Once Tony Romo wins a playoff game we can consider him a top 5 QB. I see some people are comparing Romo and McNabb and I think it is kind of funny. I don't write much in these but I could not resist.
Look up McNabb's winning % in his 1st 7 years and you won't find many better. It is ashame he had little or no talent at wide receiver for most of his career. I think you McNabb bashers are mad b/c he has caused problems for your team at some time or another.
If we rated the QB that did the most with the least amount of talent around him McNabb would win hands down.

Now this is my kind of topic. I am a Bengals fan and am always looking for ways to defend Carson Palmer. First of all, If anyone thinks Big Ben is one of the top 5 QB's they are out of their mind. How many times has he been in the top 5 in passing yards...I am not aware of any..Don't get me wrong the guy is a winner, but he does not have even close to all of the tools needed to be considered in this catagory, he simply cannot throw the ball like an elite QB. He is surrounded by talent, good WR's and good running game, and a good defense to win games. IMO is any avg. QB (Hassleback, Garcia, Bulger, could do just as well if not better the Roth if in his position) If your life depended on one game would you want him to be the QB to lead your team? I certainly would not. Tony Romo, this guy us a pure clown. What has he done? He is in the joke of the NFL (The NFC) The Cowboys have a played a joke schedule the past two years (I dare someone to look back and tell me that they have played an elite schedule) Most of his passes seem to go to a tight end or a short out route, he has not shown that he is confortable throwing the ball deep. I don't think that it is physically possible for him. He has been praised by everyone because people are wanting Dallas to have the next Troy and they will give anyone that title that has had half of a good season. (I won't even bring up the fact that they have an owner who is too stuborn to hire a GM that actually knows a thing or two about football to run things because he loves to stand on the sidelines where the cameras are. Because thats a diff. topic.) Look at Romo's history, when has he had a complete consistant season? Never. Romo has all of the advantages that 90% of the QB's in the league would kill to have. A good receiving core, a great running game, a defense, a pass catching tight end, an awful confrence, and an offensive line that might be one of the best in the game. Lets look at Palmer. He has some of the best stats in the NFL since he became a starter. What has he had. Over-rated Chad Johnson that falls down whenever he catches the ball. TJ who Carson turned into a great receiver. Defense (hopefully it will get better, but to date has been in the bottom 3 worst in the league) A running game, Rudy Johnson wasn't a good player till Carson got there and people started to play the pass more. Last year he was hurt most of the year and they had to rely on a 3rd stringer and Carson still passed in the top 5 in yards. A tight end?? He has NEVER had a pass catching tight end. I'd be suprised he has thrown to the tight end more than once a game in the past 4 years. (Opposed to Romo or Manning who seem to thrown to their tight end whenever they need a big play, or even once a series) Those of you who played football (esp. QB) or know anything about football know how important the tight end is to a passing game. The Bengals offensive line has not compared to what Manning, Brady, Ben, or damn near any other good QB in the NFL has had. I think that it is incredible how many anylists consider him the 3rd best QB in the leauge considering what he has had to work with during his NFL career. The Bengals have been the joke of the NFL since the early 90's, and they have only made the playoffs once since he has been here (The other one, they missed an extra-point to cost them a playoff shot against I believe it was Denver) Of course everyone knows the Pittsburg story. I don't think anyone will argue that he has the strongest arm in the NFL and he has the tools that if he stays healthy could play the longest of any QB because of how he plays (and he has said that he can play at an elite level till his mid 40's). The NFC has been a joke for awhile now, and I do not even want to watch NFC games anymore, the AFC has shown they are the elite teams and talent. Damn near every AFC QB could go to the NFC and be good. This is just my opinion, if Palmer would be in situations like Manning, Brady, and Rothlisburger, he would be considered the best QB in the league. Thanks to all who read this entire thing, I said alot because its betting than spending time with my girlfriend.

When you say best , what do you mean? Do you want to take him to the combine and tear it up, or do you want him to win you 1 game. Is this the best ESPN style like who is the best big name?
If i was starting a team, and wanted continued success this would be my list
1. Brady
2. Peyton Menning (I think you need to have him on turf though, i couldn't see him doing half of what he does if he played in Chic,GB, Buff
3. Palmer
4. Vince Young (all he does is win. piss on his numbers. But would you rather win with shitty numbers, or lose with good ones?
5. Pennington (I know my grandma has a stronger arm, but he's accurate as hell.)
The best at what?
Managing their money?
Landing a Hot wife?
Keeping their nose clean?
Winning a Super bowl?
Passing Drills and workouts?

How can you say McNabb top 5? Put him in any of the top 5 passing offenses as a replacement for the current QB, and the offense is immediatly broke. He was a product of a system. Screen screen screen. Scramble and chuck. Never had any WR''s? What happened when he had Owens?
McNabb s McOverrated

I conquer with goodkat on a little bit of it...keep whining about palmer you baby lol but you may not think romo is that good because he hasnt won any of the big games, but hes only been in the league 1 1/2 years!!!! i'd have to say my top five QBs are Brady and Manning are tied... palmer, favre and romo(esp if he can get further in the playoffs) then rex grossman lol jk...kinda

Exactly EZ, for all those people that think that you have to win it all or win playoff games to be an elite QB is crazy...Rex made it to the superbowl...and he is most likely the worst QB in the league. It takes much more to win it all or even make the playoffs that a QB. Marino never won it all, but I don't think anyone would argue that he was one of the best if not the bets QB to ever play. You say Romo has only been in the league 1 1/2 years. Because he was never good enough to be a starter untill Bill had no other options cause Bledsoe kept thinking that he was supposed to throw the ball to the team wearing a different color uniform than he was. Sure, it would be a good story if he really was one of the best QB's in the game, ya know coming from a D1AA school (or whatever they are called now) coming for Eastern Illinois, (A school that I hate because they made my life hell when they delievered my girlfriend) and going a great 4-5 in his senior year of high school in Wisconsin. But he is not. He is an avg QB at best.

