I miss Peyton Manning!!!

No person, pause. anyway I never took this guy for granted but jesus I dunno if we realized what we witnessed the past decade plus. Veins pumping ice!!!!!!!

     No offense but I don't miss him at all.  I think he would have a good year more than likely, but the same scenario would have played out:  Brady, Brees, and Rodgers have a better year, but Manning walks away with the MVP because his name is Manning.  And then he's named first team All-Pro in front of all of them, and he gets the start in the Pro-Bowl, also undeserved.  And then he loses in the first round of the playoffs because of the three pics he throws.

Manning deserves the MVP even though he didn't play - if he's not the most valuable player in the league then I don't know who is considering how Indy did without him.

to say you dont miss Manning based on awards is pure ignorance..being able to watch a player like him does not come often as a football fan I miss watching this guy too.

I beg to differ.  I don't think it's ignorant at all because I think there are plenty of players of there that are better and even more fun to watch.  And they don't point their fingers at their teammates when things don't go as planned.  The league is no worse off without him, and he is not bigger than the game.  It will be just fine without him. 

I just don't miss him, and I've been watching this game for 35 years.  It's not too often that I see a QB fall down on purpose because there is a D lineman about five feet away from him.  Well, I've never seen it until I watched Manning.  The media hypes him up as God and I'm just tired of it.  His postseason performances are horrible, and he's a choke artist.  Just my opinion.

That makes as much sense as if I were to say that Jamaal Charles should be the MVP.  Look at how the Chiefs did last year with him when he set an NFL record for ypc.  They went 10-6 and this year without him they might go 6-10.  He has 499 career attempts and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry.  This is nothing short of phenominal.  I think he should be the MVP.

SteelCash i dunno man the guy is in the top 5 for sure and top 3 imo for top qbz in the league. i love watching the surgeon as a fan of the game. if you don't like e'm for whatever reason, that's your opinion. i think he's one of the best. can't think of too many guy's that run a 4th qr 2 min offence better than him.

     I respect your opinion, and I know he's really good, but I would still rather have Brady, Brees, Rodgers, or Roethlisberger in a two minute drill with a playoff win on the line.  I know many people disagree, but that's just me.  It's a good debate though.  I just really don't have faith in him in the postseason based on past results.

I sure don't miss him since I am a Texans fan!!! Seriously though, I have always hated that he was in the same division as the texans because he is one of the best.

With you OP, dude is fun to watch, classy and good for the game IMO.

Hope he makes it back with a few more good years.

Rodgers Brees and Brady  are in the same class too, definitely no bums in that group. Big Rape is good too but I would not say as good as the others.

I don't know what your problem is but kinda weird that you have been "watching football for 35 years" and are that misinformed or delusional.

 

The Chiefs weren't eliminated from the playoffs until late in the season - the Colts didn't even win a game until week 15. To say that each player has the same value to their team is ridiculous. When a team is a perenial playoff team and superbowl contender with a player and the worst team in the league without him, he is the most valuable to his team.

 

Then you need to do more reading. NFL Magazine even wrote an article about it naming Peyton MVP. Feel free to disagree, but to say that the notion is stupid is ignorant on your part.

When was the last time Manning threw three INTs and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs?

1-16-2000... Tennessee (13-3) beats Indy (13-3) 19-16 in the divisional playoff round.  Peyton goes 19 for 42 (ouch) for 227 yds... zero TD's, zero picks for a QB rating of 62.3.  Colts score one touchdown.  Stellar!

12-30-2000...  Miami (11-5) beats Indy (10-6) 23-17 in the wildcard round.  Peyton goes 17 for 32 (ouch) for 194 yds... one TD, zero picks for a QB rating of 82.0.  Colts score one TD.  Stellar!

1-4-2003...  The NY Jets (9-7) beat Indy (10-6) 41-0 in the wildcard playoff round.  Peyton goes 14-31 for 137 yds... zero TD's and two picks for a QB rating of 31.25 (ouch).  Another stellar performance!

1-18-2004... New England (14-2) beats Indy (12-4) 24-14 in the conference championship.  Peyton Manning goes 23 for 47 for 237 yds... one TD and four picks (ouch) for a QB rating of 35.51 (ouch).  Outstanding!

1-16-2005... New England (14-2) beats Indy (12-4) 20-3 in the divisional round.  Peyton goes 27 for 42 for 238 yds... zero TD and one pick for a rating of 69.35 (ouch).  Legendary!

1-15-2006... Pittsburgh (11-5) beats Indy (14-2) 21-18 in the divisional round.  Peyton goes 22 for 38 and 290 yds... one TD and zero picks for a QB rating of  90.9.  Little something extra for this one.  You may remember the pick that Manning threw to Polamalu late in the 4th qtr.  It was called a pick, then reversed.  Later, the head of officiating Mike Pereira said it was indeed an interception and that they shouldn't have reversed it.  That more than likely would have ended the game with an 11 pt lead and 5:26 remaining.  Also, Manning and the Colts netted a total of 25 yards in the first 19 minutes of the game.  Not good.  Overall though, a good performance with good numbers in a losing effort.

2-4-2007...  Indy (12-4) beats Chicago (13-3) 29-17 in SB XLI 29-17.  Peyton goes 25 for 38 and 247 yds... one TD and one pick for a QB rating of 81.8.  It's also interesting to note that in the four postseason games in January, he threw three TD's and seven INT's (are you kidding me?).  Bottom line however, he's a Super Bowl Champ.

1-13-2008... San Diego (11-5) beats Indy (13-3) 28-24 in the divisional round.  Peyton goes 33 for 48 and 402 yds... three TD's and two picks for a QB rating of 97.74.  Good numbers in general but the picks really hurt his team in a huge way.

1-3-2009... San Diego (8-8) beats Indy (12-4) 23-17 in the wildcard round.  Peyton goes 25 for 42 and 310 yds... one TD and zero picks for a QB rating of 90.38.  Good numbers.  He did his job.  Still a loss.

2-7-2010... New Orleans (13-3) beats Indy (14-2) 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.  Peyton goes 31 for 45 and 333 yds... one TD and one pick for a QB rating of 88.47.  That pick (returned for a TD) came late in the game and essentially ended any hopes of his team winning this one.  And the truth is, Reggie Wayne did absolutely nothing wrong on that play.  He ran five yards and turned around.  That's all he did.  He ran his route correctly (they run this play all the time... Manning and Wayne both know what they are supposed to do).  I've watched the play over a dozen times.  By the time he turned around, the ball was there and thrown too far to the inside.  Meanwhile, Austin Collie was running across the middle wide open.  But Peyton didn't see him because HE WAS STARING DOWN REGGIE WAYNE THE ENTIRE TIME.  Peyton played well, but made a HUGE mistake at the end that put an abrupt halt to his team having any chance of winning.  Super Bowl loss.

Like I said... he's a choke artist.
