Is Trey Lance the 49ers future?

It's crazy to think that they are one of the best teams in football right now, and that their QB at the moment is 3rd string rookie Brock Purdy.

I'm just thinking way ahead here, for what's down the road for the Niners.

Remember they gave up 3 1st rd picks for Trey Lance, 2021, 2022 and 2023 to the Dolphins. 

Then this year they trade away their 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks in 2023, and a 4th rd pick in 2024 to the Panthers for McCaffrey. 

They are kind of all in for right now. Any more key injuries moving forward, and they'll find it hard to replace their talent in the next couple years.

If Trey Lance ends up being a bust, this team could regress to Rams status fairly quickly.

 Miners aren’t built like the rams… they have been playing several guys off the streets such as lenoir and there defense is so loaded they are stepping and dominating like every other position on defense… best corner is on IR .. starting safety has missed most of the year .. greenlaw has missed considerable time.. armstead has missed whole year… it’s plug and play … and they have a historically good defense .. rams defense last year was middle of the pack .. they mortgage the farm for a regressing and sometimes a liability at corner in Ramsey and Donald can only do so much with no talent around him on the d line

Trey Lance is already a bust he has looked clueless in the time he’s played and he’s wildly erratic .. and can’t read a defense .. sf will either lure a guy like Brady or Rodgers or run it back with a guy like jimmy g or purdy … they couldn’t even get anything back for lance at the trade deadline otherwise he might already be gone 

No tape on Purdy...wait until there is tape and D coordinators take away some stuff.. Way too early.....Wait until he has a bad game and how will he respond..Wait until he is down 10 points and has to respond and make a comeback and throw every down and not rely on the run game......Easy to play ahead with the talent on that team...He is a very limited QB...go read his draft profile.  Shanny system is a very QB friendly system...a lot of short passes to CMC and Deebo/Kittle.  When u lead the league in YAC...U just have to manage the game..  and then you have a top 2-3 OL and run game..backed by the #1 rated defense.....

 The Dolphins fleeced the Niners with those draft pick trades.

Purdy just won 1 game.. plus the niners gave up too much to draft Lance 

If Purdy becomes Tom Brady then it doesn't matter..

They rushed Lance in instead of having him sit for a season..this whole league wants NFL ready QBs but not every QB in the draft is built the same in my opinion some need more time to develop the mental skill and NFL speed reading defenses with film study.. I’ll just say.. Lance did not look good entering but he hasn’t had a whole season things change in a season.. Jimmy Garoppolo might be done with San Francisco he just can’t stay healthy and I think that is the main reason they drafted Lance.. I think he still gets his chance since he hasn’t played at all season wise.. but he definitely doesn’t look good right now at this point in time..

Brock Purdy looks like he read defenses pretty well and is quick thinking decisive when defenses are aggressive.. he doesn’t have a big arm but I don’t think you need a big arm in a shanahan scheme.. they may have tape on him throughout the season but he is mobile enough which is what you need in this mobile qb League.. it seems like the pocket passing QB is a thing of the past for now because of the lack of talent coming out in the draft as far as offensive lines go but everything becomes a throwback eventually.. I’m sure once offensive line talent starts coming out again copy cat league will revert back to pocket passers dominating.. obviously not all teams

i guess with Brock Purdy you have to ask yourself what kind of defenses did he face at Iowa St which helped build his skill of reading defenses.. some players fold under pressure and some players play better.. he had 4 years under his belt right? That says a lot and it shows.. he seems fearless of the moment from what I have seen but only time can tell.. I guess we’ll all see what happens going forward.. with even more pressure.. I am curious to see how he does on the road versus a divisional team with its back against the wall.. and or better defenses..playoffs as well

 It will be interesting to see how he can handle himself in Seattle, and the crowd noise that goes with it. False starts, delay of games are always higher there for visitors. Seattle's defense may be porous but the crowd will cause problems for most any rookie QB making their 1st road start. And the Niners are a meager 2-8-1 ATS last 11 games in Seattle. Little different than playing at home

I remember a former poster here all about the Bills mafia invading Miami's stadium. I kept telling him that the Dolphins home field advantage is due to the heat n humidity.

The fans didn't matter, Dolphins won outright as 4.5 dogs.

In 6 games(5 starts) Brock Purdy has 13 td's and 3 pics. 68.32 comp %.

He's averaging 8.6 air yards per attempt. Only 2 Qb's average more, and that's Tua(9.2) and Taysom Hill(14.7), with Hill throwing very little and mostly on gimmick plays.

The luck to have such a guy is insane after losing Jimmy G for the season. And we might have to say that the first injury to Lance was a blessing in disguise. But who knows how well Lance might of done to this point if he never got hurt.