lol you make it seem like you've never heard of a cinderella story... did you not watch any of the college world series? do you not know who josh hamilton is? do you not here about all these guys growing up with nothing in the ghetto and becoming these star athletes that could barely go to school... you're just mad that romo goes to the playoffs and wins games... its not just romo its the whole team is good..but hes the leader and palmer is the leader..they are all in the nfl so they are all talented.. the cowboys are just better...so quit crying :)

Don't give me all that good story crap. This is Covers not Disney. Cowboys would have been 8-8 in the AFC last year...And you say Romo has only been in the league for 1 1/2 years, but he is the same age as Palmer. It's just while Carson was winning the Heisman Romo was in Charleston, Illinois playing with intermural kids.

yeah romo wasnt in the league when palmer was winning the heisman, but when romo gets in there and starts, he makes the playoffs and idc if he loses first round every year, the bengals arent gonna make the playoffs, so that high profile school palmer went to didnt do much for him did it...hmm palmers a first round pick and romos undrafted..and romo does better..palmer goes to usc and romo goes to shitty EIU and who does better in the league? i dont think its palmer..he might have better passing numbers but when you throw 45 times a game you prolly should

I've known you for 10 years and I still think your an idiot. If Palmer wore an ugly blue star on his helmet the Cowboys would be in the superbowl every year. And if Romo didn't play in the No Football Confrence his stats wouldnt be shit. I don't know about you but I think the football people over there in Dallas would have known if Romo was decent or else they wouldnt have ran through like 4 Qb's since he was drafted while never giving him a chance. Why did they draft free agent Qb's and draft Qb's...casue Romo was never anything.

No Football Conference...how original lol..yeah did you ever hear about derek anderson?? no just brady fucking quinn..and palmer will never play for the cowboys, and palmer will always be the QB on the losing bengals team that wishes they could get into the playoffs...face it romo is basically a sophomore and palmer is a vet, and romo will go deeper than palmer every year...i think palmer is better at passing the ball and has a better arm than romo, but look romo has a good enough arm, and good enough accuracy, more mobile, makes the big play happen, and is a winner..palmer was a college wonder who doesnt win in the league..brady is a beast and when did he get drafted??? oh yeah the last round...face it palmer has a few better qualities but hes not a winner in the nfl..and romo's g/f is fine

Well Palmer's and big school got him a 119 million dollar contract..The only award Romo has on his shelf this the 1998 All-Racine County Football team award.

yeah palmer gets paid thats fine..but romo gets money too 57 million for like 5 years and when you make the playoffs and go further you get more money...palmers not getting more money

Dak----it's a breath of fresh air to hear from another knowledgable football fan around here. As you can see there aren't too many that have chimed in. Thanks.
As far as NFC & AFC. Didn't the Giants win the Superbowl? Aren't they fro mthe NFC?
This thread has been very entertaining. Thanks to Steelcash for the topic!
Sucker, do me favor chief. Watch how you throw the term "retard" around. It's really not cool and it makes your stupidity and ignorance shine through. I teach special ed kids and when I hear that term used, well let me just say that it makes me want to slap someone upside their head.
McNAbb's playoff record. 7-5 (including SB loss to Pats, last time I checked they were a pretty good team, w/a HOF Coach & QB)
Not too shabby.
At least he's won some games in the playoffs. More than we can say about some of these bozos.
BTW ------In case anyone is wondering. Romeo is still........
0-2 in the playoffs.
But he's a great QB, honest!

You people living in the past really should jump on board with the rest of us.......this is 2008! Quit living in the past, this is NOT about the past, this is about here and NOW! Who are the top 5 QB's now? This is not a lifetime achievement award...
I can GUARANTEE you 4 things (barring serious injury)...
Brady WILL BE a Top 5 QB in 2008
P. Manning WILL BE a Top 5 QB in 2008
Romo WILL BE a Top 5 QB in 2008
McNabb WILL NOT BE a Top 5 QB in 2008
NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!
Other QB's like Roethlisberger, Palmer, Brees, Garrard, E. Manning, Cutler, Rivers, Hasselbeck, Bulger, etc......ALL have question marks, a couple of those QB's WILL BE Top 5 this season and some will be worthy of consideration, BUT, there are no guarantees with any of these guys...

Mcnabb will not be a top 5 QB this year......I would be surprised if he had a top 10 year. It is more likely that after this year, he will be in search of a McJob.

As far as top QB'S in the league let us all remember that it is not all about how many TD'S are thrown it is about how many interceptions are not thrown.
As far as all the McNabb haters (LakersFan) why don't you look up how many interceptions Romo threw last year or the year before and think about when they were thrown. There is a reason why Romo went to whatever Michigan and got a small contract last year. If I remember correctly when McNabb had a true #1 receiver in Owens they went to the dance and he broke an NFL record for most TD'S to Interception ratio in a season.

Dak177 yeah and if PIGS COULD FLY..........We are talking about chances this year for top 5 performances.
Mcnabb is overweight and slow..........I wish they had a line on this topic because I would POUND this proposition. He has NO chance this year or in the near future of being a top 5 qb.
I am sure every team in the league wishes they had him at this point. I could out run him in a 40. He is DONE

Some people just won't get it.....and I'm far from a McNabb hater. I never said I was a McNabb hater and I never have been. I'm just arguing about this whole top 5 thing which he shouldn't even be in the discussion. That's fantastic that he had a great year with T.O., good for him! That was then and this is now! That's all I'm saying...not a hater at all.
