The one thing nobody has mentioned in this insane thread, is why??? Why would a 9 billion dollar company try to fix games so bookies and betting houses can make money off juice which they would regardless of who won.
no one said the NFL or even the NBA, NHL, MLB etc is fixing matches so that bookies can cover their games, they fix draft picks, rig referees etc to rig playoff matchups, maximize ratings, drive up brand value in bad markets and ultimately build up their brand within the avg American's conscious , the NFL/football is synonymous with Americana....
does no one ever question the fact that the New England Patriots were 70-1 Superbowl underdogs preseason in 2001 who then after one of the worst tragedies in US history in 9/11 assembled one of the most prolific Superbowl runs in history eventually defeating the heavily favored (-14) St. Louis Rams in one of the most revered games in Superbowl history and cementing the NFL's brand together with patriotic american sentiment in a great feel good story for underdogs everywhere, which helped heal some of the terrible wounds left after the 9/11 disaster
WHAT THEY DON'T tell you is that multiple times that season the Patriots benefited from favorable treatment notably in calls against defenders in the form of roughing the passer and late hit penalties on plays against Tom Brady, also what has been carefully whitewashed from the NFL's cultural image and been left mostly unreported are the multiple accounts of opposing teams accusing the Patriots of stealing signals that year, which was ultimately proved to be much more damning as it came out that the Patriots were not only stealing signals but actually surreptitiously recording opposing teams entire practices.
May just be sour grapes, but multiple players from that 2001 St Louis Rams team have been quoted along the lines of "It seemed like they knew exactly what plays we were running."
The NFL has seen it's TV contract fees increase nearly 1400% from $1.58 Billion in 1993 to the current $27 Billion deal in place in 2013, so yes obviously it would be idiotic to think they are fixing MNF so that the dog covers and Vegas can win a few million - BUT - if you think for a second they aren't doing anything & everything they can to make the NFL as a brand more valuable you don't understand a multi-billion dollar corporation's mentality, they would stoop to anything to protect a juggernaut like that

no your point was that the nfl needs to keep games close to the spread, to keep games interesting. My point is all football games are decided within a score all the way down to the lowest level of football around. I guess just because you don't win all your games, you think the whole system is rigged, yup. that must be it. How come not one player ever has come out and said they were supposed to do something on a certain play to let the other team score, etc. You would think it would be tough to keep such a big secret

Instead of proving points with events that already happened and past bets/records. It'd be much more convincing and "educational" if we just got some OBVIOUS winners for week 3. So what does the NFL have scripted for this week? How bout some futures? Can get some pretty good odds for super bowl picks and divisional winners right now...educate us with some winners and I guarantee no one will doubt you. This is a gambling forum and we want to win real money, doesn't help us to learn the script a week late...

lol seriously all that and that's your only question? mostly I'd say because "The Patriots' has a more patriotic ring to it than the "Jets" or "Giants", and I never said one thing about the NFL keeping spreads close better check your records buddy, my only claim is that the NFL would do anything in it's power to build it's brand when the stakes are this high

Wow, a company the size of the nfl wants to build its brand, say it ain't so son. I would never have thought they would want to. Yeah, the ravens won last year, because they really wanted to build up the Maryland, Virginia market. Im just wondering why they didn't pick the redskins, it would have been the better story im guessing with rg3, but I guess you know better why
The year before they really wanted to build up new York market, because we all know that market is suffering. The boston market must have been really bad considering the nfl decided to let them win 3 of 4 superbowls
Also the only people that complain about games being rigged are the people losing money.

This thread is rediculous.... If you think games are scripted your a moron..... for every game that lands .5 away from the line, there are 10 games that don't.... You just remember these .5 games more because they cost you money.... REDICULOUS!!!!!

Thanks for making part of my point, if someone knew the fix beforehand, its stupid to come in and alert the trolls to the fact. Either give the winners and prove your point, or keep letting fools bet on the wrong side. Why do you care who has a clue if you don't want to help? Talking about fixes like you're in the know, yet not displaying that knowledge, makes it looks like you're just trolling the "trolls" you speak of. Usually when I know exactly what I'm talking about, I can prove it. Or if I don't want people to know, I don't bring it up, its that simple. You made your opinion known, until someone backs up their opinions with some winners, its all conjecture. While we're arguing over fixed games, Vegas wins on vig regardless.

Because of several things:
1. Harbaugh bowl - lots of souped can be cooked by arranging this match up
2. Joe Flacco WILL NEVER GET A RING - Is what was stated by many. By giving him a ring its $$$$ right down the pocket and you can blaze it up in the media.
3. It was a now-or-never moment. If ravens didnt get it last year, they wouldnt see a super bowl ring for the next 10 years. So now they got the ring, they are happy, they dont need (and wont get) one the next 10 years so its OK. They are happy.
4. Ray Lewis is done. THE WORLDS BEST linebacker that has EVER played in the NFL finishes his career with a super bowl ring, can it be more beautiful than that? So when in 30-40 years when some random Vikings fan arguing with a dumb Cowgirls fan they can say "Ah, Pathankson is the best Linebacker ive seen" - "haha good one kid you obv havent seen this Lewis play before, best of all time and finishes his career with a ring by being unstoppable"

For the record I'm not saying the NFL is fixed/not fixed. Games probably have been fixed in the past, and some may be fixed in the future. Point being, unless someone is willing to put some money where their mouth (keyboard) is, they should stop talking like they're "in the know" or that they have any more of a clue than anyone else here. Or else they wouldnt be on covers to begin with.

