He must be, because for the second year in a row, he didn't put up the best numbers, and he still walked away with all the rewards. First team All-Pro, first team Pro-Bowl, and MVP.

What does Brees have to do? I know Manning is good. Hell he's great. First round ballot for sure even he retired now. But there are other good QB's in the league, and some are putting up better numbers. Why is everyone is this "Manning is Christ" coma?
And before I get comments like "the Colts couldn't run the ball so it was more difficult for Manning", keep in mind that results should win awards. Not excuses. If we can make excuses, then let's give the award to Flacco. Look what he has to work with (nothing), and he took his team to the playoffs. If we make excuses like this, where does it end? The award should go to the player that had the most impressive year. Manning did not. Yet he had a banner year with awards. Why?
The seven come from wins should not have any bearing either. Brees went 13-2 as a starter. Winning is not more impressive if you fall behind first. In the loss to Tampa, Brees went 32 of 37 and threw no picks. Besides, wins shouldn't even play a role in the All-Pro and Pro-Bowl voting. It doesn't for RB's, WR's, and everyone else. It shouldn't for QB's. It's a team sport. If a guy throws for 4500 yds, 36 TD's, and 14 int's and goes 9-7 and his numbers dwarf all other QB's, he should get 1st team All-Pro and Pro-Bowl. My point: Wins really do not matter. Or atleast they shouldn't.
Brees did lose 6 fumbles and Manning 0. But Brees did post better numbers. Favre had a better year and threw 11 less int's. To be fair, he averaged about 19 less yds passing per game than Manning. Favre didn't get one All-Pro vote and had, arguably, the best season of any QB this year. Manning got 36.5 votes.
Let's look at 2008...
Comp% Yds Yds/Att TD Int Rating
Rivers 65.3 4009 8.4 34 11 105.5
Brees 65.0 5069 8.0 34 17 96.2
Manning 66.8 4002 7.2 27 12 95.0
Rivers had a phenominal year and in all areas was better than Manning. Rivers didn't even go to the Pro Bowl as an alternate! Brees nearly broke the all time record for passing yds in a season. The All-Pro voting results?
Manning 28 votes, Brees 10, Rivers 9, Pennington 2, Warner 1.
Manning also received the MVP vote. The voting went as follows...
Peyton Manning: 32
Chad Pennington: 4
Michael Turner: 4
Philip Rivers: 2
Chris Johnson: 1
Kurt Warner: 1
You see a trend here? I can understand Manning winning some of the awards, but all of them? All the time? By landslides? And all the while not putting up better numbers than everyone else? Am I in the Twilight Zone here?
I know the guy makes funny commercials, but isn't it time that these other guys get some recognition for posting better numbers than "the greatest person to ever walk the earth." Because I'm beginning to think that's what everyone believes he is. Christ himself.
