it's time to say it... i think Rex Ryan was right!

the Jets should be favored to win the Super Bowl... they fit the blueprint... i used to not buy into that shit, but i can't deny it anymore... if you are the team with the best defense and the best running game, you are the favorite to win the Super Bowl...

think back to that first Ravens Super Bowl win against the Giants... who was in love with Trent Dilfer?  who picked them to even win a playoff game, let alone get to the Super Bowl?  since then, those types of teams are regular residents at the big game...

Jets are that team this year... i have looked at every team in the NFL, and i don't think there is a single one that really matches up with the Jets... with the only possible exceptions being Baltimore and Minnesota...

but i would take the Jets against the Ravens in a home game, and the Jets against the Vikes on a neutral field... particularly since they will be getting points...

laugh all you want, but they'll beat San Diego this week, and then the rest of the league had better start taking notice...

i assure you the Colts don't want to play them (even though Cincy apparently did)... the Colts weren't exactly dominating the Jets in the 3rd quarter when they pulled their starters... they had taken the lead and were giving the ball back to New York... it was anybody's game... in Indy...

oh... i forgot... the main point in making this thread is i foresee a New Orleans - New York Jets Super Bowl... and i am drooling!

Jets played well against the Bengals but Bengals kind of gave it away also.  Dropped passes, missed field goals on offense.  Letting Jets have wide open receivers- a rb could have thrown a td to those receivers.   Jets had about 3 big plays for tds- how often does that happen?   Then Bengals can't even kick a FG.

i don't give a rats ass about the Bengals... i knew they were shitty going into that game... i'm not basing my picks going forward on that game, and i never based my pick on the Jets last week on the game in week 17... it is based on breaking down what they have done this year, which is much more impressive than people realize... particularly when you start to see that Sanchez is playing better than in their midseason slump...

How did he play in the game that mattered the most on Saturday?  The regular season has nothing to do with the postseason.  Over the last month Mark Sanchez has shown growth and maturity at the positon and has been making better decisions as he is finally grasping the full offense and reading coverages a lot better.  Yeah he struggled in the mid part of the season, but no rookie is going to play perfect every game obviously.  Remember he is still a rookie, so you cant say he hasnt impressed you.  When was the last time you saw a rookie put a performance on like that in his first playoff game?  Give the guy a little credit.  The Jets have now one 6 of 7 games may I add.

my bad... i didn't watch any games that weekend, just thought they had pulled the starters right after the drive that gave them the lead...

either way, i don't think the Colts are licking their chops to play the Jets... in fact, i think they would fare better against the Chargers, even though they've had Indy's number... i think that has the Colts highly motivated for that matchup...

i agree with Gold and Ram regarding Sanchez... but the more important issue is that there is no reason Sanchez should ever be in a position to make mistakes in this game...

the Chargers D-line is very banged up, and wasn't great to begin with... this is a matchup nightmare for the Chargers defense... a physical running game with two very good running backs... they are going to shred the shit out of that defense... i seriously think the Jets have the ability to score points every time they have the ball, simply because they will always be in favorable down and distance situations...

now throw in Brad Smith and the wildcat...

i think where you can really refine that statement and find that it is consistently true is in the postseason... whether it is a bowl game, NFL playoffs, NBA playoffs or March Madness... the teams that bring the defense come out on top...

it makes me laugh that people know this, and yet they are willing to lay more than a TD on SD?  the Chargers are creampuff defensively... a creampuff that has built up bottom of the league numbers against a bottom of the league schedule... while the Jets have built the #1 defense in the league against one of the toughest schedules in the league...

You cannot be favored over Peyton Manning. He will carve that D up like a roasted Turkey on Christmas Day. Remember, the Colts D aint' that bad either.