The problem is, they let a lot of games roll and in these games they are "happy" with the juice. But then they pick 2-5 games where they want the WINNER, like Ravens, Cardinals, Bucs, Chiefs this week. You cant always tell whether they want to let it slide or not, but u can tell when theres something fishy up. When you can smell a fish, theres two things u can do:
1. You can stay the hell away
OR
2. You can bet against what u found too obvious.
If you take #2 you just hope they dont let the game slide.
The problem and the reason to why its so tough to do it, is because, when i say to myself: OK, the saints line is saints -130.. Saints -130!?!?!? it should be -300!!!! Thats when u go into the mode where u just wanna throw ur house on Saints coz "its so good to be true" so how do u convince this guy to throw on the other side that he was actually liking so much? Its not possible even when u can smell the fish.

Oh I fully agree, that's why its a GAMBLE. I was specifically talking about when people come in after the game and say that it was OBVIOUS that team A would win bc of circumstance A, or the line, or whatever. Nothing is OBVIOUS until after the game, and if it is OBVIOUS before the game, people shouldn't be complaining of an easy win. Saying "of course Ravens win superbowl" after they win the super bowl is useless in a gambling sense. I don't care who is scripted to win unless I can use that info to win money. I dont care about WHY the NFL wanted the patriots to win, I just want to know who the NFL wants to win this year. No one here has insider info on fixes, or they wouldn't be on here talking about it. That's my opinion anyways...

who is naive enough to think that a billion dollar industry is not controlled? idiots! thats who....
the players dont have to be on it for it to be fixed.
the refs are the ones who control the momentum of the game. holding can be called on every play and thats just one penalty that they can call if they feel like it. pass interference can be called or not also for an automatic first down.
if anyone was blind enough to not see what happen JUST LAST YEAR with the gb vs sea game, then im sorry to say that with a mind set of the average joe will not last long in this game. and if you have a house, wife, and kids...kiss them goodbye too....

nice to see some opened minded people in this thread, what scares me is 99% of the population are sheeple just like these droolers and believe everything spoon fed to them by national media and the like, keep drinking your diet soda because its "better" for you (better for you to get diabetes with), keep feeding your kids megaprocessed additive laden foods and wonder why they are bouncing off the walls popping anti deppressants and ADD meds (go look and see how much ritalin they sell in Europe where chemical food additives and genetically modified food is banned)
this country is a corporation disguised as a democracy the sheep provide the wool for the machine which gets bigger and bigger until...?

this is a good thread for the narrow minded.....but this is almost irrelevant considering peoples emotions involved in how they bet!
who hasnt been in a situation where you lost most of your games but you still came out ahead or at the least broke even?
OR
youve hit tons of games but still either came out ahead, broke even or even came out negative?
my point is....even tho we find the fixed games or the games that are played "naturally". its our mind that that THE BIG GUYS know that we cant control. they know most of us are weak enough to let our emotions get involved when we are chasing or trying to double up on. most of us do not have the self control to stay disciplined and stick with a system. this is how we come out losers.

