Chaloots, I understand your point but I respectfully disagree that you should NEVER buy a half. There were a couple games yesterday that if you bought a half on 3 you ended up being a winner. So again, you can get anyone one you want to come in my thread and its not going to change the way I bet. I know experts and very good gamblers that will buy halves so where you get your information is simply an opinion.
Thats fine and no direspect towards you. I wish you luck but just keep an eye out on how many times the games don't land on the number and how much extra juice is lost.Everyone remembers when the hook helped but never mention the times it doesn't come into play and all the extra money burned. GL on your plays.

Keep up the good work OWO. Your one of the few consistent cappers here that wins and posts reasons why. As for buying a half point - it is VERY necessary in the pros where the kickers have become so good in the last decade. Case in point Indy on Thursday night - bought a 1/2 and got the W. BOL but like like Brady & Belli on rest.

I understand what chaloots is saying. You never want to pay more juice than you have too. But at times I think it makes sense depending on where the number is and I don't mind paying a little extra to get a better number. Its not something you want to do on a regular basis.

That's why you're a prospect. Don't give ABSOLUTE advice like you are smarter than anyone on here. Trust me, you're not
As a matter of fact, if you look at oldwiseone's logic (and mine in many instances), it makes perfect sense. Just think about this...
Point #1: Who knows MORE than the oddsmakers?? Noone, not even G-d. If you don't agree with this, don't continue reading. If you do, point #2...
Point #2: These oddsmakers, or let's just call them what they are which are oracles, set the number at what THEY think about the game and how THEY think it will result.
Point #3: If Point #2 is true, and assuming spreads are even #'s (+3, +4, etc), then it can be said that a game is capped to "push" (hence the handicap system's DEFINITION which is to handicap teams to be EVEN).
Point #4: Buying points around a bet that WOULD have pushed, AUTOMATICALLY means you won (If you don't understand that math, comment on this post and I'll explain in 5th Grade detail).
Point #5: Is the extra 10-30% vig betting as an oddsmaker worth it? Said a different way, would you rather bet +100 on YOUR knowledge of the sides, OR, bet -110 to -130 odds using THEIR knowledge and win if the game pushes, REGARDLESS the side you choose.
This is not saying I know it all, but I'm SURE as hell saying you, Chaloots, have no clue where your neck ends and your butt cheeks start.
Personally, I bought .5 points and am taking Pats +3.5 at -135 for 5 units.
Also sprinkling Panthers winning by 1-6 at +350 for 1/2 unit
Key for me is Cam during the press conference...
"We need this more than ANYTHING."
I've learned the quickest way to lose something is to want it too badly. Panthers D will be why they win by 3, not Cam for all you Cam Lovers
Good thing you bought the half and laid an extra 25 cents. When u decide to chart it and see how much money you waste by doing this you will then come and thank me,until the GFY.
Sorry you lost oldwiseone

MAc you cant be serious. You are smarter then that. Think about paying 10 cents for a half point and in this case 25 cents for a half point. It is retarded. It is not even debatable. Please someone get Vanzack in here.
Im here. I just don't have the stomach for these discussions anymore. Its a lost cause.
I used to think gamblers were here to learn. I gave up on that.
But the simple truth is that buying points almost always represents a vig increase to the true cost of that point increase - which is a bad equation for profitability. But try telling that to someone who has anecdotal personal evidence of it doing great things. Oh well.
Pretty simple. When you buy points - you are almost always paying extra in relation to if you don't buy points. So the debate is not over whether you will win more games or not - it is whether you will be more profitable - and since you are paying more - profits inevitably go down....
