how bad they are). And with the Saints missing there top 2 RB and if they need a tough 1-2 yards on 3rd dowon with the likes of Julius Jones and Reggie Bush? We all know Reggie is not a 15-20 carry guy and Julius Jones is well, Julius Jones? Reggie in this weather is good for at least 1 fumble in his game with the expected weather. Also are you worried about Colston coming off surgery and Jimmy Graham not 100%?
BTW Saints were 11-5 this year

Are you sure about this? I got my info from the logans trend stuff here on covers showing 76% on the Saints ATS, https://www.covers.com/pageloader/pageLoader.aspx?page=/data/nfl/matchups/g1_summary_1.html. I've heard those numbers might be off so I'd be interested in were your getting your info since I'd like to see it for this game and other ones. I also seem to recall someone posting a link to a site that also showed 70-80% of the money on the Saints ATS.

BTW the topic title is just a way of busting everyone that always has this kind of heading and obviously this is not a game of the century. But I'am very, very confident in the Hawks this Saturday

I'm not completely in love with the play but I'm sure not interested in the Seahawks. If this line were -11, I'd be even less enthused, but now it's widely available at -10, and I'd be willing to lay that and not even be nervous about it.
Bastard, ya got me on the 11-5.

Yes, it is, and it's bound to grow even more confusing on Sunday night when Vegas unveils their new "Hit You in the Back Just When You Think You Got Us Sacked Trap" in anticipation of the Patriots first playoff game next weekend. I got the lowdown on this one already but I'm supposed to keep quiet about it. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned it at all. My bad.

Look right in the middle of the page of that link and see "Covers NFL Contest Details." New Orleans is currently 59.25%. That's what I go by.
Ok but I and probably most people are not interested in what the covers.com public thinks and are more interested in what the general public thinks. If you go to vegas insider you'll also see that the public is putting close to 80% of it's money on the Saints ATS.

Who gives a crap what the general public thinks???? They aren't the one's putting cash down on the game and thus the Pirates of the Caribbean could give two shits what they think.

That's the same as me saying 2 months ago I think / want Harry Reid to lose his re-election bid for Senator but as a non-NV resident I have zero direct say / control in that outcome.

The problem with this argument is......that all of those things are true! They are undeniably true!!!
Mr. Bator---I have always respected your opinion and your comments will make me re-look at this game---perhaps I have tunnel vision due to the line of plus 101/2.
and sometimes the best bet made is the one that is not made.
But, one question---I have a hard time believing that you advocate laying the 101/2??
appreciate your comments.
thanks