who hasnt been in a situation where you lost most of your games but you still came out ahead or at the least broke even?
OR
youve hit tons of games but still either came out ahead, broke even or even came out negative?
my point is....even tho we find the fixed games or the games that are played "naturally". its our mind that that THE BIG GUYS know that we cant control. they know most of us are weak enough to let our emotions get involved when we are chasing or trying to double up on. most of us do not have the self control to stay disciplined and stick with a system. this is how we come out losers.
When for instance, teams are going for better draft picks, you see teams losing games on purpose. This is rigged. This is matchfixing. But its still allowed. But the way they do this, is not by simply throwing points, handing the ball to the opposing team for free, no, its disgustingly enough by trying to hide it as much as possible, trying to hide it as much as u possible can. They are really doing the best they can to "hide" that they are losing a game on purpose. Because no1 will blame a bad player for missing shots. No1. So therefore they will get away with it. But you NEVER see them going for the win, wherever they can get away with losing they will. For example, if u have 2 teams matched up against eachother and they both would like to lose and tank games coz it will give them a better position and give them a better draft spot. Do you EVER see both of them handing the opposing team the ball, avoiding taking shots, giving the other team free throws on purpose? No. You DONT see that, and thats because its all about business. What would happen if 2 NBA teams decided that they would not take a single shot on the basket? The NBA would be dead FOREVER, their reputation would be ruined and the business would be ruined. Therefore they "act" like they are actually playing for the win and therefore they take shots and therefore they act like they are actually trying to come up with this and they acting like they are try hards. It is all set up. And then after the game they can say "Oh man, we just dont have what it takes to win ball games currently, so thats why we lost tonight. Now we gotta move forward" when the truth is that everything happened exactly like they wanted it to happen, they wanted to lose this ball game so they could get a better draft pick. Simple as that. Another great example is how Lakers all of a sudden made it into the playoffs. How many millions of dollars do you think the NBA would lose if they were not to be found in playoffs? 1.000.000$, 2.000.000$ or how much extra $ do you think they make by actually having Lakers in the playoffs with so many superstars? I have lost count on how many games the refs fixed for the Lakers, but the number is outrageous. I think the number is like 15 or 16 out of the last 20 games where the refs literally gave them 25-30 points extra in one way or another. And that was almost not enough when Lakers were so bad. But this just goes to show that refs have so much impact. Refs won almost all of Lakers wins that season, i havent seen one single Lakers game the last season where i can pinpoint that out and say: Lakers won because they played much better basketball on the night. Not a single game. People think that games are being played out "randomly" and that what happens is random, when its infact not. The games, the media, the hype and everything is much more set up than we think. Even a thing like Kobes injury is something i think is "fixed" and set up. Heres some of the benefits that follow along by "fixing" an injury. And listen, im not taking credit away from Kobes career or anything, he is an amazing and outstanding basketball player, but im just telling u now that an injury actually have some benefits, even for him. Lets look at the benefits the kobe injury gives:
1. He can take ALL the credit that Lakers got into the playoffs. Everything was thanks to him. If we at this point say Lakers lost the series to Spurs, it would just prove the fact that it was all thanks to Kobe that they even "made it this far"
2. Kobe knew, even with him they would lose easily 4-0 to Spurs. But by not showing up he will not hurt his image or "brand" by facing such a devistating loss.
3. Lakers fans and Kobe fans will in 5-6 years now look back and say "The only reason as to why we didnt win the NBA Championship this year, was because Kobe got injured. Kobe is a clutch player and he would have stepped up when it counted in playoffs and would carried them to victory" Right now, its a "mystery" whether or not Lakers could have won the NBA this year..... Trust me, people will question this, even when we all know that Lakers had ABSOLUTE 0% chance of stealing even a game from Spurs the way they played. Even with Kobe... But this injury will let it be an open question.
4. He goes back into the game, to shoot the free throws. He will get extra credit for doing it even when he is injured. Now people can say "LeBron would never have done that.... So now we can conclude that Kobe is a better player"
5. Listen, if you are SERIOUSLY injured, like injured so you wont be able to play for 1 year, there is absolute no way you can go back in and shoot those free throws. Listen, if i got shot right now, do u think i would all of a sudden raise up from the grave and throw the game winning touchdown in the super bowl? Because if thats the case, you may as well bet on Sants Claus to have delivered over/under 2.805.120 presents within the next year.
6. When Kobe gets back from injury people will be like "Omg, Kobe was knocked all the way down to the bottom of the basement. He is at the end of his career, he is injured at such a crucial time, and now he is back. How.... can.... he.... overcome such a thing? Only because he is Kobe. Only because he is the almighty amazing Kobe. Not anyone else in history would have managed to get back from this. This just goes to show that he is the best basketball player of all time. GOAT KOBE!!!"
^ This is just a few of SO many things even a little minor thing like an INJURY can do.
My point is that, even things like an injury is not 100% random.

Had to divide it into 2 posts coz it exceeded the maximum of 7800 characters, so here goes:
Now let me ask you a question. Do you think that Rose's return was completely random when that was gonna happen? Because i dont. I think it was scheduled, planned and timed. They wanted to make the "Rose return" look how much they are skimming from this. They have made VIDEOS about the Rose return they have made as much HYPE about this INJURY and return as they possibly could. Theres a reason they delayed and postponed the return this much. Its not just random. And also, lets say they had fixed Heat to win the Championship / the Conference (which i dont think they have) what would be the point for Rose to return? Why would he return only to win one series and then get his behind kicked in the following. Ofc. they have thought about this, tweaked and twerked it as much as they could to get the very most out of this.
I can guarantee u one thing 100% even without blinking: D. Rose was able to play at a completely healthy level in the Brooklyn series if he wanted to. I can say this confidently. If you can get proof by a doctor that he was NOT able to play in that series i will award you 10.000$. So now some of you may think "So why didnt he return in that series?!" because of business. Nothing else. Pure business and money. I think by waiting for the return to be against Miami could be well worth around 400-600.000$. They are skimming as much money as they can. If they dont even allow a small thing like an injury to be a random occurance, what makes u think they would ever consider allowing Lakers to slide out of the playoff picture? Maybe this year coz all they have left is Kobe, and all Kobe needs is a few more stats, so he will pound and ground a few daily points but he doesnt give a damn about another ring, he is fed up, all he needs now is to set his marks in the record books about the points thing. So this year the NBA will maybe just let the Lakers swim in their own lake, but last year with so much money on the line? No effing way. I tell you that.
